My original post was deleted at my request due to using my old account by mistake. The post was as follows: I am not active in modding at the moment and so DKM is effectively inactive. I will be seeking the permission for you from the old members of DKM who worked on the pack, but I may not be able to get in touch with them. I admire your approach to getting permission: either get permission or don't release. We didn't see that often in the Flashpoint community. Hope this clears up the confusion.

It wasn't OFP that changed to make it run smoothly, it was people upgrading their PC. The only way those who can't run Arma as smoothly as they'd like will be able to, is to upgrade.

That's a good point, you might be right, but perhaps it's better as an option rather than a rule

Then it becomes a pissing contest about cameras and not about taking nice photos. You don't ask people to post their computer specs at the end of every post in the OFP Combat Photo thread for this reason. I have no intention of saying what camera I'm using.

Well who would have guess which side Shashman would jump on when DKM addons are mentioned... Now, actually reading the topic and what has been said, you can see that you missed the point. That statement sounds like Universal has some addons, which he intended to release. As he has only mentioned so far that he has edited the S-400 and the Black Eagle, it is not far fetched to assume these are the addons he is talking about. Perhaps it was that my sentence had a bracketed comment in that made this sound like that, or that you are just trying to fish for negative comments to justify this little rant you are on, but no, if he is talking about releasing modified DKM addons, he should NOT be talking about them like that. If you want to start picking out quotes, maybe I should quote the OFP.info comments from a while back when you said you didn't need to be constructive about criticising addons, or the comment on these forums about how you regard saying any kind of thankyou for an addon as asskissing. Anyone can pick and choose. If looking out for the interests of the authors of these addons is "petty", if expecting some kind of honour from people is, then yeah, call it that. But when you obviously just wanted to express some opinion because you can, not because you had anything useful to add, I'm afraid you are the pathetic one. That quote pretty much sums up your bad attitude I think you entire last post has summed up your bad attitude, and many more before it. I realise you have made a sport for yourself on this forum of doing this kind of thing, so I won't continue it. If you would like to, though, feel free to continue it by PMing Placebo.

Para is right, Universal has been parading his "modifications" to DKM work on these forums with no regard as to getting permission, he had to be told in the thread where he had already started promoting his texture changes to actually ask. He should not be talking about DKM addons (maybe you could clear this up Universal, maybe you're not talking about DKM addons) as he has yet to recieve permission to edit them in any way.

Made before VIT APC pack if I remember, and while the VIT APC pack's attempt is very good, it's not perfect. Yeah, that might be true, but it fits in with the exisitng BIS content more with it on. Why not a flag on a pole? Because not every tank would have a flag on a pole, and the animations for the flags can be laggy. You're right, that's equal to a CTD. Enough? Enough for what? I doubt anyone cares if it isn't "accurate enough" for YOU (not that you have high standards, don't go thinking that your comments are the benchmark of quality, German officer who talks russian and has an IP in the US). You don't have permission to edit it, public or otherwise. So the one point of the protection system, and you can't make it work? Yeah, you really are qualified to be telling DKM how to make addons. Go and make your own Black Eagle, and by that I mean start with a blank screen in O2 and make one from scratch, not try and pass off our model as yours. Then, make a thread about it. I'm guessing there would be so many inaccuracies to talk about, you'd get several pages worth of "feedback". You do need a hobby, addon making and addon criticising isn't it.

Yeah, took it for a drive in the hills, got it nice and muddy. No LPG yet, need to get some other work done on it before I do that. It's Somerset!

Am I the only one who's noticed that underneath Universal's name in that pic it says "Advanced Member"? And that area's all pixelated as if it was done in paint? Pretty odd for a pic that is supposidly from his inbox... Sorry but why would Jaguar Photoshop it? It's probably a forum bug like the many Ikonboard has. He will never reach advanced member anyway. Exactly, why would you even think I'd have photoshopped it anyway? I don't even see how adding a member title would be doctoring of it, it's not like that would have changed the point of the PM in the first place. IF you get permission. Its far from given...

There is a good reason why it's not a good idea to post the pics, you can if you want, it's up to your judgement. But if you don't get permission to release, and you've shown all these pictures then it will be you who has promised an addon modifcation to people, which you can't release. It's really up to you.

As you can see, looks a lot like you sent it. Do you really think you should continue posting pictures of an addon you don't even have permission to edit, yet?

I have yet to recieve your pm asking for permission to edit this model or it's textures, only one for modifying the BTRs, which for someone asking something of someone else, was remarkably free of any "please" or "thankyou". I don't think that until you have permission to edit a model, you should be showing screenshots of it and advertising "your" work (and I use the term very loosely) in public. You can PM me or any other DKM member on this board and I, or they, will seek the author's permission.

nah he's actually talking about the arrogant people who call themselves "artists" before they can do something of decent quality (like adding shadows on textures and so on) the problem is his posts make it sounds like he's accusing everyone of lazyness when in fact he's just criticizing this whole "praise lazy ass work" that eventually applies to a small part of this community in my point of view In that case I completely agree with him, and I appologise for any insult from my post. Don't listen BD! I'm sure we came up with the ideas for the style of our addon studios' names at exactly the same time and therefore they are both original. Or not.

It seems to me the reason for you posting this is that you don't like people who make poor quality addons getting more praise than you do, when you (and I'm going purely by what you say here, so don't think I'm saying this is my opinion) make good quality addons. You have told us, the community, we don't want to learn. I don't know what you are basing this on, but it's not true for me. I don't read tutorials, I don't talk about texturing at great lengths with people who do it, I just spend time using photoshop to do whatever I think I want to do to a texture until it looks right, trying out different things until I am happy. I never use photos other than for reference, I don't use bits of other textures, I like to do it for myself so that I can say that I can. I could show you my DKM UK pack troops compared to my first vehicle addon, the M113 FISTV, I could show you pictures of my first M113 ADATS compared to the current one, or pictures of the C-130, but to be honest I don't feel the need to justify myself to anyone. You can trash the community that tries to create work, and you can protect BIS from hearing the views of their potential customers, but I actually think they would want to hear from them, it's called market research, and feedback. You pay money for a product, you expect a level of quality that is reflective of the price you paid, and BIS know this. When was the last time you sent money to an addon maker, because without doing so, you can't ask them to work any more hours, draw any more textures or lift another finger towards improving their addon. I agree with DeadMeat, people don't know how to be constructive, and those that do are mobbed. But if you really think that a topic like this is halfway near what it would take to actually get anything done about it in a sensible way, then you're mistaken. Oh, I have "Studio" in my signature image, I hope it doesn't offend you, I can remove it if you want, despite it being a friendly mockery of some other signatures on this forum.

Bear in mind that the Falklands Harrier was made several years ago and at a time when VTOL was though impossible. I wouldn't dismiss it so fast. Rockape's work puts the "meat on the bones" of the idea.
