According to Trevor, its more to do with the fact that the fire is so hot at the mo, making the clouds rise so high; apparently, as the fire gets fought more (and thus the vapours get colder) the cloud will end up "falling" onto houses etc. Whoever made the joke about the cloud going towards France - erm, some of us live in the South East mate, it ain't funny

The smoke clouds made for some impressive viewing

Hahaha! Sorry, but in OFP neither I need a CD in my drive, neither do I need a connection, neither do I need to unplug my network cable when I want to play it. This is customer friendly. And I hope that BIS won't punish its customers because others are pirating or cheating. You used brain when writing this ? i said You DO NOT NEED online connection to "somewhere" when YOu play OFFLINE ... You dont need to have any media drive just MOBO + HDD, CPU, VIDEO and SOUNDCARD to play single player game like HL2 @ Steam .... got the point ? of course You can play normally in Online mode too ... or if your post was some sort of irony then sorry but i missed it ... You're well out of order here. Posting in such an aggressive manner is frowned upon here. I do not wish to see such a post from you again.

Securing the captured land sounds like a very good idea. Maybe the Resistance Army that has been driven out of a city would set up camp near that lost city and keep attacking it until their new base has been destroyed as well. Infantry reinforcements should be delivered to the main base only - they then need to be transported to the front line, being vulnerable to attacks in transit. There should be an "emergency backup" option that paradrops units into a hot LZ, but depending on scripting commands possible, this option should only be available to units currently under fire. It should also be very limited. Reinforcements in general should be sent to purpose-built areas - I can live with paradrops of infantry (bigger reinforcements at airports?) but for vehicle supplies, they should come to airports (APCs, transport vehicles) and ports (tanks). I like the idea of propaganda vehicles, they could turn the population against the holding resistance - if you help them, they join your army, if you don't help them, they will attack you once you got rid of the Resistance. Another thing we should consider introducing - the need for ammo and food. Food will most likely have to be scripted, but ammo is definitely doable. I know you can just pick up weapons from the dead enemy, but I am not talking about small arms only, I also mean mines, RPG/LAWs, laser dets etc. Maybe the commander gets to hear what each unit wants, then the requested material is sent to the front. Hardcode JIP for commanders.

I'm moving this to Troubleshooting. For mod folders - go into the OFP root folder, make a foldername like "@RANDOMFOLDERNAME", then inside that folder create a subfolder called "Addons", copy the .pbo's into that folder. Then add to your shortcut the new "@RANDOMFOLDERNAME" To see the addons, you can open desert island and load that particular addon and play with it, or you can download missions with that addon. Or you can be advanced and replace some default BIS units with that new unit and you can then enjoy an all new campaign.

denoir, do you believe that this failure in achieving any military success was down to technological restrictions, vague/unclear orders, bad piloting, or clever concealment by the Serbs, or just a general failure in everything from politics, to technology, to soldiering?

I remember asking on this board a few years back, IIRC the number was something between 15 and 35, but don't remember specifics
-
Shocking news - I may not be perfect Yeah, might be refreshrate, don't quite remember. Try either, see what works
-
When you start up the game, move your mouse to the very top left of the screen straight after clicking your shortcut, that's the easiest way to fix it. Otherwise, try playing the game at a resolution that's different from your desktop's. HTH

Why don't you ask on the Far Cry forums? I'm sure they know better than any one of us here does

Since we don't have a texturing-dedicated forum, I think this thread will feel most comfy in A&M:D

It would be ace if you could integrate these into CoC

Oh my god take a look at this, do you see there is NO distortion when the soldier model stands and there is a collar and the crotch doesn't look funny like alot of infantry addons. Your not really an OFP player if you didn't pick up how good the models are look You didn't need to adopt the the wise arse snotty nosed spoilt bratt kiddy tone with me, fool. I've been playing OFP non stop since it came out OK. All I asked for was a picture offering a comparison of the default model and this new one quit flamebating. OT: The models are superb. Shut up As you're currently on a warning level of 3 I would strongly advise against flaming/flame baiting other people on the forums, a warning level of 3 can very quickly become a permanent ban. My warning level has fuck all to do with how I respond to blatant flamebating (which conveniently enough for SoulWhatever was ignored) On the contrary, it has everything to do with it. Now look at you - you're breaking the rule on mod discussions, and you think you can flame when you perceive to have been flamed? It doesn't work that way, and you know it. This is the last RTM that I want to see for this topic, if I get another one about one of your posts, your WL will increase and a long PR will be issued.

Borrowed Fifa 06 off a mate....handed the dvd back to him later that day when he left!! What a pile of poo it is...I have seen it so many times that the ball crosses the line by almost a yard, yet the ref doesn't care!! WTF!!!! Passing is as cumbersome as always, and switching players still results in the ONE player that you DONT want to go active, going active! Tosh. Plus, the character models+faces are terrible too. About the only thing I liked was the nice touch of playing part of the anthem at the start of a match.

I was having a debate like this on another forum, and my opponent basically claimed that in a conflict between two modern nations, artillery's role is to neutralise the enemy's artillery. He claimed that in this age of UAVs, rangefind radar and other technological advances that allows the enemy to collect information about the position of artillery, the first strikes in a war would be traded between the two artillery systems. I disagree with this. I think the role of artillery hasn't changed much. Whilst it has become more mobile, it's basic mission is still to provide direct fire support to your troops and to "dislocate" entranched and fortified positions. I think that in times of conflict, both sides' artillery will be located in such a way that they are both in range of the conflict area they are support to be engaged in, but out of range to each other. What is your take on this, has artillery's role changed? Are artillery-to-artillery engagements prone to become more common between two advanced armies? Discuss

Gotta love the MoD, they make for good comedy Not funny risking lives over beancounting though
-
So did the RAF put guns into them or not?
-
So basically, you all agree with my opponent - in a clash between two modern armies, artillery has no role as they will pound each other to ashes and offer little to no value to the actual battlefield (which in itself will not really exist anyway)?

Yes its just you. I just checked the Combat Photography thread, and Imageshack hosted pictures work fine for me
