Wow that looks so cool, I like the idea of combining a military sim with Science Fiction. -

I am really interested in playing this as well but I am pst time. Will the server still be up for PST people or too far away for ping? I don't get back from work until 2100PST -
understandeablish* It's been alot of fun so far....can't wait until Beta but yea better that Alpha is catching this stuff =D
-
I tried PR briefly and found that it was way to constricting, too many rules, locked vehicles etc... Unless they changed all that I am really not surprised people were turned off by it IMO....
-
Just curious how many degrees of freedom are in Arma2 and what it will be for Arma3....
-
Does anybody know how many DoF A3 will have?
cpl_hicks replied to cpl_hicks's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I only brought this up because I read that Rfactor has 15 degrees of freedom for cars. I know its apples and oranges but I was just wondering in terms of land vehicles will there be a difference in dof from arma2 to 3. -
For instance carriers this time around? Just curious have not heard anything on that.....

That sounds awesome Kyle, glad your working on this stuff!! Hopefully this stuff is a priority for BI rather than hands moving with steering wheels and get in get out animations for example....:D
-
If BI released the MLOD's for ships, modders could potentially make larger movable ships?
-
It is their game of course so we have to be respectful, but I am just trying to figure out the logic behind it.
-
To be fair I am sure they have their reasons, but just out of curiousity I would like to know why..........
-
Well I am hoping they do give permission to use the LHDs p3ds!!!!!
-
They did an amazing job with the Nimitz don't get me wrong!!
-
Not really, the Nimitz mod is stationary and I am sure if they could they would have a drive and stop option to where when in motion you can not walk around but when it stops you can......... To my knowledge that is not possible due to an intentional limitation to the engine..... If I am wrong then I do not understand why the Nimitz mod or something comparable would at least try it...
-
Perhaps a work around could be while the ship is moving you have to be in a seat or mounted to a gun but then when the ship is stopped you can move around just like it is currently....... I would be happy with that compromise if it could even be an option.....:D
-
Yea, but I doubt you can walk on said ship and are they going to be that big and move that well? I thought the game limits it on purpose....
-
I hope they at least make it possible for modders to create large moving ships I wont mind if they do not make it a feature but at least allow the modders the freedom to play with it......
-
No point in this if Arma3 maintains no large moving ships :(

An easy to use AAR would be nice for multiple reasons. 1. Be able to make better movies of an online battle. 2. Review tactics 3. profit -
I am sure the community would make some interesting uses out of it, I just hope that engine gives them the option or ability to do this. As of yet this has not really been available before......
-
I think thats a whole seperate matter, I dont think walking on moving vehicles we be allowed in arma 3.
-
This is true however there are certain things we do in this simulator that are not realistic but we love having the option to do anyways such as being a pilot getting shot down and continuing the fight on foot or stealing a tank which would pretty much never happen in real life but its fun in a sim......
-
Well call me greedy what I ultimately want to see some kind of Galactica like or user designed star ship hovering over an island and being able to land and takeoff from it and pilot it.........:D
-
I see so basically he did that in order to work around a limitation that they (BIS) most likely left in on purpose. Is it reasonable to assume size limitations on large moving vehicles are in place not based on technical issues but instead so that people cannot create whole new games out of mods thus possibly biting into future revenue that BIS can create with new games? If so I understand the justification in that but there must be a way we can have both.....hmmm I hope BIS can make it happen!
