Tactical Run Vs. Get The Hack Out Of Dodge Run
dayglow replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Sprint is already limited by stanima. You hold down the 'turbo' button and it only lasts a short while until you slow back down. -
Arma uses CPU PhysX. No gain from running a dedicated GPU PhysX.
-
People pay $100's for a better video card to get a 14fps increase. A 30% increase is the norm for people moving from last gen to current gen cards.

another possibility is that since the GTX 690 is a dual gpu card, it actually only has 2gb of VRAM per gpu, so in reality it only has 2gb. You are running x8 AA in game. You could be running out of VRAM causing the dive in FPS. Try running less AA and see if that helps. -
If both are Nvidia cards then you could use the old 650 as a dedicated PhysX card. This would have limited use as the game would need to support GPU PhysX (Arma uses CPU PhysX so it would do nothing for this game). Other than that, no it would not help out with the rendering in any way.

It's an Easter egg. You have to find it.
-
Pic you are using the in game list to enable mods you need to manually delete the line from the user config or delete the pbo from the mod folder.
-
You don't? I see a very distinct drop going from none -> x2 -> x4 -> x8 I leave it off and rely on SMAA
-
I find Arma runs fine as long as you keep realistic view distance and AA settings. These 2 can bring a system to its knees. I have a i3820 w/ sli 660ti's. It's a high end system, but I do push 3 1080P monitors with it. With SMAA normal and 3000m view distance I can max all other settings and still get 30+ fps. If you're a 60fps or give me death type person you'll never be satisfied.

Arma 3 Engine - What would have been a better option and what can we learn?
dayglow replied to squirrel0311's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Look at the size of the dev teams Ubisoft throws Assasins Creed to have a yearly release. -
My headset is wired so the TIR wire is no biggy.

I'd love to see the dead zone variable depending on stance and movement speed. If you're prone then max dead zone so you aren't moving your whole body to aim while lying down. Crouching would have a smaller dead zone, standing even smaller. Walking forward have some dead zone for off axis aiming, combat pace almost none, and of course jogging and sprinting you can't aim anyways.

If you want to share your awesome skills then you could download the Dev Branch version and participate in that forum and make suggestions. -

Playable landmass for JC2 is around 230 km2 from what I can find on the net. Atlis has 250km2 of landmass as well as a rendered sea floor. -
GTX TITAN SLI OC (2000€) = 30 / 25 fps
dayglow replied to flowa91's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
OP what is your view distance set at? How high AA? I run an OC 3820 @ 4.4 with a 660ti SLI setup and get around 30-40 fps on 3 screens in SP and Coop with most setting on high with a 2500m view distance and no AA. -

Not quite. Just Cause 2 map is 250km2 while Atlis is 270km2 of landmass and not including sea floor. The total map is 300km2. -
I've been on board with this series from downloading hacked missions for the OFP demo months before its release. Do I give BI some leeway? Absolutely. They have provided a very unique mil-sim experience no other developer has been able to provide. I know from experience that BI will support and improve the game. Hell if you look at the OFP forum they released a patch for that game in 2012. Im a little disappointed that the Arma3 release is less than perfect, but I can read between the lines and know that some very unique circumstances have contributed to the less than stellar release. But from past experience I know that it will get better. If this was EA I would be a lot more upset. But since it's BI I know there will be massive post release support. They have earned my trust.

You could try the User Mission Forum. Lots of conversation over there about missions.

And on the DCS forums you'll see endless bitching about under utilizing of CPU and GPU, stutters, etc. Strangely familiar. -
Really? I seem to remember around 7 SP missions in OFP.
-
Outside of the campaign (yes I'm disappointed it wasn't part of the release) there are the same amount of missions in the past games. User content has always been central to the game since OFP.
