Gibbet's Team Level Movement Planner
Caxton Gibbet posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Team Level movement Planner (TLMP) V2.0 16/09/2012 By Caxton Gibbet INTRODUCTION: Team Level, meaning a unit or units within the players group. Movment planner, The ability to place seperate waypoint sets for teams, in real time, within the game map. no module placment required by the mission builder. The system is available to the player in any mission at anytime whilst they are leader of a group with living subordinates. NO Multiplayer support, not designed for online play. Set up co-ordinated flanking attacks or pincer movments quickly and easily. Move teams into position via defined routes. Set up patrols with defined routes. Each waypoint can be of a type. 1.Move:- Move to this position. 2.Wait:- Wait at this position for Player input. 3.Patrol:- final waypoint of a set to create a cycling patrol route. Each waypoint Type can have a speed setting of either Limited, Normal or Full. A behaviour Setting of either Stealth, Danger, Aware or Safe. A Rules Of Engagment (ROE) setting of either Fire At Will (Free), Defend or Never Fire. There is no waypoint limit and no team\unit limit.Have as many teams as men available and as many waypoints as your plans require. Each set of waypoints is coloured in acordance with the games team assignment system, Set one are red,set two are green and so on.If you create a sixth set of waypoints the sequance begins again, set six are red,set seven are green, set eight are blue...you get the picture. A placed waypoint defaults as:- MOVE, NORMAL, AWARE, FiRE AT WILL. Changes to TYPE are reset every time, back to 'MOVE'. Changes to ROE are reset every time, back to 'FREE'. Changes to SPEED are NOT reset. Changes to BEHAVIOUR are NOT reset. Waypoint orders are executed while traveling TOWARDS the waypoint. For example, if waypoint 1 has speed walk and waypoint 2 has speed run and waypoint 3 has speed walk, then the units will walk to waypoint 1 then run to waypoint 2 then walk to waypoint 3. The orders applied to a 'wait' waypoint are the orders the units will wait under, following waypoint orders apply once the move on order is given by the player. For example if a 'wait' waypoint has a 'never fire' order then the units will wait with a 'never fire' order. Pathfinding to each waypoint is controlled by the Ai.The greater the gap between waypoints the less control you have over the route taken. Units within a team may take different routes around smaller buildings and clutter. Wait waypoints are useful for co-ordinating attacks. They are also useful for conducting tasks within a plan. For example, placing a satchel, or any other actions available via the commanding system. Once the task is complete just move the plan along. 'Never Fire' order means just that.Unlike the hold fire order available in the command system units will not fire even if threatened. This order sets combatmode to 'BLUE'. A waypoint with a 'never fire' order will have an ! attached to it. Once a plan is set it cannot be added to or altered, only cancelled. Finish all the planning before you exit the map as exiting the map finalizes the plan. A plan must be executed before it can be cancelled. You may or maynot have noticed the lack of any formation setting for the waypoints. Unfortunatly I can't find a way to assign a differnt formation at a team level, group formation applys. A quick word on the UI that is used in the map screen, its ugly plain and simple. It does, however, fuction just as I want it to and so prettying it up is a low priority for me, not least because its somthing i'd need to spend more time learning how to do. If you are someone who is adept at this sort of thing and would like to donate a better UI You would have my thanks, and a credit of course. There is no real vehicle support at the moment, although, vehicles placed already manned may function to some degree or may just go to the first waypoint and stop. Feedback is greatly appreciated,as are bug reports ofcourse. DOWNLOAD: MediaFire REQUIREMENTS: You will need the latest version of CBA ('extended_init_eventhandlers') find it here: Armaholic.com SETTING UP A KEY: The system requires you have one available key for mapping in the game options. Do you have ambient occlusion enabled in your nvidia settings? Having ambient occlusion enabled for Arma can cause this sort of problem. Hope that helps. -

There is a small error related to the in game instructions, that is, they fade out after a short time. This is fixed for the next update. Also, I'm looking at how to handle planning across multipule Groups via any team switching within a mission. Its not supported currently, but may fuction to some degree,or just freak out completley. @CuDa Thank you for your kind words and support. In answear to your questions: Basic Vehicle support has been introduced for the next update, however, it is limited at this stage. I am planning to add a stance option but this will also require an update to the 'Copy My Stance' addon to prevent conflicts. @Everyone.... I need some feed back in relation to vehicle usage. As it stands you can pretty much take control of any surface vehicle you can get a unit into,be it manned or unmanned, have waypoints or not.(Aircraft untested!) If it has waypoints any plan you create will overide those editor placed waypoints. Its easy to see how this could possibly cause problems in some missions by giving the player control over assets the mission designer never intended they have control of, or, breaking the mission by overideing editor placed waypoint sets. Any vehicles setup as locked should be fine. So here is my dilema, should I restrict access to the system from vehicles that meet a certain criteria, eg. vehicle has waypoints,or,vehicle is already manned by units other than the players group. Or, should I just leave it upto the player. Your feed back is appreciated. -

@MrCash Sorry,my bad, I think I forgot to mention that to turn on the help text hold down the assigned key until you see the conformation, whilst outside the map screen. Now when you're inside the map screen the help text will display. When the units have deselected the system is waiting for your map clicks to place the waypoints. This has to happen as you cannot input data via map clicks while units are selected. Hope that helps you. Will check back in 2-3 hours (RL calls). -

Copy My Stance V 4.1 By Caxton Gibbet Fixed: Left side Command menu will now close after a Stance order has been given.Minor fix for the keypress version only. DOWNLOAD. ********* MediaFire Armaholic armedassault.info Old Version Description. ************ This addon will make a players AI team copy the players stance. It would seem that the "Keep Low" command is not entirely a "copy my stance" order as indicated by the vocal command sometimes associated with a "Keep Low" order in game. In fact when a 'keep low' order is issued to a unit parseing the 'Unitpos unit' command on that unit returns the value "AUTO". AI units will copy a prone or standing stance.I wanted them to also copy a crouch stance. This addon may be rendered obsolete by future game patches. The scripts Detect Changes in the player's stance and issue updated stance rules to the players group.Any unit in the players group that is under stance rule "AUTO", 'Keep Low' in menu 7,will act on these rule changes.Any unit that has been given any other stance rule via menu 7 will retain those rules over those issued by the scripts. To have those units return to the system, you need to issue them a "keep Low" order in menu 7. New to this version of the addon is the key press control system. As before the system is ON on ALL the players team at start up if the player is team leader. You now have the ability to switch the system on and off on individuals or groups of your team with a key press. To switch the system OFF for a team member or members simply select them and press your assigned "copy stance OFF" key. To switch the system ON for a team member or members simply select them and press your assigned "copy stance ON" key. To have a team member or members remain in their current stance select them and press your assigned "Hold stance" key. The first selected unit will confirm the command on behalf of all selected units. The System sleeps while the player is in a vehicle or is not team leader or has no team members. *REMEMBER,"MENU 7" STANCE ORDERS ALWAYS TAKE PRIORITY.* *A "MENU 7","KEEP LOW" ORDER WILL RETURN THE UNIT TO THE SYSTEM.* SETTING UP KEYS. **************** 1.Start the game. 2.Goto "OPTIONS". 3.Goto "CONTROLS". 4.The System watches for Input on 3 keys. You will need 3 keys to Assign to the addon in the next steps.these keys should be unused. 5.(OPTIONAL):Assign all three keys to "TURBO",about half way down in "ALL CONTROLS", just before "Vehicle Turbo". WHY? well,if you don't do this you may find that the keys don't function properly when you are prone. Also, custom key presses maynot be registered while other keys are being pressed, (eg."Move forward"). WHY? I've not a clue! but this is away round both issues.Simply moving your gun around while holding down the key also solves the Prone issue. Caution: these three keys should not be used for TURBO while playing.Use your regular key or assign another. 6.Set the key filter to "CUSTOM CONTROLS". 7.Scroll to the very bottom. 8.Assign your three keys: Key for "Copy Stance ON" is "Use Action 18" Key for "Copy Stance OFF" is "Use Action 19" Key for "HOLD Stance" is "Use Action 20" All Done. Let me say straight off, I'm not gonna make CMS a MP addon, I don't have the know how,and I definetley don't have the time to spend learning how, not for a while anyway, sorry Krem. That said, if you or someone else are able to do this you should feel free to do so. all I ask is that you or whoever:- A. Release it under a unique name, (I don't require credits or any of that stuff). B. Remove the GIB_ prefix from all the variables within the scripts, the script names and Pbo etc. If you're not able to do it yourself maybe ask around,I'm quite sure it would be a quick job for one of the many accomplished modders on these forumns. The best I can do at this point is just reiterate that I've never had any problem with anyone taking this addon and improving it so long as they abide by Points A and B above. If anyone does decide to take it on then feel free to PM me if you have any questions related to the scripts I've ALREADY written. -

So I've been looking into the multiple action menu additions, thing is, I'm having trouble replicating the issue. Could someone give me an example of a situation/mission where this issue is appearing? What action menu version are you using? Is it from the 4.1 zip file, ie. Are you using actionmenu version 4.0? Also, on a sidenote, when did Bis change the wording for the "keep Low" command to "Copy my Stance"? Makes the addons 'readme' a little confusing:confused: :) @Kremator Regarding the stutter you are seeing, Ive had a few goes of the boot camp steerable parachute mission and cannot see any stutter. Are you using an addon stearable parachute? if so can you provide a link. In answear to your question, the scripts make use of the "waitUntil" function which, I'm pretty sure, IS checked every frame, this is just how that function works. Further, the system will be running at its bare minimum whenever you are in a vehicle,i.e. once you are in a vehicle the main scripts exit and a small script is simply watching for when you exit the vehicle, at which point it will reinitiate the main scripts. (assuming you are team leader ofcourse and still have aleast one living team mate).I'd be suprised if that Script is causing the game to struggle in any respect atall, that said, I ain't no scripting guru, so I could be wrong. I guess all I can say with confidence is that its not an issue ive ever come across myself over many hours of playing nor has such an issue been reported before. -

Hello guys, been a long time since I've seen any activity in this tread!:) @Anthropoid Do the aforementioned units begin on the players team or do you take command\Recruit them at some point during the mission? If the later is the case then you need to pass a stance order to your new recruits in order for them to be included in the system.Only units that START the mission on the players team are automaticly enrolled into the system, all recruits must recive a stance order via the system in order to have the required variable attached to them. Are you using any replacer mods for these type of units? Some custom units will not work with the system due to their configs, this is an issue beyond my control. @Orcinus The menu issue is a problem with MY script and, as far as I'm aware, not the product of any conflict with another mod or script. Thanks for promoting the Keypress version as an alternative to our friend Krem but I suspect its alost cause as krem is one of my earliest supporters and if he hasn't switched over by now I doubt he ever will. @Kremator Hi budd, hope you're well! Sorry there was never a fix for that menu issue, I kinda lost heart with the action menu version after I couldn't solve the armoury issue it created. If I get some time this weekend I'll have a quick look at fixing that issue, for you and the other pains in the arse who don't want to use the Keypress version.;) Either way,all joking aside, thankyou for your continued support for my little mod. You, and a couple of others, are the reason I didn't just ditch this when things got tricky in the first few versions. -

hi tod Do you have CBA installed? http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6231 You should find your subordinates are already set to copy your stance, the mod defaults to on. Try selecting some, or all ,of your units and press one of your assigned keys, this should produce a radio text message confirming the associated stance order was received. -

Hi tod First I should make it clear that the Action menu version is buggy and breaks a section of the game,The Keypress version is recommended. Ok, that said..First thing to say is, the action menu is the left side menu that appears when you roll your mouse wheel. The addition to the game start properties in the short cut needs to MATCH the name of the folder you have introduced to the game, ie. if the folder is named @GIB_Copy_Stance then @GIB_Copy_Stance must be added to the game start properties, @GIB is not enough. The @GIB_Copy_Stance folder should contain a folder named Addons into which the GIB_Copy_Stance.Pbo file should be placed. Thats about all I can come up with from the info you posted. Please consider using the keypress version. In any event please post back if you continue to have problems. -

@Froggyluv You're welcome, I'm glad we got you sorted. With regard to the whole 'keep low' command,to be honest,I'm not quite sure what BIS's intention is.I can't ever recall crouch being used by the Ai when given that order in Arma or OFP.Then ofcourse there is the fact that giving that order to an Ai unit sets their stance to 'AUTO'. This is effectivly giving the Ai control of its own stance which, I assume, it decides upon after taking into account its current combat mode. @Kremator Hi mate,I wasn't aware of that issue, I don't use the action menu version anymore. I ditched that version because it broke the armoury mode.I only included it in the download because some people prefer it and didn't seem bothered that its buggy. It's not realy my intention to continue to support that version as the keypress version is far better. I can only recommend that you switch to the keypress version. Sorry mate, but as I can't fix the armoury issue with that version I see little point in continuing with it. If you have any issues with using the keypress version please let me know and I'll see what I can do to address them. -

@froggyluv You need to use one of your assigned keys to bring the new units under the control of the system. from the read me: Once these keys are assigned select the units that have joined your group,or select the whole group, and use the key you assigned as "Copy Stance ON" to order them to copy your stance. The 7,9 keys will only return a unit to the systems control if they have already had the system activated on them via the method listed above. Units in the same group as the player will be under the control of the system as soon as it detects the player is, or has become, group leader.Units joining a group of which the player is already leader need to be added to the system using a keypress as detailed above. hope that helps. -

@mrcash, Thats great mate, thanks for the heads up. @froggyLuv Thanks for the kind words,I'm glad you find it useful. With regard to units joining your group or you becoming leader of your group,In the case of the later,Your new subordinates should copy your current stance and continue to do so without any input from you. However, units that join your group later require a copy stance order. This is to set a variable on each new unit which the system updates and monitors in order to set the correct 'stance rules' to each unit individualy. This Variable is only applied automaticly when the system detects that the player is, or has become, a group leader,it is then applied to all the players current subordinates. Units joining the players group when the player is already leader have to have this variable applied via a stance order,be it either a copy my stance ,hold Stance or stance free, any will do. I just did a few simple tests in the editor and all seems fine. Are you using the action menu version or the keypress version? -

Hi Carl, First, thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you find the addon useful. Regarding the Keypress version. You need to select the team member or members you want to effect. So,for example, too issue a 'hold stance' order to just units 2 and 5,first, select both units via the F-keys then press your assigned 'Hold Stance' key. As for your issue with the Action Menu version,I don't know what to tell you realy.Just tested it in my game and its working fine. There is a Known issue with regard to it failing to run on one or maybe two community made troop addons. Hi Victim913, Not sure how much this addon has to do with what you've been seeing, the code is very simple and only affects the stance,no move orders or anything remotly todo with altering the AI. Either way, I'm glad you find using it adds to your enjoyment of the game. -

To have A unit with, for example,a 'stay crouched' order begin to copy the player's stance simply give it a 'Keep Low' order and ensure 'copy my stance' is switched on in the action menu, the system switched ON is indicated by the 'Copy stance off' option appearing in the action menu. The system OFF is indicated by the 'Copy My Stance' option appearing in the Action menu.If either of those options are not available its because you're not the group leader. ANYTIME the system is deactivated the rule "AUTO" is given to the team as it is the default order of all units that haven't recived other rules via menu 7 or as a 'SetUnitPos' command by the mission maker. ANYTIME the system is deactivated automaticaly, for example,if you change from being team leader to not. When it is re-activated by,for example, you becoming team leader again it will always be in the mode it was deactivated in.ie On or Off. If you enter a vehicle the system is shut down and the stance rule "AUTO" is parsed to your team. This is because the action menu options to control the system are not available whilst you are in a vehicle.Once you exit the vehicle the system will re-start in the last mode it was in.ie if switched off when you mount a vehicle it will be switched off when you dismount.Once you dismount the vehicle the action menu options will be available again,Provided of course that you are still team leader. *NOTE Any rules applied in the editor via 'setunitpos' on the Players team will be over ridden by the Addon at startup as the default setting for the addon is Switched on IF YOU BEGIN AS TEAM LEADER. While testing with different troop addons I found that it would only initiate on SOME units from bb_mercs by SchnapsdroSel-(V.4.0).Also it will not initiate on Binkowski's genreic US special forces-(V.1.0). I came up with a workaround for this,At the moment as long as there is another unit in the mission on which the addon does initiate,(eg. ANY vanilla units, including mounted Crew and pilots),then the addon will initiate on the players Unit.Beaware that if the only working units are to be spawned by,for example, the civillian module then the addon will not initiate until the first civillian\unit is spawned. If the above fix is not of use then simply parse: nul = [] execVM "GIB_Copy_Stance\GIB_Copy_Stance_START.sqf"; somwhere in your mission. I would suspect that this is not MP compatible, but I haven't tested it. There is no Bisign file simply because I haven't a clue how to create one and this is unlikely to work in multiplayer anyway.

Gibbet's Copy My Stance Version 4.0
Caxton Gibbet replied to Caxton Gibbet's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thanks for the replies everyone.I'm glad you find this useful. I could still use some feedback about OA and CO compatability. @mrCash2009 At the moment there is no system within the addon for storing who is in what stance\mode.Such a system would have to be introduced to make a quick "un-Hold" key work. This may be introduced later. As it stands you can either, order them to copy your stance, or return stance control to the AI (CopyStance OFF) or use menu 7. The idea behind "hold stance" is to allow the player to issue specific stance orders without using menu 7. @Foxhound You're very welcome.thanks for the mirrior.
