He said "No m'am he's not (an Arab). He's a descent, family man citizen, who I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues." Which implies that an Arab is the opposite. Granted this is a very semantic argument though. Scubaman, lately you seem not to discuss any flaws or faults with the Republicans without flying off the handle, throwing "stupid" and "ignorant" around and misreading people completely. Criticism of the Republicans = "they have no right to exist" ? Â

"No ma'am he's not an Arab". Fuck me! 'Defends' Obama by saying he's not an Arab! As if being an Arab would be the worst thing ever. He didn't even bother to defend Arab Americans or call her out on her racism.
  3. Yet Another Artillery Addon! From the readme Download here Edit: Mirror kindly provided by Armed Assault Info. I spent the entire day stuffing about with higher initspeeds to get the realistic range of 11,400m for M119, but the 25000+ init speed starts to stuff up the scripts (as far as I can tell). I'm releasing this is in the hope that those who know more than me (ie nearly everyone) can use this great tutorial to help produce some high quality, realistic artillery for the community. Regards Chops.

    Incoming!! Y.A.A.A...

Are you using any mods? This was made to work with standard, un-modded Arma. Haven't had any other reports of inaccuracy this bad. Try the demo missions without running any mods, shouldn't be a problem.

We'll she's not running for president, McCain is, who obviously does have more experience, though I'm still not sure which war it was that he won, according to Palin. Comparing Obama (federal senator) and Palin (Governor) seems a moot point, but I'm curious as to how she has "more experience"? Christopher Hitchens, a man who's writing I don't always agree with, but often admire, had some good points to make against Obama To offer my own two cents I'd have to say this election campaign is woeful. Compare it to 1992 Clinton, Bush and Perot debating were at least in heated debate about NAFTA. All that comes out of this current bullshit is personal attacks. Zero on policy from both sides, at a crucial time in US and global history. "He said lipstick on a pig" "You said it first" "You're friends with terrorists" "You're deceitful". This election seems to be the seeking out of a King, who must be of noble and brave of heart, wise and genuine who can be the best American there is.

It is frightening to see her speak. I watched that she did with Katie Couric. It's just jaw-droppingly unfathomable to suggest that this woman is somehow qualified to be VP. Granted Obama is pretty green by Presidential standards, but Jesus titty-fucking Christ, how can anybody seriously think that voting for a single term Governor who seems to think she's in charge of the air defence of Alaska? Couric went very soft on her in that interview, she could've asked so many more questions and exposed Palin for the pretender she is trying to be and failing. She's just plain dumb. I hope they change the rules so foreign-born citizens can run for President, at least that way the Republicans can nominate Schwarzenegger, who is an intellectual giant in comparison to Palin. Looks like she might yet get into some strife about her ordering her former brother-in-law sacked.

Well, we're in heated agreement on that my friend. I'd venture to say there are perhaps a few Americans raised there who fail to understand it too? Has this happened often? The need to overthrow the government by force? Strange to be "exporting democracy" to the Middle East while preparing for a coup at home. @scubaman3D. I gather your a Republican voter? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the current administration. Seriously.

Quote me saying that! Â Your country do what you want with it. I don't care either way. You're just waiting to quote the 2nd amendment or whatever it is. Is this build up anything like the vast arsenal of chemical weapons Iraq had? OK, tell me, or provide some links to any non-crackpot websites where any nation on earth is a viable military threat to the US. Type military spending into Google and get back to me. My point exactly. Even you're own government is viewed as a potential enemy.

Hehehee! Are you serious? Russia or China invading the US in the next ten years? Exactly how are either of these countries going to overtake the US/NATO military in 10 years? Where did I say guns are bad? I didn't. I said fear of an invasion is ridiculous. It's this kind of attitude at a government level that has so damaged the reputation of the US in the wider world. Seeing the world in black and white. Enemies or allies. With us or against us. "John MCain knows how to win a war" Sarah Palin. Which one would that be exactly?

You see this is a big part of what I don't understand about the USA. What are you so scared of?Do you really, honestly think that the most powerful military to ever exist in human history isn't enough to protect you? That an armed citizenry is essential to repelling an invasion? Suggesting that any of those countries, in fact any at all would invade the US is hysterical paranoia. To quote Bill Hicks "I was in Australia and people asked me 'are you proud to be an American?' I don't know, I didn't have much to do with it, my parents fucked there, that's about all". "That's how we can stop patriotism, put pictures of our parents fucking on the flag" Amen

    European Politics Thread.

I was living in Ireland when they voted 'No' to the Nice Treaty. What really made me giggle was that some government minister or official of some kind was, iirc fired, because for some reason, it was his fault that it got voted down. Didn't they just have another vote at the next election anyway? "If you vote no, we'll just keep having elections until you vote they way we want."

-snafu-, I think it's called 'tied aid' what you're talking about there. Japan scores very lowly on that index I linked to because of it. Incidently, they have just helped Eritrea sign up to the International Whaling Commission, having never caught a whale in the existence of that country. There are a number of new countries now in the IWC, mostly third world, who's governments all have new fleets of Toyotas, thanks to uncle Hiroshi. Curiously all these countries seem to vote with Japan. It always strikes me as odd how a lot of US Americans can complain about the bad wrap the US gets, then come out with "We're the best!" in the next breath and not see the link between the two. All the studies of human development, freedom and diversity of the press, % of population in prison, life expectancy, % of doctors, literacy etc etc etc, it seems nearly always Scandinavian countries make up the top three or four. For fuck sake, life expectancy and literacy is higher in shitty Cuba for ethnic Africans, than in the US. The other side of the coin being the simplistic 'fuck the Yanks' attitude that gets around from people who drive Fords, eat McDonalds and love Gangsta rap.

I was paying attention and I did get the jist. She's a simple little fish in a little pond and as I read somewhere, 'looked liked a high school kid trying to bullshit her way through a book report', in the very few interviews she's given on TV. This at a time when she should be grasping every opportunity to put her plans, policies and credentials out there for the public to see. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep the night before the Vice Presidential debate, poor little Palin is going to get mounted (on a wall) like a dead moose. I'd even venture to say Mcain might change his running mate after this. All of this is not to say Obama is the saviour, he's a gobshite without substance. I used to be appalled at the thought of only 50% of US citizens turning out to vote, having paid more attention to this election, I can see why they stay home. Some interesting stats on foreign aid. Netherlands 1st, USA 14th, Japan last in 22nd place.

So... these are the four most qualified people in a nation of 300 million? I'd have thought the last eight years of ineptitude would've scared people away from folksy trinkets like Palin. "Alaska is next to Russia and Canada"...oh dear... I watch ER, so I'm a qualified doctor. It was an interesting strategy of the Republicans to choose her, bad luck for them it seems to have back-fired.

Watching this election from the outside, I'm horrified at the state of the whole process. Granted Australian media only pick up the salacious, sensationalist crap, but even looking around US websites... "Lipstick on a pig" "...Bush doctrine" "hockey Mom...pitbull" "...community organiser" "Sambo beat the bitch" And my personal favourite... "Change you can believe in" WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?? It's almost impossible to find out what any of these idiots plan to do when in office other than "Change stuff". I read an interesting stat once that said 42% of US citizens trust politicians, but 70% trust the president. It seems to me that the US is looking for a King, a Chief, who's personal attributes are more important than any policy or plans. It's as if the President just has to be the best person in America.

When I spent my little bit of time in Germany, I thought the "Nie wieder Deutschland" grafitti I saw was something to do with losing a soccer match or something There seems to be a great deal of reflection in German society about it's past, which is admirable I think. While I imagine there are a few neo nazi throwbacks under the carpet, people in general seem to be educated and aware. It's a very stark contrast to what I've seen in my experience here in Japan. Perhaps a big part of it would be the fact that the Nazis targeted their own citizens in Jews, political opponents, etc aswell as neighbouring countries, whereas there wasn't the same scale of internal attrocities committed in Japan.

While important not to slide too far into generalisations, there are of course certain attributes particular to certain countries. To call the Japanese pacifist is as far off the mark as to call them ALL ignorant. The Japanese constitution was written by the Americans, the pacifist element of it (article 9) is frequently proposed to be scrapped. I have been to Yasukuni shrine and the attached museum. It's interpretation of the Nanking massacre is that it NEVER happened. Imagine a musuem in Germany saying the equivilant? There are thugs linked to organised crimes who demand the disolution of parliament and revert to diret rule by the emperor. They harrass foreign embassies and foreign-language schools and nobody does a thing. Whenever the territorial disputes with Korea flare up, these same clowns protest out the front of parliament, demanding war. While an extremist, lunatic-fringe element doesn't represent the whole society...again imagine the same for a moment in Germany. Meet the ever-popular Govenor of Tokyo, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shintaro_Ishihara No doubt there are national delusions that I as an Australian have fallen into, but "Oh well never mind everybodies ignorant, none of us knows anything" won't get people very far in dealing with this kind of inter-generational strife

In their involvement in operations re Afghanistan, the Japanese navy were supplying US ships with fuel (for free) in that part of the world for a while, on again off again. Got a bit pricey (no shit?) Japan sent 'engineers' into post invasion Iraq. Their role was to set-up some kind of water purification operation. At one point the ADF took over from the Danes or Dutch (I forget) to provide protection for them. Something very Orwellian in that. You read it right my friend.

At least there's a discussion going on. And I think that's always a good sign of a functioning society. I read a saying somewhere, that the sins of the father shall not be visited up on the son. And that was the allies attitude to the post-war Germans and Japanese. Of course there's 'he he forgets history is destined to repeat it." I spent a few years in Japan and was absolutely astounded and revolted by the total ignorance of most people of almost anything to do with Japan's part in WW2. I've spoken to people born in the '40s and '50s who had no idea that Australia was allied with the US and not Japan. Granted Australian involvement was limited by our small population, but still. It's frightening to see how easy they'd go at it again without so much as a whimper. One fella who was letterboxing anti-war leaflets, prior to Japan sending troops to Iraq, spent three months in jail for his outrageous crime.

    Attack on Mccord AFB

Never been to an airshow myself, though I lived in Japan for a few years and went on holiday to Okinawa, where there's both a USAF and USMC airbase. Got the fright of my life when I was relaxing on the beach, nearly asleep, when an AV-8B came tearing across the sky at low-level. I'd try to sign up to the Marines if I could be guaranteed a posting to Okinawa  From the main street in one of the towns, you can see F-15s coming in to land, which was great for me, but I imagine you might get tired of the racket if you lived there.
