Well, as far as this genre goes BiA is possibly the most open-ended product on the market. Tells more about ww2 shooters than BiA itself though. Yeah i guess so but how is it open ended? The only thing open minded i saw in this was the new MP game modes. otherwise its just the same linear gameplay as CoD (go there kill that and yeah only follow THAT specific route , how dare you go through the level of yuor own accord ) , except they have documented and made their envoirnments very well , the locations are historically acurate but the gameplay sucks its too simple and too consolish. They were quite linear but not CoD-linear and your squadmates would be actually something else than scripted props.

Uh.. I think those soldier models can be forgiven considering it's a turn based strategy game usually viewed from afar.

I dont know, mods about conflicts that had less casualties than your average medium-sized mission has does'nt sound like a very good idea. "HUGE" and good models & textures (ESPECIALLY textures) do not mix well im afraid.

I think this has more to do with many popular online FPS games using opengl than opengl itself.

Let's just say they have a history of killing game franchises by forcing their makers to make them more appealing to mass market and their employee policies are among the worst in the industry. I recall (not sure since I am not into sports games) that EA sports games work online only until the next version comes out so the players who want to play online are forced to upgrade. They also are quite hostile to modding communities. Erm ... it would be interesting idea ... but is it worth it ... as far as i understand  Steam (publisher) and Valve (maker) are very close related (the same company as i understand), moreover steam most likely wont fit the BIs ... i think becouse they are popular only on one genre ... and buyers will think that they are buing some sort of next gen HL on huge island Does ragdoll kung fu fit your description of a next gen HL? However using steam would probably require extensive modifications.

The monetary cost doesn't matter. It's pretty evident that microsoft is trying to shift the gaming aspect of the PC over to their fucking shitbox. More like rats jumping a sinking ship. Microsoft is seeing what is happening to pc gaming and wants a piece of the pie before Sony becomes a gaming hardware monopoly.

Gah, we just had one of the worst examples of national politicians trying to blame EU for their own bullshit. The new copyright law (which is pretty strict, it even forbids talking about cracking copy protections) was supposedly done because EUCD (or whatever it was called) said so. When the parliament members were confronted about this new crappy law they just said that complaints should have been filed at the EU and that if we would not obey the directive there would be hell to pay and that there was no other choice. Of course they failed to mention that their implementation of the previously mentioned directive was hell lot less stricter in other EU countries and that disobeying a directive is hardly anything earth-shattering, our goverment is already getting flak for not obeying several enviroment directives and im not seeing the sky falling. And of course then there were nationalist seizing the moment and blaming EU for all the bad things that had happened instead of our minister of culture (former Miss Finland, I. Shit. You. Not.) and the corrupt bureaucrats that made this fiasco possible.

IMO, i don't think neither the EU or the US at the moment are any better or worse than the other. both have the exact same problems, unemployment, natural disasters, social security issues and from what i hear poverty is also a problem in the EU paticulary in Germany. i even hear there are some rather unpleasant ghetto's in Paris where many of the immigrants live i believe a fire broke out not long ago and killed some people. I think it would be fair to say that the poorest quartile is better off in Europe than in the US while the middle class and ESPECIALLY the top 5% are not so rich.

The point here is that something might not be better because OFP is supposed to be customizable and you can forget about stuff like (purely hypothetical) DXDLL2 that adds those wonderful DX11 effects to the outdated armed assault engine. Or not to mention those people who get e-stoned for having PB or some similar hopeless hack label them cheaters for no good reason. No, we are just being pragmatic.

Israel is more european in its politics and values. I think we should have Israel join europe before a country which appears to be wanting to return to theocracy. Like turkey's prime minister said "We have an agreement inshallah" if allah wills it .... Yeah seems like a great candidate to join politically secular europe. Does'nt seem to be that much more religious than certain newer eastern members (*cough*poland*cough*).
