  1. I just Brought PC Gamer Magazine and there was a small article under there eye witness section about ARMA "I QUOTE"

The massive war-based FPS will be

Released in the Czech Republic and

Germany by November and we expect

the UK version to follow early 2007

Hah bet you weren't expecting that

Huh? A quiet little announcment for

what might be possibly be the best first

person wargame on the PC? this is

    operation flashpoints younger brother

built by the same devs but with a new

    modern quise thanks to codemasters

    and developers bohemia not seeing

    eye to eye.

    Official ETA Q1 07

    Expected February

Read into that what you like, but if the official release is to be next year i wouldnt expect a demo  to soon <sniff>

German amazon here i come  confused_o.gif

    This was new how?

  2. I hope this

is not the final look of the editor. It looks pretty rough...at least. Well, it doesn't bother me because I know what I'm getting (the best game ever), but I'm thinking of the people without previous experience of ofp that bis have to sell this game.

Btw, I guess that list is air vehicles for east side. So what is Camel E?? Is it the biplane, Sopwith Camel biggrin_o.gif?

Also confirms the absence of Mi-24 as well. wink_o.gif

  3. Beat 'em Up and Platformers predominate on console.

Maybe in 1995 but in 2006 it's more like action games (FPS, 3rd person and free-form ala gta), sports and the kiddie license crap.

  4. Blu-Ray and HD:DVD are the new Batamax and VHS.

Or just betamax and betamax. Unlike the transition from VHS to DVD the benefits are not nearly as clear especially considering that not too many homes have/can even afford television sets that can truly take advantage of the better picture quality.

And DVD burning will also become a hell lot cheaper per GB if those damn DVD9-Rs ever get cheaper. yay.gif

  5. The xbox i was saying was irrelevent to ArmA port as the Xbox is a completely different system that works in a whole different way thefore you have to rewrite most of the game code, this is one of the reasons it took so long

Uh, never minding the fact that the original XBOX had a bog-standard pentium processor, a modified nvidia geforce 3 graphics chipset, standard PC hard drive and optical drive and it even was somehow using directx and stripped down windows 2000 as well? On the other hand the "easier" X360 has a custom triple core PowerPC processor.

It's no coincidence that the original XBOX has such a vibrant homebrew community.

  6. HIGHLANDER @ Oct. 24 2006,21:31)]yes you can, as far as im aware you could do that in FDFmod in ofp, or maybe it was deploy mortars with tripod, needed 2 men for it though :S

You don't, I have re-deployed machine guns alone multiple times for short distances and even longer ones if I happen to have a motorized vehicle nearby.

And also, the heavy machine gun ammunition can be picked up separately in case your inventory was full when you grabbed the gun part. yay.gif

Its a fact, Dictatorships make less money than Democracies. Communism is well known because of its social welfare programs.

Actually China's social security programs are just plain crap, their social spending is insanely low in the countryside especially. Even their income inequality is about as bad as the US's.

    Quote[/b] ]

You do realize that a trade embargo on China will result in China going bankrupt? Besides, most of the resources used for the trade are in developed areas like Hong Kong and Taiwan, or unoccasionally from Tibet. All these areas could easily prosper on their own. But china is just reaping all the benefits.

Guess you missed the last ten years when bulk of our industry was moven to mainland china to exploit their cheap semi-slave labour.

    Quote[/b] ]

For the nation to pay for all of this it has to raise taxes. And with China having a lot of people, it becomes a double edged sword. Yes they do get more tax money, but they still have to pay for them as well. You see taxes in China usually run at nearly half. If it came down to it, those areas listed above will secede. This will destabilize the country's economy indefinitely.

A goverment that hardly takes kindly to even the nicest protest would react in the most brutal manner to any such attempt.

Also, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this part of the MCA....

    Quote[/b] ]

Prohibits any person in the custody or control of the United States, regardless of nationality or physical location, from being subject to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.

Have'nt certain people been trying skate around that definition for quite a long time now?

  8. It would be interesting to ask and compare members of different countries for their view as to whether they are free or not. Would a North Korean declare that he is free? Would an American citizen feel they are free?

There's a difference between thinking youre free and just saying it.

  9. or just hook up a USB keyboard ( They work on 360 dont they?! )

Technically speaking yeah, but microsoft is quite paranoid about making X360 appear like a computer.
