XM101 Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CRO
Chip360 replied to Chip360's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
mmm... Such is sad news  Well I hope the Imw mod is able to bump this one up on their list of things to do... I wish I had more familiarity with modeling and/or in this case, scripting... Or I would be doing it myself plaintiff... Im afraid my skills are limited to mapping and re-textures (the easiest of all Arma mods I would assume) ------------------------------------ Well, how difficult would it be (seeking a real modeler/scripters opinion here) to take the platform seen on the Stryker in-game and add it to the top of the Hmmwv, then add in the interface for the gunner (as in, using all vanilla arma models and such, no modeling work required)? For begginers, such as myself, are there any tutorials specific to this kind of thing? (ie, taking a scope from one rifle and sticking it on another, or a gun or turret from one vehicle and placing it on another) ? -

I don't think so. Â If it was simple, you could do it yourself, no? I of course meant it would be a rather simple project for some of the extremely talented addonmakers on this forums, lets not start this discussion... you understood what I meant... -
So what if most of his work is copying and pasting? If I want a stock M249 in game, with an acog scope from another rifle, then someone has got to get it done. You people continuously make me sick, do you Dm want to go make a set of all the vanilla rifles in game with all sorts of various different scopes? Perhaps keep the realism up to the level that you believe is "required" before releasing an addon to the community? Well that would be just swell, hell, you could even release your own g-36 pack with all of the "proper" scopes and rail attachments, that would be great, I would download it. But... what if I want a fictional g-36 with some of the common scopes and such in the game? Who the hell would give me that? Apparently most of the people on these forums believe in censoring work that is not realistic, or work that is still wip... Dm, I see where you are comming from, but there ARE people on here that enjoy addons such as this, including myself, so please go crawl back into the hole from which you crept out of... thank you And to you BigMike, I really hope you continue your work, as little or small it may seem in the eyes of some of the modelers on these forums, for it still holds value to some of us. Oh also @DM: Then perhaps "Modeler" was the wrong term to use, I merely meant "Creator of Armed Assault Addons". Now seriously drop this.

Ya, we need some more sharp sounds and cracks ... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=013_1200034647

Wow, you guys... stop being immature and messed up.... I like news and updates and releases of any addon, no matter the quality or "realisticness." Give the guy a break, he is pursuing a dream of being a modeler, he wants to share some of his first work... The quality may not be that great (and heck, those helicopters were a bit of a joke...) but thats why it doesnt say "version: FINAL", its all Wip! Relax! We should not all jump the gun and start kicking peoples addons off the forum because they do not meet your or anyone elses requirements for quality, or if they are "Science Fiction", "C grade" or not.... simply do not download them if you dont want to use them! You guys have been behaving very rudely, and the flamebaiting is just childish. Now... On topic, and hopefully we shan't stray off again, I really liked the "Bigmikes Gun-Pack". It was interesting to play with an m249 with acog scope, and the aks with scopes were neat too, realistic or not, hell, if i owned the weapon, and all i had was a "x" brand scope, I would sure as hell find a way to mount it, whether its normal or realistic or not, called improvisation. It was a very good start bigmike, keep it up. if you find yourself twiddling your thumbs, try going back and polishing over some of your old work, releasing updates and such, but dont give up!

Edit: From Below: Original Text: Ok, so like the title says, I am running on Vista X86 bit, and the Pbo tool (Neither of the 2 that I know of) are working. I dont get any new options to exract when I right click and nothing happens  There must be someone that knows how to fix this problem! Edit: Ok, so can someone at least confirm that these tools work with Vista and maybe tell me how they did it?

Oh my, there is no way that hovercraft can look that good in the game, there is just no way, that was a model and texture job of phenomenal quality

Because, so often what I've highlighted in bold is NOT the case. Whoever does the reskin packages the addon as "Joe Schmoes AAV7" rather than "Joe Schmoes Reskin of Someone Elses AAV7". While this is quite true, BI's stance towards the community (i.e. encouraging modding) means that they tend not to mind not being credited/asked for permission. That being said, I'm not sure how they feel about the game content being ripped apart for the numerous (and more often than not hideous) "kitbashing" copy/paste addons. But I certainly DO NOT speak on behalf of BI, they might not mind. Ah, I see, I believe you should always give credit to the author of whose work you are editing. Thank you for your reply.

OMFG +12049812049810957103471029482-194801928409128430912813EQWJSDKL@! And im looking forward to the release of the predator!!!!

Did I see an AAV7 Retexture a few pages back?? Did the gentleman in possesion of them get permission to release those retextures? Also, and please dont jump on me, im simply curious here, why is the permission to release a retexture of a vehicle needed? I can understand direct changes to the model, or claiming the model to be yours, but if you only are releasing a new texture entirely created by you to replace a texture already in your game, and you give credit to the author of the model you are texturing, for example, Bi, isnt that like a modification of a mod? We need not seek the permission of BI to release retextures of their units right? Isnt it the same way? Im not to sure here, and like I said, please dont blow a gasket, real innocent question... Anywho, im really excited about this mod!! Great work! Â

YES! Thank you!!! This is just what I needed for a mission im working on!!!

Hello all, I just now encountered a new issue with Armed Assault (well, new for me at least). I have heard plenty about the various glitches and such with nvidia 8xxx series cards, however I have not heard anything about old Ati X series cards. I am running an Amd Athlon X2 4200+ @2.69 Ghz and my Gfx card is an Ati X800 XL (Stock: 400;490 OC'ed@: 461; 603) and I am using Windows Vista x86 with the newest Ati Drivers (cat 7.9 i think?) My overclocks are stable, I have checked them and torture tested them again and again, and I was able to play Armed Assault with them fine until moments ago. All I did was install the "TrueView" mods to my ArmA Installation, and Now I am getting various texture glitches (Ie, Black spots rapidly appearing on the ground or on rocks, and the sky flippin out occasionally). At first I thought perhaps it was the new Ui, but then I realized this was not so. Then I thought "perhaps my x800 is overheating?" this was not the case, I have checked it and its absolutely fine. The game atm runs great, steady 25 or so frames (On Rhamadi :P, anywhere else and it becomes a slideshow) however this new "glitch" is unbearably annoying. Has anyone else had any problems with the old Ati 'X' series cards? Does anyone know what may be wrong? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, ArmA is my favorite game in the entire WORLD and it is a bummer to not be able to play it anymore  EDIT: I was just now playing, and everything was okay for a few moments, but about 7 minutes in, the textures started to do it again, and even in the editor i saw the screen warping, then, suddenly and without warning the entire game crashed to black, and i heard a sound glitching over and over again (sounded like a broken record). I had to restart my computer..... so apparently something is not all that stable now is it? I checked my temps before it happened, 40 degrees celcius which is normal for my grafix card, and im not sure as to my CPU temp, but when it overheats (and I know this a lot because I overclock hard sometimes) the air comming out of my fan gets to feel warm, the air was very cool to the touch jsut before the crash... so I dont think it was overheating.... anyone know any solutions yet? any ideas? Mods: Perhaps it would be best to change the title to "Flickering" or "Shuttering Textures", The thread below mine (or maybe it is above now) placed the wrong word in my head!

haha, yes, of course, it is a most excellent addon! I should rephrase something too, um, neither of those are full lists, all of the units are in the game, everything has been renamed successfully and it all checks out fine, but the only problem is the order in which everything is in the editor, ide love to make it all alphabetical order, perhaps it is possible to make a script or config or something to make such a change to the editor?
-
Hey thar everybody, I just spent the past 4 hours unPBOing all of my various addons (about 17 gb Worth) and changing the display names for every addon I own in the configs (for consistency, ie. you wont see \\\$^@CKZ @DDON!/// in the editor, but "US 2nd MEF (Desert) ) It took a very long time, and for a quick sample of what I have, lookey here: It all looks MUCH nicer! So, pheww, thats all done, but Ive run into a problem, I fired up Armed Assault, went into the editor, and what did I find? US 2nd MEF (Mar) BW Air US 82nd Airborne US Swat (Dallas) Air Pilots Everything is out of order!!! BUGh!!!! I then noticed that everything you see in the editor is arranged according to how the PBO's are arragned in the addon folder.... ugh, i have over 200 Pbos in my main Addon Folder alone, and they all have various (very difficult and random) names.. Is there a way to arrange things in the editor according to Alphabetical order of the Display names? Ie, Air would come first, then Bw, then the US units, etc? Does anyone know how to do this? If not, what are your thoughts on the rehaul of the editor? has anyone here tried to do something along the same lines as me? Anyone find any solutions that work? There are starting to be sooo many addons out there and when everyone names them bogus vague names like "my first addon" and "alrunit2.2" things start to become extremely difficult in the editor...

lol.....

Confirmed shoot out of non-gunner positions
Chip360 replied to mr.g-c's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Um... regaurdless of whats fair or not, every weapon has its own accuracy, that doesnt change, whether your in a vehicle or not, the decrease in accuracy in a vehicle will vary depending on how well you can steady your weapon while moving and such. -
I love you IMWM TEAM!!!! (Awaiting Updatadas! )
