Our server was running it earlier - it's a good game. If I am not meant to post this here, please let me know and I will delete it ASAP - just in response to the previous post we are running it on The Rifles server. GOL I assume also have it on their server Very good mission, spoke to Somerville on our server earlier and he's putting a lot of work into it, I can't wait for later releases. -
British Royal Marines By Plasman
dr_chris replied to plasman's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Looking good mate. Are all the rank slides Corporals, or do they vary between the units? -
I had a fantastic game on this tonight with some clan members and publics - it really is a fantastic mission. It is very adaptable and you can do so many things in it without it being complicated to try and do or laggy. It's certainly a challenge, but not so challenging that you give up hope. Very well done Igor!

I like Chammy's because as stated, the firefights sound amazing. Most mods, you can't hear a rifle firing from a few hundred metres away. In this pack, you can be having a firefight between two opposing forces (say in treelines 200-300m apart) and still hear the distant crack of the weapon. I agree that the first person sound is far too weak for the weapons though, needs a bit of punch. The best weapon sounds I've heard so far are the ones from Scaven's pack with the M249 and FN-FAL.

VF RealSoundPatch V1.3 for Arma 1.08
dr_chris replied to VictorFarbau's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I do like some of those sounds - it'd be good to have a video so we could see which weapon is making each noise though? I particularly like the sound of the m249 (i think?) with the mechanical sounds made by its moving parts on top of the actual report of the round going off. -
But you said the ghillie suit is yours?
-
You are really doing you and your clan UNA proud mate, keep it up.
-
So you are saying the original picture is your addons? And that the jacket and ghillie suit were made from scratch with you? I'm saying this as someone who is proud to use British equipment in real life, and do not like to see it butchered with other peoples' kit thrown in to make it look good.
-
So why post a picture of someone else's addons saying they're yours? Keep digging mate
-
So you are infact saying these are /not/ your addons as previously stated they were?
-
And why equip the Army with modern stuff, but use an L85-A1? And with an ACOG?? Plus the gas block appears to be green? And are they as 'realistic' as your OFP ones, with an SA80 zeroed to 1000m? I am also curious as to the white shiney circles on the side of the weapon. Last time I was on the range, I don't remember seeing them. I am sure they look quite good at night though. Mr Taliban will know just where to shoot! [sorry for so many edits, but the more I read this the more I wonder how much you guys are into realism]

I had a fantastic time on this mission, been playing for the past 24 hours pretty much! Really, really well made and immersive. Strongly recommended.

It's a good start - I like the idea of it. I don't like the animation, but it is indeed a good start. As people have mentioned, some kind of hurdle would be good - however it should be a key press or an action, as it'd be annoying trying to hold a defensive positon behind sandbags only to jump over them into the bullets.
-
Our AAC section is currently recruiting. AAC operates transport, CAS and transportation of supplies etc.. It is run on a crew basis, so it's not just a case of zooming about shooting anything you see. The Rifles Website - please feel free to visit us there. We are a UK based unit.
-
I've been converted - I do quite like this. You can't fully appreciate it until you're in a big firefight with 2 M249s and a few M16-A4s shooting, and another firefight going on about 600 metres away. Sexeh.
-
Just installed and tested it. Whilst it's not bad, I have to say I prefer the standard ArmA sounds. The rifles are far too echoey, firing an M4 in open ground sounds like firing a sniper rifle in a cave.
-
Good job Sasy, it's good that someone actually went ahead and made the things instead of moaning that other people have not. Look forward to seeing the work develop.
-
Women can look after themselves! Unless there's a nuclear war and the only food they have access to is in jars. Looking forward to the release guys, good work.
-
I don't know why anyone would say no to this. It's an original idea and I think it'd be good to see something that's not been done over and over again.
-
The weapons themselves look top notch, very nice indeed. The only thing I have to say I'm not fond of is the VIL_20Rnd_762x51_nato magazine rounds. The sound plays with a bit of a background fuzz, then it cuts off a bit too sharply.
-
I turn crosshairs off completely. 1 - You should be able to recognise friendly units from hostile units. If not, you need to get some practice in 2 - You can aim the M203 perfectly well without the crosshair, again it just takes practice and therefore some skill, which is nicer than just installing the game and being an ace shot with it every time. 3 - Same as above for hand grenades.
-
salute is the '#' key on a british keyboard, the one next to the Enter key. Ctrl twice makes weapon safe too, shift twice changes between run/walk.
-
I've made a mission with a mine field, with the IED explosion being small for each mine the players stand on. When testing, I get this error: 'Error type Any, Expected Number' with some other jazz showing the text from the ied.sqs - any idea why? Also, as per the above post, does this happen all the time? I don't want an ever exploding mine field! Cheers.

Good job mate. I'll recommend these to some of my guys who are having FPS issues. I get 50fps on full settings with grass (*dance*) but it's certainly good for folk who aren't stupid enough to waste money all on computer parts!
