    Nogova 2004

    Remember to think ofthis from a multiplayer persepctive. ********************* A team (West) driving in a small convoy of Hummers accompanied by a UH60-MG leaves Lipany and heads for the Desert Airport. They reach the bridge and another player team (East) has raised the central bridge and destroyed the operating box on the West side. After discussion there are a few possibilities. a: travel around the river b: leave the convoy and take the helicopter (giving East free vehicles and equipment) c: deploy a team on the opposite side via UH60 with West team giving covering fire d: try and jump the gap with a motorbikes and Hummers (Unit a) and UH60 giving covering fire whilst (Unit a) lowers the bridge from East side. (West) decides for a option D strategy as its been quite boring so far, so they do for a bit of fun. Objective completed with no casualties and one broken Bike. ********************* Fun yeah? By creating scripts that entice and promote the use of real team play and communication I believe that this will become a major multiplayer map.

    Cheaters creating m1a1 or cluster bombs

    Acid, im not saying it is fine, I am merely pointing out that where people will bitch, moan and create morasl guidelines for everyone else to follow, the large majority will listen and respect, but there are and will always be people out there who HAVE to be better, who MUST havethe edge etc. You cannot get rid of it, Human Nature, just look at drugs in Olympic's etc.

    Cheaters creating m1a1 or cluster bombs

    May i just point something out here. I dont not in anyway cheat, will cheat or will accept a cheater as fun for me. But my point is that to a Cheater it is fun. Cheater opinion God mode in games is fun fro a while, SP or MP, I couldnt careless if a 32 year old on the other side of the ocean doesnt like what I do. If i want to have fun by being above everyone else, no one will stop me. If i can find a way to do so, good for me, Mr X, C and Miss Z can all play how they like and I will play how I like. Again, that view is not mine, but will you get rid of it? Never

    Ofp2=1970's vietnam,africa,and cantral europe

    Hmm, deep jungle warfare to open deserts in the 70's! I can't wait, and for all those worried about the old weapons 1: You've just been playing with 20-year-old weapons in OFP 2: It will be a matter of weeks after OFP2 release before the Mod’s start coming i guess If its using a similar engine, the ‘Mod God's’ shouldn’t take too long getting reacquainted.

    Multiplayer concept

    Well, in essense Planetside is a futuristic persistant version of OFP multiplayer. I do believe this could be implemented without BIS moving too far away from what they originally had in OFP multiplayer. To further add, the development of your online character will also add the 'materialistic-show-off' factor. An example of what i mean is that Player A is driving to a safe town in the US zone for a spot of socialising in a stolen, and shot up civilian car. Whilst Player A is chatting away about his war stories over a drink, Player B arrives in a Comanche helicopter. Which would you rather show off in? This really soley affects the concept on online play in such a game mode, but wanting to be the best, or have the best of something drives people to play, such is the way MMO's make their money.

    Multiplayer concept

    The basic idea behind this is to have a semi persistent world, that goes on for about a week before restarting. (Restarts to equal sides out) Each side (Examples are American & Russian) has a large base, and the ability to have up to 200 Human players at the same time. When there is a difference between the sides numbers, AI take over until the sides are equally balanced. Back to the game, the Russians must destroy the Americans and Visa Versa. This entails the use of human co-operation. Whilst AI is good, it will never beat human interaction and/or conflict. To start off, neither team knows where the opposing base, outposts or units are. At character creation for the server, you chose the normal aesthetics and class (machine gunner, LAW etc.) The US Major (Server admin) sends out a request to scout for Base/Outpost/Units. You and 3friends take up the task. You are given access to a Humvee by major (previously you were unable to use it), and you go off. You find enemy units, take them out, take co-ordinates, return to base, mission done. You are now given the ability to take out a Humvee from the vehicle compound anytime without permission. Another mission example could be, the Russian Major has been given details of a small US group that frequently visit the town of Little Ville. (This US group is a human group, they have been found and studied by human scouts, or even the US major purposely sent them there to create a player mission) The group has light armour, including a Humvee, and a Comanche helicopter. You and your friends are given access to a Hind and your mission is to destroy the enemy units. You go, and find the town, and in the pub are the US Units, a swift Rocket attack destroys them leaving the Humvee and Comanche untouched. You take both these back to base. Your side now has access to 2 US vehicles that cannot be identified as enemy controlled until close up. You personally gained access to a Rocket Launcher. The battle is won, when a series of set goals have been complete, the enemy base has been taken over or destroyed. Obviously on such a large map, the purpose is less of war, but rather a new human non-death match challenge with a sense of character development. Understandably, it would have to be servers such as Barry’s World that would host such games and since their servers are online 24/7, and attract a large number of players it could work. Give your opinion to this alternative solution to OFP2 multiplayer.
  7. I have seen a few comments like 'this isn't a life sim', 'why not have a breath in breath, out button?' etc and I am concerned about these remarks. Whilst OFP is a very good game, after the SP missions and a few attempts at creating havoc in the Mission Editor, the fun can quickly fade. What I think game developers often miss is the fact many of us Gamers do have an imagination, and do play different roles, an example. In OFP, I often tried to take control of a civilian and Roleplay being at the local Pub when an battle hit the town, or playing a solider from the ground up, having to protect my home using what i can find! Why is it we have to play the standard game, in a different layout with the mission editor? Probally the most individual mission i came u with was a Safari, but without small details such as Animals, or other people it became very hard and monotonous. How can this game become more? How can you make people play longer and not go an buy a rival's product a month later. Attention to the small details is very important. The idea of noticable gear chnage, and option Manual was a good idea, out side of the SP mission's it adds depth, so do animals, intiors and things such as a normal civilian population. Ok this is war, but im talking about after the SP war missions. I always found the very last bonus mission on OFP a joy to play every single time, seeing cars drive around, the tractor on the fields. Please also note, every year, processors approxaitly double capacity so next year they should be around 6.2 GHZ. It i by far enough to have all these oiption without too much hassle, and hopefully 6.2 is a misquote and they have found revolutionary processing powers! I appologise for any spelling mistakes, or if it is hard to understand.
