    Ubisoft to Buy Codemasters...........

    It will be a sad day for everyone if UBI buys Codemasters, UBI's future is Console games 1st, PC 2nd, from what I have seen with UBI they have a policy with PC games of send it out now even though it is broke, and maybe we will fix it later, they offer next to no support for their games and rely on community support, if you need to speak to their support you can email them (but dont expect a reply) or you can call a premium rate number and hear someone tell you to format and reinstall everything, or that problem is known about and may be fixed in the next patch. RvS and Lock On are glowing examples of how to screw up potentially good releases, both were released too early with too many show stopping bugs, hell even Lock On could not run on a 98 OS when it was released, and for anyone from UBI or the Dev's to even say that they were not aware of that bug before release is nothing more than a LIER. RvS introduced more bugs than it fixed. BIS would be better to produce/develop OFP 2 and any future products in their own name, because UBI will surly put a stain that will be hard to remove from BIS's excellent reputation.

I would have to agree, they have managed to improve collision detection in VBS and improve the graphic quality, so if it is using the same engine, just how hard could it be for them to transfer some improvements made in VBS engine to the OFP engine....hell they could even charge for those improvements, no-one is asking for anything for free, just a continued support for this program until OFP II is released.
  5. I got drawn to the darkside (AmericasArmy) so have forgotten nearly all I learned when I first started to make missions (many moons ago). I am surprised that no-one has still not got around to producing a manual that a numskull like me could follow, just something that list example common everyday commands and init strings that are used in making a mission, nothing too in-depth but would cover the basics and intermediate mission building. Could be a money earner for someone I know I would buy it
  6. Thanks for the fast reply The problem I have is that a script for re-supplying troops, depends on the group being called group 1 etc, unless I try puting group1 as the unit name ? Dont the _x mean that the group is un-named? Edit, Just tested it, changed the exec to echo the unit name rather than group 1 etc, and it looks like it works ok, thanks again for a fast reply

I am trying to get a group to start aboard a 5T Truck, In the Group leaders field I have Group1 = GroupThis; This MoveInCargo truck1 The only one that starts inside the truck is the group leader and that is oly if I set him to In Cargo, if I dont everyone is just standing around out side, this is on 1.46, Anyone got any advice as to what could be wrong?

    Couple of issues

    1. Smoke grenades fall through the bridge (loosing good cover there) 2. At the start when you fill up the moterbike at the garage, select save close the program, then start again at your save point, and watch your self get teleported to a tiny island as punishment for saving too soon (lucky it is at the start) 3. Roades are incomplete in places. 4. Tanks difficult to stop downhill (a lot harder than before) 5. Troops run so far onto the bridge then run around like demented children and wont progress across the bridge. 6. Vehicles sometimes have a problem crossing the main bridge under AI control. 7. Small airfield to the north does not function with AI's as pilots for planes, even if you set auto-land it will fly to the main airport. 8. Cannot change from bino's to RPG unless you change to main weapon first. Nice addon! but BI could have spent a little more time on the quality control, or is this what we can expect from BI "poor quality of goods" only to be rectified by patches?

I have an issue with the 2nd mission in Res, My No3 got wounded after I ordered him to attack the tank, the gimp refused, then got wounded for his troubles, but then no matter what order I gave he just sat there with his RPG at the ready shouting roger, I ended up having to kill him, to progress with the mission (bit of a bummer, when you are suposed to try and keep ya men safe). Other problem I had was during the convoy mission, I shot up the renforcments, then instructed the men to climb into the truck with No2 as driver of one truck and myself as driver of the other, and the other men instructed to climb into the back, this they did with no problems, but would not move back to the camp when instructed, I told them to disembark and drove them to the camp my self, then went back for the 2nd truck, when I got there No2, 3, & 4 were still sitting in the truck (so who the hell did I drop off at my camp?) when I tried to mount the truck (no sexual prefrences please) it would not let me, untill I shot the driver, then it said "Oh! No 2 is down" but I could then drive the truck back to base, and complete the mission. I hope these bugs are just one off, as if I have to keep shooting my own men to complete the missions, Ill be doing the enemys job for them

    look at the shadow of the tri-pod and then the shadow of the butt & stock they are wrong (unless there are 2 light sources)
