You sound very impatient, best you forget the game and come back and try again in 6 months when a few patches have been released and you are bored. Either that or learn some manners. :mad:

I have to agree with this and even worse the Indian restaurant knew they were serving bad curry but did it anyway. I am still hanging in there and wasting time on this game because I see the potential but it is wearing thin. I am even planning on buying a new HDD just to install Win 7 in the hope that works which shows how keen I am. I am praying that 1.03 fixes my issues or I think the game will be shelved, too much stress trying to get it to work.

It cost $50 for F^$k sake. Sit down, settle, be patient and relax. I have also been way beyond frustrated at the game not working for me and I have spent hours trying to get it to work well but in the end I am not losing sleep over it and hope that it will be playable soon. This is the kind of game that does not go out of date in 2 months like some of those other titles. Be happy a patch is coming in days and then there will be more patches to come as well as additional content I am sure.

See this thread, post by Dwarden http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=78474&page=2 He says "It is being worked on" So with that comment and the other more recent comment that the patch is imminent then we should all stop complaining and at least wait for 1.03 before we start complaining again :-)

Hey everyone I am starting this thread to let everyone know that the long awaited and preyed for "Fixes" are not far away. I hope this thread is not locked as it's purpose is to maybe calm some people down, BIS are working on things. This is good news for everyone. Aren't they all on holidays until sometime in August? so I read, maybe just a rumor but explains why nothing is coming from BIS and the few lines of release notes we saw for 1.03 patch a while ago matches with a graduate developer fixing bugs or a junior dev, no real core code stuff.

As you know I am also getting this frustrating game breaking screen. However I have to totally disagree with point 2 because there was a post a couple of weeks ago by BIS that I know you saw that said that they are indeed working on the issue. So for everyone's information BIS are working on the issue. I am afraid it comes down to being patient and hope they include a fix in the next patch. I am just as frustrated as the rest of you and I have just thrown my arms in the air and given up with the game until patches arrive. Not much help but it is something to cling onto. I just hope the rumor that most BIS staff went on holiday after release and wont be back until August is not true for our sanity sake.

"It just needs a few tweaks" Are you friggin kidding me? I am 100% behind the original post, every word is true and so is every frustration. I have spent weeks tweaking, reinstalling everything on my computer under the sun except the OS which I may add is an original full licensed XP with all patches applied. I too drop in now every few days hoping my $50 has not been totally wasted however for me the initial excitement of the game has gone and that is now tainted and that is something you can never get back. Saying to friends Ahh I remember the first time I booted up game blah, the graphics or the atmosphere or something blew me away, that is something big that is gone forever for me with ARMA2. No fond memories what so ever, no recomendations to friends no matter what they patch now. I will play the game if it is fixed as I love simulations and there really is not much out there. Let's see if BIS come through in the end, sooner the better I feel, so many negative videos on youtube now. This IS something BIS and all software companies should be mindful of.

I am sure I read they have a life of 2 million hours or something like that, not sure about read/writes though.

Can't wait for prices on SSD to drop, at least to start with. 80GB would be perfect along side a 1TB Hard drive just for storage. I think the new 80GB HP or IBM? SSD's are faster than what was shown above so they are only going to get faster.

FRAPS of if you have ATI you can turn it on in the Catalyst control panel I beleive.

ok thanks for the input but I have to say I don't play the game, mainly because I can't, I just muddle my way aroud the forums waiting for a patch LOL.

I thought it was a good post right until I read the last sentence. Having a go at the frustrations of many on the forums after a few short days of game play when generally you have not had the problems that many of us have had is not a good. General PC maintainance and cleaning is a good suggestion for anyone who has not done it, worth trying. I think though that CTD's, black screens and in game graphic corruption is more attributed to either driver problems, ARMA2 code problems or both. If all of us had was just performance issues I for one would not be so grumpy but when the game is unplayable with constant black screens and CTD's after trying everything except a total reformat then you can understand the frustrations and heated comments at times.

Well I amanged to reduce the number of times I get Receiving.... black screen and the number of CTD's by reducing texture quality to the lowest possible and same goes for almost every other setting. This makes the game playable in cities as well but it depends on what you mean by "playable". I get horrible graphics like plastacine trees and blurry textures on building, basically the graphics become barely better than OFP1! so yeah I can run around shooting AI but half the fun is gone because of the atmosphere lost. AND I still have to occasionaly ALT - flush when stuttering begins but it takes a while usually.

You are fine if you have the 505 physical game or downloaded the Steam version. If you download any other version you have restrictions. This was confirmed in another thread by BIS.

Sorry to have to correct you but that is not the case. A 1000W power supply can supply up to that much power but will only output what the hardware asks it for so having a larger power supply does not mean a larger bill unless the system uses more power. Plug in a 2000W power supply in a system that uses only 500W and your electricity use is 500W, same as in a 1000W power supply.

Obviously you did not read my post properley and reacted to 4 characters only. I loved ARMA, eventually when it worked fine and I spent many hours playing it. The reason I loved it was I was sick of the "run of the mill" shooter and looked forward to a tactical game and in multiplayer you can get that. The POINT of my post was that ARMA2 for MANY people does not work long enough for us to enjoy it, how do you think many people feel? Maybe you can play it, you may be one of the lucky ones but I am not complaining about slow graphics, I would love it if my only problem was performance. My problem is that it is unplayable, black scrren often, turn my head int he city and a black screen comes up, take one step and a black screen. Due to this dissapointment and wasted hours trying to get it going I am now looking forward to something that at least may work which is why I mentioned that other game you so immediately shoot down. My POINT is also to show how dissapointed I am and how this game does NOT deserve the title given to it by the original poster, I was responding to his question. Next time try and "Read" and "think" about what someone is trying to say instead of flaming for the sake of it.

I had experienced the poor quality of ARMA1 release but saw it over time get fixed. I was so looking forward to ARMA2 and not much excites me these days but this got my blood pumping. With great anticipation I opened and installed the game and after 5 mins play was still pretty excited as the atmosphere/sounds and ground cover pulled me in. Then it was all over, the next 2.5 weeks all I did was try and fix graphical glitches and Receiving... black screen problems. over 20hrs of installing and reinstalling the game, all drivers on my system, changing settings but nothing I did made the game playable for more than 5 mins mostly but there was a rare once or twice I did manage to play for 1hr. This is all Single Player by the way forget Multiplayer. I get a black screen always in multiplayer and slowdowns so bad in cities with flashing white triangles etc etc/. No my card is fine and not overheating, trust me I have tried/checked everything. So now I don't even load the game up, I cannot be bothered, I feel sick at the thought of the bugs. I have told my mates to not buy it unless the bugs are ironed out and this is a group hat played ARMA often. I hate to say it but as much as OFP2 will not be the same as ARMA2 I know for a fact that I wont have these frustrations and I may even enjoy OFP2 for what it has to offer and just expect less. This from someone that only normally buys 1-2 games a year, in fact ARMA was my last purchase since 2007 - 2009 (ARMA2) but due to being dissolusioned with ARMA2 I will be buying OFP2. So to answer the original poster's question/comment......ARMA2 had an opportunity to be exactly that the "Best game in history" but blew the chance IMO.

play it for a couple of days for a few hours and then come back and tell us it is just as stable. because I have uninstalled/reinstalled everything including Direct X and all drivers possible and it played nice for about 1hr and then slowly but surely Receiving... came back with a vengeance. BEYOND ANNOYED! There is NO fix for this so do not waste your time, I wasted enough for all of us, 20+ hours screwing around in 2.5 weeks trying to get rid of Receiving and CTD's and everything I have is legit including windows XP.

I see no mention of the Receiving.... bug that many get and flickering textures/CTD's. I am praying that these fixes are going in the next patch because I and many others cannot play the game for more than a couple of minutes before a crash and sometimes I get Receiving.... every time I turn my head in the larger city, one step Receiving..., turn head Receiving... I can only hope. One thing to note if I play in windowed mode I still get Receiving but not as often but then again I also get a drop in FPS....

I also get this. It seems to be common on the pine trees. Move up to a tree and zoom in and there are white flashing dots all over the tree. single pixels flashing and it is not supposed to be there. Even not zooming in you can see them but zomming in makes it more obvious. Isn't a major issue but it is a little annoying. I have an ATI 4870 1gb not overclocked and brand spanking new. I am hoping that this will be fixed as a consequence of BIS fixing all of the texture and Receiving.... issues many people are getting but who knows. Been 3 weeks since last patch I hope there is one soon that fixes the major issues.

Tons of bugs and unplayable out of the box for many. I mean unplayable with black Receiving... screen nearly all the time.
