    One thing I haven't seen much of is civs forming rival gangs, that used to happen in Sahraniville, but not here so much. Perhaps you could look into having somekind of gang forming system? With a change of clothes to show which gang you're part of. There is a way to switch people into different bodies in MP, you could try using that as a method of changing their outfit. Once gangs work, you could look at extra stuff like controlling territory etc

    Haha you fixed my little trick of robbing the bank and then depositing right after Nice one, it will make escaping with the cash a little more tense By "insurgance" I guess you mean Insurance? By the way, eventually you might want to add all these options to the role select screen - e.g. Max respawntime, bank insurance on/off etc. Then server admins can decide how they'd like their game themselves Just make sure the default options are what most people would like, incase an admin isn't around.

    Hello I have some thoughts. 1) I like the change to bank robberies, you now appear to lose a maximum of 5000, which is fine. Â I wouldn't protect people's bank money anymore than that because then the incentive to guard the bank is reduced - and personally I like how a bank robber can be hated by other civs. 2) there really should be a limit to how long your respawn time can get. Â After 7 deaths I was having to wait 200 seconds to spawn - and those deaths were mostly being shot by cops for no reason or getting run over. Â To add to the annoyance, the cops don't suffer such penalties and respawn in a normal amount of time. Â Perhaps you could cap the time at 120 seconds or something? Â And reward the player for staying alive for a long period by deducting a death every real life hour they stay alive (in effect, allowing them to respawn faster next time they die). Â e.g. If you had 3 deaths but then stayed alive for 3 hours, your next respawn would be like your first death. 3) The cops still have life way too easy. Â Most say they have more money than they would ever need. Â Perhaps they could be given performance related pay? Â For example, everytime the bank is robbed, you could reduce cop pay by 25%. Â Then they'd have more incentive to protect it. Â I like how now at the start, the cops only have pistols - and then rifles are enabled later. Â However, rifles and then rocket launchers are enabled far too quickly. Â I'd love to see the police convoy system expanded to help with this: Â A rifle convoy, a grenade convoy, and a heavy weapons convoy. Â If the civs hijack a rifle convoy, the cops don't get resupplied with rifles. Â If they hijack every rifle convoy - the cops *never* get rifles, until one gets through. Â I think this would give the cops some extra things to think about and keep them occupied, rather than harrassing civs all day and making up silly rules like "noone is allowed at the bank". Another idea to make cop life less easy is to add a fuel convoy that is trying to reach the policebase. If it fails to reach the base, the spawn time of new vehicles at the policebase could be increased from 5 seconds to 30 seconds, or something similar. What do you think?

    Could you add a bank terminal to the terrorbase also? It's pretty remote when you get out there and forgot to bring money If theres one in 1.01 ignore, I haven't looked in 1.01

    That is true, having some addons required does go someway to stopping the usual scene of someone joining and saying: "So is this DM or Coop?" And even after being told its RP, they go around killing everyone. At least if a mod is required they have to actually go to a website first and read about it, like Sahraniville.

    Yeah, needs the holster script that is in Sahraniville, so we can at least conceal pistols Also, after a while the civ gun shops fail. They take your money but no weapon appears in the crate, or the weapon does appear in the crate but you cannot take it out.
  8. More and more servers are now running with signature verification on. It's quick and easy to add a signature to your mod, and then people can use your mods on signed servers (if the server admin chooses to allow your mod). I run a busy server and would love to start allowing some of the more widely used mods, but if theres no signature with them, I can't.

    Is a big PublicVar necessarily worse than a small publicVar? I was under the impression it was the overheads and handshaking involved with a PV that caused the congestion rather than its actual contents. But I have very little knowledge on how they actually work. Also it's interesting that you say PVs are automatically sent to new connectors. You mean once something like publicvariable "blah" is done, and then 10 minutes later someone connects, without any new commands the new player gets "blah"? Who sends it? The server?

    If someone has quotes in their name " " " " " " (those things) it screws up the array of scores (or the string, I can't actually work out what you do with them) hence if you leave and come back your score is not saved. This seems like a game issue though, shouldn't the scripting language replace " with something like &quo to avoid these kind of issues?

    Today I captured an officer and flew him back to the pow camp, before i could order him inside it said "your prisoner is trying to escape" - and he made a dash for it towards the US base (not the best way to run but nm). The problem is, once he tries to escape he can't be recaptured. The option is not there.

    Encountered a few bugs today. First bug was, I captured 3 soldiers and drove them in the back of my Stryker to inside the pow camp. I then got the message that I captured a POW and he was removed from my group (as he should be). But the problem arose when I realised that a pow was still in the back of the stryker, and I had jumped out of the driver's seat. With no way to order them out, the Stryker was stuck there forever - since with pows in a vehicle you cannot enter it. Second bug was, I entered a game and selected an Engineer role - but I appeared to have an AI squad leader. I had no idea where he was or why he was alive, but he was running the squad for this engineer slot, meaning I couldn't access the radio menu etc. I had to change slots to fix that.

    How can a average player get some MP fun?

    A recent dedicated server update blocked illegal cdkeys, which possibly could account for the drop in players. In addition, there have been some really game ruining hacks released in the past few months that have driven a lot of players into giving up with open server play. Sad, but thats how it's been.

  17. I installed the new beta dedicated server on my server, and i'm happy to see that people connecting with invalid arma IDs are now immediately disconnected! This is very good news since it now means an ID ban actually means something. Go upgrade!

    Jolt.co.uk will do you a server based in europe. Arma isn't on the game list but you can request it manually.
  19. By the way, does anyone know if the person connecting with an invalid key gets a proper message saying "your key is invalid"? Or am I going to have a bunch of "WHY WAS I KICKED" threads on our forum?
  20. Have you tried having signature checking enabled? Â Really, I have very little trouble with hackers with that on.
