Sorry, I have searched but I am not sure this has been answered. To the point.. I have played OFP, ARMA but not ARMAII. I recently purchased OA but have not opened it because of mixed comments. I understand the online community will do a lot of combined maps (ARMA and OA) and was wondering if I will miss anything by only have OA (i.e. not be able to play some maps) or will any combined map be available for download and I can play it through OA?? Speaking of course, about multiplayer.. Should I keep OA and have plenty of maps to play REturn OA and get combined ops? TIA

Will I miss anything by only have OA
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yeah, suprisingly I just now played the demo. Truth be told, I kind of gave up on BI/ARMA after ARMA came out. I was so disappointed that I did not try anything else, then arrowhead sparked my interest. The ARMAII demo is pretty good, I was actually impressed. So, I will be getting CO soon and will see some of you out there.. Thanks for the replies. -
Will I miss anything by only have OA
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Thanks for the replies. I will return OA and get the combined ops and I am kicking myself as I picked up the combined ops, put it down and get OA and save the 10 bucks. I figured if I havent purchased ARMA2 since 2009, no need to do it now. I am just concerned about the community (is it strong).. I was a hardcore OFP player and have since missed that type of gaming... Cant stand the run, gun no thought games. My big question is that, how is the community? Sounds like it is strengthening with the release of OA? -
Well, I talk a few buddies into finally coming back and playing Arma. Everything was good until this guy starts shooting multiple smoke out of his weapon until the map lagged like nobodies business. Then, he loaded GBU's and leveled the entire map. Half the server left but we played on. We started a new mission but a new guy comes in w/ custom sound files. They were all very long and annoying such as a screetching sound, etc. After that, we had habitual TKER's This just ruins a good game. I am just about to give up on it. Its much worse than I ever remember OFP. BIS needs two things immediately. One: penalty for TKing such as a prompt w/ the option to kll the offender or forgive. Two: really needs a cheat detection that does not lag the server. I'm in favor of PB. If you think about it, Americas Army is one of the most hacked games w/ a couple million players. PB has banned around 40,000 I estimate (may or may not be close). The community for Arma is much smaller so if bans can be handed out or even just make it harder to hack, then it would weed out the hackers fairly quickly or at least reduce them. Just a couple of thoughts.

Idea for BI: Autobalance
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
LOL, yeah, what cam said. Geez, I dont want it to be mandatory, but just an OPTION. When your an hour into a 2 1/2 hour RTS and people start getting the teams lopsided because they override the autobalance that is already in place by switching to the winning team or team that already has excess players, then that swings the momentum drastically and basically ruins a 2 hour mission. I will have to check out the scripts available. And NO, an autobalance will not turn this into BF2. -
This has probably already been said, but since topics are all put in one thread and the search feature in this forum isn't that good, I made a seperate post. It would be nice to have an autobalance feature for the servers, whereas people joining in game would be forced to join a team if that team is a man down.

Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.
Cerebral_Assassin replied to XJ220's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Seems like an increase in performance for me when using default textures. I have not confirmed this w/ quantitative data though. Also, I emailed softwrap yesterday, and they fixed the problem and email me back today. Very fast turnaround. Much better than when 1.05 came out. -
Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.
Cerebral_Assassin replied to XJ220's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
LOL, I installed 1.08, and had to reactivate and it worked like a charm. Played the game, etc. I did get a campaign/ca.pbo error, but the game works and I joined servers. But, when I left the game, the desktop icon is now a lock instead of the normal arma symbol. But, the game is still working in multiplayer? Dont know, but I figure I'll have the same problem w/ 1.05 that is, I'll start crashing in MP, and it will take softwrap 2 weeks to fix the problem!! -

Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
srry mods, I thought i was putting this in the troubleshooting thread. If you dont mind, move it for me plz. -
Anyone know why I get the error addons campaigns\ca.pbo error found while installing 1.08 patch? I haven't edited it or anything. I did click ignore, finished the install, and the game is running. Havent tried campaigns though!

Hello all. I searched around and didnt find an exact thread pertaining to this. I normally play on the same server. We play a huge RTS mission, normally about 25 players and 50-100 AI. I used to have no problems (2 weeks ago) but now it seems that through the entire 2 hours of the mission, i either have a constant red or yellow chain. I know they mean weak/losing connection, but I dont lose connection. I basically end up off sync w/ the server later in the mission. I have checked /turned off firewall to see, I've unplugged router and direct wired modem. I dont know what the problem could be. Its a 4mb connection and I havent made any changes in the past couple of weeks!! Thannks in advance

Ok, I have been reading this forum until my eyes bleed but didnt find a clear cut solution. I saw things about Nforce 4, tried router settings, etc. I patched to 1.05 (I have the sprocket version: Czech). I was able to play for about 3 days w/o any problems. Now, when I try to play MP, I get the server list, but whenever I try to join a server my game freezes at "Wait for host". I have to reboot to get past this. I've alt tabbed and used task manager to shut down the process but no/go. No errors, no anything, just freezes. Â I dont know what has changed or what the problem is. Does anyone have a suggestion? Also, I read and found out that it is normal to have an arma.locked application in the program files for the sprocket version. Correct me if this is wrong.. Little update: I just was able to join a server and play for 10 min. I was ready to leave and try another but when I pushed disconnect, i locked up?? What is this. very, very weird!!! As stated before, this game worked perfect for three days on this system. I am completely dumbfounded. Specs are AMD X2 3800 ASUS M2n-e SLI w/ Nforce5 Nvidia 7900GS 256mb PC6400 Corsair 2GB Windows XP

Constant yellow/red chain
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
Thanks deadfast. I am playing the same mission as 2 weeks ago. When the chains occur, normally, a few other players have desync, but not many. Maybe 2 or 3 out of 35. I do, however, get a couple of error during the mission. These are addon errors. Also, we all get the "scooler array ocxleff" error or whatever that is. I mainly seems like I'm one of the worst laggers. I've tried trace routes, and ping checks. Trace is normal and ping never exceeds 100. Dont know, but only happens past an hour into the mission!! I do need to try other servers!! -
Locks up at "Wait for Host"
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
With all do respect, telling me I'm a little doorknob is not a respectful reply and if he sees fit to make statements like that one, I will respond to them. It baffles me that you are focusing all your attention on me and are blinded to his comments such as "what a little doorknob you are" and "wild guess" You dont find someone calling you a doorknob offensive? To the problem of crashing. If anyone can respectfully give me an idea, keeping in mind I have read tons of threads about it, it would be greatly appreciated. -
Locks up at "Wait for Host"
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yeah, I've read most of your post desert. . It is NOT a firewall issue since I dont have one enabled. It is not a router issue, since I opened all ports AND unplugged and direct wired. WILD GUESS!!! Any other suggestions -

Locked Icon: Softwrap
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Anybody? I emailed but no response so far. Been 2 days. Any number I can call? -
Hello all, I weeded through the 20 pages of the post that came up when I searched sprocket or softwrap locked and didnt see anything with this, or just missed it. I've had ArmA since december but built a PC last week. Installed ArmA, re-activated w/ no prob. Played a few times. Well, the other day, the game partially uninstalled on its own, but would run and then crash when I entered a server. So I reinstalled, reactivated. No probs  Played the past couple of days but tonight, I went to play and crashed when joining a server twice, had to reboot. I went into the programs folder and noticed I had a filed called arma.locked and the icon that launches arma looked like a padlock Really, really weird. Anyone know what this is? BTW, I did find some people talking about CTD when joining MP. I must point out that for the past 2 months I have had absolutely NO problems joining MP and I cannot recall one single CTD other than the past few days. To think of it, it did not occur until I applied 1.05 patch!! Maybe a new issue.

Locked Icon: Softwrap
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yeah, wish I could say the same. I can play SP as much as I want but crash as SOON as I click join a server. I can even see the entire server list..Anything I can edit or what? -

Any solutions and/or possible causes? More importantly solutions (other than uninstall/reinstall) -
Ok all, I have a weird problem. Up until the other night, Teamspeak worked perfect. All the sudden I had a red x over my green light. well, I upgraded audio drivers and reinstalled. Now, I can not get the green light to light up. I've tried EVERYTHING. Changing keys, voice activation. It has nothing to do w/ my mic since the button wont even light w/ key settings. Any ideas? Anyone know the name of the codecs installed and location? I suspect that may be the problem but not sure. Thanks.

Weird TeamSpeak Problem
Cerebral_Assassin replied to Cerebral_Assassin's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
LOL, yeah. You hit the nail on the head. no life!!!! You got it buddy. You know me!!! Kyle, look at your first post before you speak of someones attitude. Should I quote it or what? I have no problem w/ my attitude, but do have problems with people who are just out to cause conflict, like yourself because someone is trying to fix an issue. Also, my post was no mistake. It was put where I meant to put it. Now, if you have nothing to help the issue, and since the post is in the "correct" place, STOP SPAMMING THIS THREAD so maybe someone who is trying to help can possibly post. -

thanks hoz..Kyle, mind your own business. Go find another battle to fight. Its a simple attempt by me to find a solution to a chronic problem. If you cant handle that, dont read the thread. You mean to tell me you took the time to open, read and flame my thread just because you have nothing better to do? What is it hurting? Get a life -

Weird TeamSpeak Problem

If your not gonna help the issue, dont post. I have been trying to fix this problem for 5 days w/ no avail. With the large community here, I was taking a chance that someone knew how to fix this problem, if you must know. Not to mention a LOT of people use TS while playing ArmA
