Of course! "Who Dares Brews" as we [used to] say! Oh, Wilco, sorry! Your texturing is very good (but all those new American uniforms do get so confusing to an old fart such as myself   )

Yes, what with all the "smileys" and shit it was obviously a jest! At least "Clavicula_nox" has a decent sense of humour!

Logical South Sahrani Kits
Col. Faulkner replied to DUX0726's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I can understand that but...Blah! Hey, let's make a deal. If you can get models done for the humans and you want FNCs or G3s or FALs or AUGs then I can do them for you! Don't you worry about that! M16s are just soooo passe I was working on models for the NI mod before it went tits up. Here's the FAL I was working on, for example. -

Well I suggested it first, and I've never "used it". It "fits" fine! -
Could always quit complaining and make your own. I'm not complaining. And in any case why would I ever want to just repaint stupid yank models? I'm waiting for the modelling tools so I can make some proper soldiers.

Well, that's what he gets for being an attention-seeking whore! The "topic" is more than adequately covered in the original thread.

What camoflauge fits Sahrani best?
Col. Faulkner replied to j w's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I concur, and given that some of the uniform items used by the Argies in the Falklands war emanated from Israel, it's not totally unlikely that an island in the S. Atlantic like Sahrani might have them too. -
It's not "demand what you want"! We're trying to enter into the spirit of it and suggest reasoned possibiities. Personally I couldn't really care less what gets finally implemented - most of us on this "addons" forum could easily change it anyway.

a few addon/mod ideas i had...
Col. Faulkner replied to DieAngel's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I think he means the dangerous backblast from shoulder-fired rocket and recoil-less weapons. -
Yeah, the "huge, all encompassing" mod model doesn't often work out, does it? Shame, as I'd have loved to have seen "Inv '44" properly finished.

I'm getting lost among all these different yank uniforms now
-
Ah, bollocks! I thought "Hellenic warfare" would be phalanges and hoplitai! Very nice looking renders though!

Yes, but everyone knows that the grunts on the sharp end always end up getting screwed over. The corruption won't extend to expensive "exotica" for the army. "Weapons are just a tool. If it goes "bang" and hits what you aim at, that'll do!" Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â -- "Andy McNab" "Hey, [weapons are] a toolbox, you just put the tools in that you need for the job" Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â -- "Sam" (Robert de Niro's character in "Ronin")

I think he just means that the character's moves are a bit too "lazy". In Shotokan (which is the only style I really know about), the performance of the kata movements does vary in speed and power. I don't train Kyokushin-kai myself, but I do know that their workouts are bloody hard! I have a lot of respect for them. And yes, I think the animation is great. It almost looks like a real person!

Yeah, what I said too. Either the FNC (or IMBEL if you want a S. American flavour), and FN MAG (or the M60 to make it different from the Americans in the game) Yes, G36 is too "up market" for them, I think. Their "Special Forces" need not automatically use different weapons from the "regulars", though. Weapon choice would naturally depend on their mission. They should have a selection of SMGs, light assault weapons and heavier weapons available (MP5 or UMP or Uzi or Ingram, M16/M203, FNC, Steyr, G3, FN MAG or M60 &cet ).

Col. Faulkner replied to DieAngel's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Actually, the M249 guns in ArmA can use the STANAG M16 magazines in the game already. OK, when you "lock n' load" one (see, I'm picking up this weird American terminology already? Â ) you don't actually see the magazine fitted to the model (you just see the normal ammo can and linked rounds leading into the feed tray) but you do get 30 rounds to fire. And yes I'd like weapon jams too. -
As with all other mods and addons.

Non RPG style weapons in the Heavy slot?
Col. Faulkner replied to mechastalin's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
If I remember correctly, there was a way worked out for carrying two "main weapons" in some of the Op. Flashpoiint addons. I remember a "Vietnam" American infantry addon that had men with an M16 and a shotgun. Also I recall now that rucksacks were implemented in a Flashpoint modern British Infantry addon (but with the restriction that once dropped they could not be picked up again). -

Col. Faulkner replied to mechastalin's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yes, I'd really like to see some kind of "weight" system too, and rucksacks. It'd be even better if it could take account of "bulk" too (eg. if you only have two small ammo pouches on your belt then you cannot carry six 30rd STANAG mags and 4 hand grenades - no matter how much you'd like to) -

Col. Faulkner replied to DUX0726's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yes, I'd agree with this. A more realistic fighting load would be two APers grenades and one WP/smoke (and some link - ie. a length of ammo belt - for the squad/section's MG, if you want to get that "detailed"). And please could we not have M16s? If it has to be 5.56mm what about the steyr AUG or the FNC or the IMBEL -

I see where you're coming from with the "Royal Guard" outfit. If it was me, though, I'd just make them wear some kind of camouflage uniform (starched and pressed with lots of "insignia" and well different from the regular army) with the kepi. If you start to suspect that the kepi looks too "French" then you might want to think of some kind of side cap (for example, similar to the Spanish Foreign Legion ) Anyway, I'll shut up now, it's your project. I hope something ultimately comes of it in the game. -

Col. Faulkner replied to DUX0726's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I would also like to mention that the Heckler and Koch MP5 is an unlikely choice for a "fairly poor" army. The MP5 is quite expensive - witness the irony of the West German Bundeswehr being unable to afford them and using the Uzi instead. Someone also suggested the RPD as a machine gun. That isn't very likely either as it fires the same ammo as the AK47 (unless the riflemen use the AK47 too). I'd suggest the good old 7.62mm NATO FN MAG, or the M60. -

Col. Faulkner replied to DUX0726's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
All very interesting, but why give the regular infantrymen a submachine gun? Why not an obsolescent battle rifle? Are there any infantry forces in the world that are armed only with SMGs? From your description I envisage something like this (adding a PASGT vest): -
That isn't what I was meaning. Yes, you can use it for modern day warfare, but ArmA does not support the most salient features of 21st Century combat "out of the box" and would require complex and extensive modification in order to model it with any sort of authenticity. The modern "battlespace" is quite a bit more than a bunch of yanks running about with "aimpoints" on their M16s with a crude and unrealistic "night vision" view as the epitome of "high technology". ArmA's real forte is in open conventional low-tech' engagements. It models such engagements really quite well without any further ado (the AI notwithstanding) which is why I said it is eminently suited to a Second World War and postwar milieu.
