Emmm..... PAL version?!?!? Someone enlight the 505 GS about of the ArmA are an PC game, where are no PAL/NTSC versions? ^^

@DeadMeat: I'm very happy, if a correct MH-60L addon come out. ^^ @Frans: Sorrowly i only have around two hour to play, then need to rush back my workplace, so cannot test everything. When i fly the AV-8B, use standard takeoff and landing method, i did not find any VTOL landing possibility in the action menu, but perhaps i just missed. @Straw Dog: Sorry, i forgot to mention, i play in 1680x1050 resolution, the screens have the same, if you see it.

Just short impressions after 2 hour try: -The english-language trick are far for perfect, the missions briefing, and many HUD element (like guns name) are remain czech. With this, i hardly try to begin the campagin... :\ -The TrackIR rocks!!! I have a TrackIR 4Pro, and have absolutely positive feelings about using under ArmA. -The AI are... well, not really perfect. I shoot down an truck driver with M24 sniper rifle, but the driver two comrades, sitting alongside are doing nothing... -The game need a decent PC. I have an AMD A62X2 4000+ @ 2400Mhz, 2Gbyte Ram, GeForce 7900GTX, and playing all options set to Very High, except Anti-aliasing, wich set to Low. Note: default the anti-aliasing setting are medium, wich hardly eat the VGA! I get the following performance: 1200m sighting distance: Wandering outside towns: 30Fps In towns: 25-30Fps Firefight between several soldier: 25-30Fps Firefight in town: 20-25Fps Flying outside towns: 30Fps Flying above larger towns: 25Fps 3500m distance: In land: 25-30Fps In town: 22-25Fps Firefight outside towns: 20-25Fps Flying in daylight: 20-25Fps Flying in midnight: 15-25Fps 10000m distance: In land: 15Fps In flying: 8-15Fps Flying in midnight: 6-10Fps I try a short Stress-test, using 180 infantry unit and 24 M1A1 tanks, i get around 20 Fps flying above with an helicoter, and 16-18Fps walking among them (two last pics). Probably because STEAM is the devil, and personally I'd rather wait another four months for ArmA than have to install that trash on my precious laptop. Thank you! Been discussed and those against it heavily outnumbered those for it. And how many people argued against the STEAM? A Dozen? Perhaps twenty? A little more? Accept it: the masses of players are not exits in this forum. The STEAM has several million account. At least thousands of STEAM users interest to bought ArmA. And if your one of the many country, wich wont have ArmA distributor, this is the only real way to get the game legally, easly and relatively painfully. Wich is better? If you wont like STEAM, no problemo, wait until you can get somehow the game. But actually in the situation, like currently the BIS and ArmA have, the STEAM (or similar type of online distribution) imho the best option. If you know a better way, then go on, and enlight me...

False. If you wont have internet connection, the STEAM offer you to start as offline. You can play any games you have under STEAM. Anybody can try it, who has STEAM... When you account are banned, you do something, wich is illegal, like try to use false card numbers, or use cracked STEAM files. When you accept the term of use, you accept this. I (and many of my mates) use the STEAM for years. In the early years, yes, even i hated very much. About the last two years, i bought and play many STEAM distributed games (HL2, Sin:Episodes, Red Orchestra, etc.). Dont have any problem with it, even complete computer change are solved easly. The last problem i has, when i try to use my card number, and the STEAM reject it, i wrote an e-mail to the support, and within 24 hours i get an answer, then i can use my card without problem. This was happened in 2004... So if you wont have experience with STEAM, dont try to criticsm...

Your kidding right? About what? About to buy an Czech version even if i dont understand? No. I'm serious. (call me fanatic ) About the feelings toward the BIS, because the distribution problems. No. I'm dont know why the BIS dont try to distribute the ArmA under STEAM, or try to make an alternative methode, like an Czech made english version, can be bought online, and send by mail or UPS/FedEx/Etc...

Excuse me, but why BIS ignoring the possibility of the STEAM distribution? Simple, no problem where you live, if you have an internet connection and a bankcard capable to use in internet payment, you can use it. Yep, many people hate the STEAM system, but i think most of the ArmA fan are can accept it, exchange for the earlier release (remember, no official english version at least 3 more month! ), and the easier option of buying when live an undistributed area, like the US. Personally i decided to buy an Czech version, with the help of the hungarian OFP scene, and hope there is an way to translate to english or hungarian (when we get it, we see it). It's an hard choice, i'm angry toward the BIS, because the distribution problems (again: online distribution), but i try to respect their work. I hope they deserve it after all...

Hungary, wich is good and bad in this situation. Bad, because no "505 Area", and currently no hungarian publisher for ArmA Good, because we are close to Slovakia and Austria, so relatively easly to reach the game...

Nice, and if we see from buisness viewpoint, correct. But, if i see as an eager OFP / ArmA fan, i feel betrayed. I wont say a word when the BIS slide the pressumed ArmA release date time after time. I wont say a word, when the localized release dates are come out. I dont care about anything, i can sustain release over STEAM, i can live with the most hardcore copy-protection are exits. I want the game badly, and wait patient. Until now. I plan to get to my car, and travel even several hundred kilometer, if needed, to buy my ArmA. But this 'no for english' localization means this plan has sinked. So, i have two choice: -Try to force a smile for my face, and wait months more, just because of this. Not because the game is not ready, just because the english version are behind time, thanks for the publisher, and thanks for BIS (i know the apology, but i can't accept it). If someone speak german, czech, polish or russian, they can play the game earlier. I just unlucky... -I wait for a hacked / cracked version, and forget the problems with legal issues... Thats what i deserve it? PS.: Sorry Placebo, i know this is not really on-topic...

Go to the ArmA Progress Update topic, and in the 331 page seek SGT. Hurley post dated Oct. 12 2006,13:07. In short term: no, the localized versions wont have English language options. If this is true, we can make an easy statement: if you cant understand Czech, Polish, German or Russian language, you cant play the game (legally) until 2007 Q1, when the international version release come out. Or you make a prayer, and wait until someone solve this "little" problem, and hack the game...
