Thats the problem with cheap upgrades for games that have a high hardware requirement. They're generally a waste of time! I replaced my old ATI 9800 with a x1950 - An absolute bargain at 120 pounds. It's more than two times the speed of the 1650. Too late to return your 1650, I assume? #C

Does it appear on the in game server browser as v1.05? Does the server require clients have certain mod's active before it will let you join? #C

I think that 1.05 Beta is much better than 1.05. It corrects a whole lot of bugs.. I don't think my version has actually crashed since before 1.02. Who the hell cares whether it's called a Beta?? We've effectively been Beta testing since 1.0!! HAHAHahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahaha. For everyone that complain about crashes etc and are running Vista... Hint.. Vista sucks. Install XP and wait as long as you can before upgrading (Funnily enough, you are Beta testing it for M$.) Yeah, it looks nice, If you really want it, dual boot your PC with XP - Please dont put games on Vista (yet) and wonder why you have problems. #C

Correct me if I'm wrong (Im not a tank junkie like some here) but I don't think ricochets are modelled in ArmA (for tank ammo anyway) . You can hit a tank anywhere, at any angle, and it will damage the tank as if it was hit perpendicularly to the armour (ie. Full on). Simply put, sloped armour has no value in ArmA. There should be some chance of a HEAT or Sabot round bouncing off the sloped armour or doing vastly less damage (rather than full force hit every time). #Cakes ps.. If it's been said before, I havent seen it.

My mistake. Seems my earlier test of this hasnt stood up to further scrutiny. AI still has a nightmare getting out of boats and off the beach area. They still swim in circles around the boat (or drop off point if you move the boat). They refuse to follow orders (Go to wherever) even if its a straight line. When on the beaching area, they get to a certain point (be it a change in incline - in this case, less steep) and decide they cant cross over it. They do an about turn and head for a swim. Oh well.. #C

Nice one! You go away for a couple of days and get this nice surprise.. AI can now board boats without doing the breaststroke (in circles) for a few minutes beforehand (and losing their weapons). AI can even get off boats without swimming (and again losing their weapons). Even better.. Ai no longer lie down near the boat when you disembark and refuse to follow you.. Nice one.. Getting much better! #C

Its not that its out of my budget, its just that I really dont think the TrackIR system is worth 180 euros.. I have no problems going out to buy a new processor, new memory and/or a good Gfx card - but spending 180 E on something I will only use 'occasionally' is (in my view) CrAzY. In ArmA, I would probably only use it when flying.. And thats not that much of my total time. Bring on the alternatives! #C

I was thinking of heading down to Maplin to buy a cheap LED Light for this purpose - then fixing it to the brim of an old cap.. I was wondering if anyone knew whether there were any you could run using a couple of AA type batteries - or do I need more power? I tried the 'white square' option for tracking and it wasnt too bad - however, using a LED light should be more than acceptable. Thanks for the info. #C

You can obviously vouch for the trustworthiness and professionalism of Admins on YOUR server, but what about other less reputable Admins that also contribute to the global ban list. You simply have no idea whether you can trust the Global list and you could be banning players for no reason - other than they maybe accidentally shot an Admin that was in a bad mood and kicked the player before they had a chance to apologize. My last two cents.. I admin a small server too, but I if I was to want extra ban lists, I would only be asking 1 or 2 Admins from clans/servers that I could trust. I will not be using a Global ban list. All I ask is that you are extremely careful in implementing it - if it's here to stay. #C

I think its a terrible idea to have a 'Global' ban list. Its up to the server Admins to ban whoever they want from their own server. This system is far too open to abuse by dodgy Admins - and of course 'human error'.. Please can this idea.. Password servers if you must (Like 6th sense for example) and keep your own ban list. #C

I was forced into Steam.. It was the only way I was able to play my Valve games online. It used to be a major pain in the ass though it is a lot better than it was.. However, the main thing I hate about it is that since I have registered a number of games to my account, I cannot sell or transfer these games to anyone elses account. I consider the games to be mine (Im not 'leasing' them from Valve) so I 'should' be able to do whatever I want with them. Hard copies all the way. Though I think a control system like Valves (for anti cheat and getting rid of asshats) would be good. #C

Its not there yet, but it will be soon.. When the CW mod is released (hopefully as well as good old Everon) I'll be much happier.. Oh, and CTI (Preferably Cleanrock's) THEN I'll be able to compare it properly! Hey, you can get it online for 21 quid.. Not that expensive at all for a new game! #C

How does one "Vet" a server? Who decides which servers get 'Authorised'? I have seen a couple of Admins on Dedicated servers from very well known OFP clans behave (as mentioned) disgracefully. I would think (with this particular clan in mind) that they would be authorised to add to this list... Personally, I do NOT think this list should be shared at all unless you know the Admin really well that you are taking the ban list from (or giving it to) - and can vouch for their common sense and honesty. Not that easy to do with an open ban-list on the 'Net! If the offense happened on the server itself, they would have a cast iron reason to ban someone - which they could do for months at a time. #C

People should be able to complain about Admins too.. I have seen some disgraceful behaviour by Admins - Kicking someone because they had the audacity to kill the Admin (fairly), kicking because someone disagreed with what the Admin said etc etc. There are a lot of mini Hitlers around when it comes to server Administration, so please be careful how this list is produced! #C

Just noticed how many people are scanning the forums at the moment (150 plus).. I would say that we're all hoping the patch is released tonight?? Fingers crossed! My query is - has anyone got a changelog for 1.05. ANYONE. If the patch is out in the next day or two, there must be a changelog ready for it! Someone must have a copy..Someone! Throw us a bone please - you'll get a lot of #C (Oh. If you cant do that, please post the patch instead)

Since BIS and the creators of TrackIR are very close, I doubt we will see anything like we were used to in OFP. I dont see why BIS couldnt keep those that want to spend a fortune on Tir (and a Joystick etc) AND the guys that want to use a keyboard and mouse happy (with a joypad or joystick thrown in for good measure)..... Well, I can see why.. Shhhh. Im happy enough with Infantry movement, however, choppers are a bit of a pain.. #C

New content exclusivity just for the countries they are releasing in surely? I dont see any reason why BIS couldnt have released a 1.04 patch for their German and Czech customers. It wouldnt hurt 505's sales as they aren't releasing there and would have been a big 'Thank you' to their early beta testers/customers. #C

I run CCleaner occasionally (aka CrapCleaner). Its freeware and doesnt have any spyware (that I know about). It cleans old unused registry entries etc.. Google it and see what you think - though be careful what you choose to delete when you're running it. #C

I meant both cores at the same time "in Armed Assault" (unlike AMD x2's which use only 1 core "In Armed Assault").... Not as part of the operating system. Im knackered and I dont think readin that's gonna help! #C

Maybe its because with AMD dual cores, they are aware of the problems when trying to use both cores (at the same time) and so they only use one core for ArmA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the Intel Core2's uses both cores at the same time. Maybe this is the source of the 'lag'. I remember reading about similar (though obviously more pronounced) problems with Dual "Socket" systems when hosting an OFP Server. Bit vague, I know, but it comes to mind! If it is correct, can the chip be told to use only one of its cores when running ArmA? I'd like to find the answer to this as I know some people that are considering a Core2 over an AMD sometime soon.. (I have an AMD x2 4200 at present and it runs great). #C

Looks like the Biki is 1.02 specific.. Doesn't look like they are keeping it up to date considering 1.04 has been released and 1.05 is probably 99% finished. Needs an update, methinks - or you're wasting your time using the Bugs list. #C
