  1. OldGeezer. Thanks for misunderstanding, and getting it totally wrong.. Duh.

The 'crying' in speech marks was a quote that someone else used.. I dont think either side is 'Crying' - it was a rather childish riposte used against someone in this thread and I was actually getting at the person that used it.

Personally, I think everyone has a right to say what the hell he or she wants - and have said so in various threads.

Some people avoid discussing well made points (as they cant dispute them) responding with "stop crying", "Dont like it, dont play it", etc etc. This is just a playground cop out. tounge2.gif

    Hope you feel suitably silly...

  2. Do you have 2 Graphics cards in your system - maybe one on the Motherboard? Have you tried disabling the OnBoard graphics in the BIOS?

Also disable any LPT, COM and Firewire ports you arent using in the BIOS (frees some system resources) and anything else you find you dont need.

Onboard sound as well as your soundcard? Disable it in the BIOS.

  3. I had 1.02 and now have 1.04.

AI pathfinding, to me, looks better than before.

I can actually send my AI across bridges and most of the time they get across (5 out of 6 attempts). The one time it didnt make it was when I started a couple of hundred meters from the bridge. The ai clipped the bridge and went underneath it. After some messing around under the bridge, the AI finally got it up the other side (well it would have if the slope wasnt so steep).

Missions arent ending properly though. In the armoured single player mission it STILL wont complete - even though I cant see any 'live' enemy tanks, men etc.

Does anyone know a way to force completion on single missions - I know there is a key combination you can use in the campaign, but it doesnt work with single missions. banghead.gif

I'll add more info as I play it.

  4. So you tilt your head and keep your eyes on the screen... I would probably end up with not much more than sore eyes, a sore neck and a dent in my bank balance.

I would consider one if I spent any time playing flight sims... but I don't.. wink_o.gif

  5. Potatomasher..

I had the German download version and found I wasnt playing it due to bugs..

I emailed the publisher asking politely for a refund.. I got the refund a couple of days ago (about a week after I requested it).

Just return the game and wait for the UK release..

Thats what Im waitin for now... smile_o.gif

  6. Yep, Vista has been engineered from the ground up to extort money from you...

How much more (maybe apart from DX10) do you actually need. Operating systems should not take up so much space on your hard drive or cause everything to run sooo slooooooowly.

Stickin with XP for the forseeable future.

  7. Benreaper..

Why do you assume Luciano is trying to change anyone's opinions??

I would hazard a guess that these complaints (that are posted over and over) would be stopped immediately if BIS actually gave regular (weekly at least) updates to customers. This isn't a free 'mod' - they really should know better.

  8. Um guys.. These are discussion forums!! crazy_o.gif

If someone has something negative OR positive to say about the game, they have every right to post it here.

'Dont like it, Dont play it' replies dont cut it for games that people have paid their hard earned cash to own. They are posting their grievances and have every right to do so.

  9. Have too many subdivisions and you might end up only releasing a Demo by the time OFP2 comes out..

You should have a 'who bothers to view the cutscenes between missions' vote. Don't waste time with them and you'll release far earlier. I would just have some nice juicy information about each mission in a couple of pages of text..

    Ivnation 44 anyone? sad_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]I'll probably buy another copy when the US version is released, and use my current to run a dedicate server off of.

You dont need to use a licence to run a dedicated server - the server .exe doesnt require a CD either...

Get one of your German or Czech pals round to play.. wink_o.gif

  11. I had an ATI 9800 Pro and performance wasnt that great. Playable, but just.

I bought an ATI x1950 for about 130 quid. It made all the difference - AA runs great now! At the time it was the best card for the money (Wanted an 8800 but there wasnt any in stock - and they are 2-3 times the price). smile_o.gif

The demo isnt that great an indicator, as its a cut down island and runs better than the full version anyway.

  12. Quote[/b] ]would seem strange that the european release has all the content of the 1.05 patch and not the actual code tho? Its meant as 'exclusive' content, so perhaps this two weeks is the exclusive stage. The press release says the cz and german patch, so obviously the UK/ROW release is 1.05

That's the other option, however, I'm not getting my hopes up. wink_o.gif

It depends on whether they are listing new content that will exist in 1.04 (the possible 505 release). Of course, 1.02 owners will have to go straight to 1.05 so it would all be new content to them! The differences between 1.04 and 1.05 'could' be negligible.

If 505 is a 1.05 release, I would like to hear why BIS are keeping the patch back until the end of the month?

Surely 505's 1.05 game would be ready and CD's would have been duplicated for a release in one week? Surely a patch would have been developed in parallel (and given to Morphicon et al) for release on the 16th???!

We probably wont hear much about it before then and none of us know, so we'll have to wait and see. wink_o.gif

Anyway...I've returned my German version and I'm just waiting for the 505 release.. 1.04 min' and no more language patching.. Ahhhhh. biggrin_o.gif

  13. Well, I returned my German download version for a refund.

I hadn't played it after the first week - due to the annoying bugs - so I thought I had a right to do so.

I wasnt getting any benefit buying it early, so I thought I would return it and wait for the UK version - saves having to patch it too. smile_o.gif

When the UK version is released, I will see what the general opinion of the game is, and if good I'll buy it.

If things don't look promising I will probably go back to OFP. huh.gif

  14. I would think that the game would only use a small amount of available bandwidth to upload missions to new users.

If it uploaded at the maximum rate, it would be Lag-City for all currently playing users. I think this was similar in OFP and im sure a lot of other games.

I mean, I have an 8meg line and missions (or maps in other games for example) do not download at anywhere near that speed (Assume I am the client).

How is the connection speed when the user has the map?

    #C

  15. Quote[/b] ]Also, I have 2 other computers connected to the router. When they are both connected to the server, will the server take away from the internet speed and cause me to lag?

Depends on the number of players connected to the server - and what the other computers are uploading/downloading.

Though.. Yeah, it probably will lag - unless you have a decent router that can prioritise traffic).

Of course, if you have a 100Meg line, you can do whatever the hell you want! wink_o.gif

  16. You divide by 8... not 10.

    So its 250Kbyte/sec DOWN

    and

    28Kbyte/Sec UP smile_o.gif

Note that your up bandwidth will be split between the number of users (plus a small amount for any services or programs are trying to contact the internet).

The delay could also be due to the other players machine spec.. Before I upgraded my Gfx card, it took longer to load missions. So that is a factor.

There is more for each client to download than just the mission (info about other players, game state etc).

    #C

ps.. ISP = Internet Service Provider. Your ADSL provider.

  17. Rather than download and install the Demo (850 meg), I will probably just wait until the UK release so I can get the full manual.

I doubt that there would be a problem if you have a licenced copy (which I do - though in German).

  18. Wont be touching Vista with a very long Barge-Pole for as long as I possibly can.

OS's in my opinion should be slicker, quicker, leaner and run games faster with each new implementation - and I dont think it's happening.

We are just given a load of extra features that we dont need, they slow our machines down and we pay for the nose for them. DX10 is the only thing I could want it for; although I am in no rush whatsoever. whistle.gif
