    The Iraq thread 4

I saw the other day on CNN tha Dubya has threatened to veto a military spending bill of $400 billion because the senate attached an amendment clearly defining and strictly prohibiting torture!! I saw John McCain interviewed and he said members of the military had pleaded with him for it. It seems TBA will never miss an opportunity to fuck things up

by the start of OFP? I get it and some other users too. Also get that error. And I was patient, took the time to remove ALL my addons, replacing 10 at a time, until I narrowed it down to the SEF Misc v1.0.pbo. D/l'd it several times and still get that error. Anyone know a fix? I get this error too I also tried to adjust the dsipersion on the minigun (for private use ). I changed it to "dispersion=0.0001" under "class SEF_M134_V1: MachineGun12_7" but nothing changed Any ideas?

Hmmm I think that errrm.... yeah everything that General Barron said. Good to see ya back too! I thought you were in waist deep in flood water somewhere? Aside from the actual hitting the target factor of HD mags, missning more means needing more ammo and that makes for a more immersive missions. The dispersion on the mags in SEB Nampack are very high and it can be frustrating having Charlie/An imperialist zeroed and watching bullets impact all around him but on not on him. It makes for a few ammo drop scripts and stuff, which adds to the mission and makes you conserve your ammo, which I spose is a bit more realistic/believable.

How is WWII remembered in your country?

A lot to read there I know. I'm an Australian living in Japan. I have a close German friend and have discussed WWII with many Germans who can explain the details of an amazing number of incidents and events. In Japan people are mostly entirely ingnorant to WWII as a whole. I have to say that it REALLY fu%ks me off how some can be quite openly racist towards foreigners and at the same time have absolutely no idea whatsoever that the country and race they are convinced are so superior was responsible for unspeakable acts of barbarity. I have been to Yasukuni Shrine. I went to the museum there and it is a fucking disgrace. The Rape of Nanking is mentioned and described as a liberation, the final sentence reads "...the Chinese were soundly defeated, suffering heavy casualties. INside the city, residents were once again able to live their lives in peace." Imagine the liberation of Poland being vaunted in Berlin. MacCarthy refered to the Japanese as "...a nation of 12 year old children."

I read a quote somewhere... "Any man who is not a communist at 20 is a fool. Any man who is still a communist at 30 is an even bigger fool." Although I don't agree entirely, It struck a chord with me and I decided to write one of my own. "Any man who is ever a Republican is a fucking idiot"

    Casurina Island

I have a shitty old PC that runs OFP just well enough to test addons on Desert Island. I think this island of yours is going to cost me dearly... Can I just add that there needs to be a balance between places where people work and where they live. Eg each skyscraper will need a few hundred people, who'll need a couple less hundred houses, if the islands going to feel realistic.

Recent US governments policies toward Cuba show just how scared they are that independence of the USA might take root in Latin America. Cuba nationalised US companies and have had to struggle under embargo for decades. China butchered pro-democracy demonstrators in Tiennamien Square (granted Cuba locks 'em up ), 15 years later, it's Uncle Sam's biggest trading partner Now Vietnam is slowly getting back in the good books.

I don't want to go off topic here, BUT I live in Japan and I can tell you that the Japanese Empire is alive and well. Most people here have no idea at all what happened in WW2.

    What happened in Bosnia 1993?

I have a good friend who lives near Mostar. I visited him in 2001 and just returned home from there last week. I have to say I noticed a huge improvement in the place. There are new buildings everywhere and a lot of repairs have been completed. It's a strange sight to see an ultra-modern glass and steel office block, next door to a bullet-riddled, cratered ruin. I mentioned this to my mate and his wife, who agreed, but also said that a lot of the new buildings were churches and mosques, with both groups trying to out do each other with the size and grandeur of the buildings. They also said that there's still a great deal of tension remaining between the two sides and that they weren't certain about a peaceful future... Perhaps a bit of "...the art of fighting without fighting" is just whats needed

I've seen "Commandante" and was pretty impressed with the movie and have to say with Castro himself (Nike shoes and all). Whatever your political persuasions, Castro is a fascinating, living, historical figure. It seems like Cuba has achieved some great things inspite of the US embargo. I think I read somewhere that they have a higher literacy rate than the US. !Viva la revolucion!

    War against terror

So guess now that stealing food from a supermarket is now an equal crime to torture murdering innocent people. In case you forgot, Dilawar was a farmer and a taxi driver weighting imposing 59 kilograms. He was hit over 100 times, kicked and all this while he was CHAINED TO A WALL AND HOODED. Bet his 3-year-old daughter is real happy now that the perps got couple of months in low-security slammer and fines in the 200-300 USD range. Ah for fuck sake! America, ask yourself why the world hates you! Even though I don't...

Student pilot. It seems that magic little book of yours is very handy for coming up with bullshit excuses for doing "wrongs", that normal, non religious people don't need other people to tell them is wrong.

    Real life photography/photo editing

Heh cheers mate! Hopefully I'll be able to show yas a few photos later on... @SniperUK02 I spent a day in Derry in 2001, fascinating place, if a little unnerving, with all those watchtowers around. Nice to see that the murals are mainly tourist attractions now, rahter than incitements to violence.

Some sweet pics in here gents! I have a point and shoot digital camera and I've just bought an oldish 35mm camera (Canon EOS 1000 QD) to take on my trip to Europe . I'm intereted in learning a few tricks with appeture, shutter speed and all that stuff, but am a total begginer. Can anyone recommend a good website as an introduction? Cheers!

Didn't Jesus say something about NOT killing people? Isn't that on a list of rules or something? Jesus said "Thou shalt not kill" Pat Robertson says "Let's kill Chavez!" TBA manages to call these comments "inappropriate"

About the only thing communism got right was the banning of religion. If I told everyone that I had an invisable friend who would do things for me if I asked him really nicely, I'd get committed. Unless, of course, I said his name was God/Allah/Yaweh or whatever. You're all mad
