    Hello, I like how there is only 1st person for inf but to why not vehicles? The other day when in a town where I was fighting a tank and I was on foot with rockets I realized it was almost pointless and game breaking. Here I was trying to put up a fight when all that guy had to do is go into 3rd person or worse yet command view and cheat to find out exactly where I was at and of course he was gonna use it and now I find my self having to use when I am in a Vic now! My opinion is no 3rd person on anything ever otherwise its unrealistic, unimmersive, allows cheating, and essentially eliminates the use of mechanized infantry to help protect vics.... Thoughts?

    Thanks Spanish, my experience on the server is great, one of if not the best map I have ever played on multi IMO. No lag on my end I don't know what people are talking about, and I think night sucks anyways because your just forced to use NV anyways and just turns the game into greenland thru a coffee can for everyone but that's just my opinion. As far as people bitching about giving credit I am kind of mixed, seems like you were pretty reasonable. I doubt anyone thinks your up to no good or have bad intentions.. Seems to me no matter what you do there's always people that will find a way to bitch about something somehow somewhere.. Bottom line is all your trying to do is promote a great mission/style of play so yes give credit but people don't need to get all douchey and up tight about it...

    Look for doomsday_night on steam WS, seems pretty good but you need the 5 mods running, I got them using pws.

    My point was more referring to his suggestions on what Bi can do to make the heli characteristics more realistic without a complete overhaul of the engine/game. Were his suggestions made in the video not in the interest of making it more realistic? My impression is his recommendations are meant to be realistic possibilities of fixing certain aspects of it to help add realism without taking years and years and not a full comprehensive way to make it a true simulator which would be an unrealistic expectation within a reasonable time frame.

    IMO at the very least this should not be released until all advise from this video is implemented to the best of their ability at least as a work in progress.... (Impressions on Arma 3's WIP Advanced Flight Model by Dyslecxi... He understands the value of keeping this game as much a sim as possible...

If I understand this thread correctly being that there are issues with A3, the answer is BI is the only developer attempting this type of product and as a result of such an ambitious undertaking there are going to inevitably be bugs and flaws. If they waited until it was polished and perfect until releasing it would never get released. Show me another sim/game released that does everything this does or is even close and I would already be playing it myself. So unless you got a better idea I suggest closing thread...

    I would be curious to see an experiment where we take a list of servers that have a fair amount of mods running and see which methods work the smoothest. The 3 options are pws, armasync, and bislauncher (cant think of a better abbreviation). We are lucky to have all these options and I am thankful for the hard work people have put on these but I really feel we need more of a consensus or convention that servers and users can use that consistently works. As a side note, one reason why ACE made Arma2 so great was it kind of made a standard or convention out of a group of mods that alot of servers ran in a uniform way.

    Have we confirmed that it would not be detrimental to have the game running on a different drive than the mods are being pulled from...or how does that factor in if at all?
  16. As an update or DLC I would like to see a camera man with hand held camera and tripod kit which could also include a camera drone. This could also be used as a way to make movies/videos in multiplayer sessions.

    Just to add my quick 2 cents in I think they are doing a great job but my only general criticism is I wish they would really stop pussy footing and commit to making it a hardcore simulation. If you want to make it more accessible imo the best way to address it is by having a game mode and a simulation mode. Lets face it most of us choose Arma for its realism if not we would play the tons of other fps out there. Dedicate more to hardcore simulation and by that I don't mean fatique, eating food, defecating...etc I would say vehicle characteristics, ballistics, and physics etc..

    Seems like this whole mod issue in general is obviously very daunting and currently in a state of uncertainty. Unless there is something I am unaware of I think the mod workshop/arma launcher is currently just adding another way to confuse users by adding yet another way to manage mods along with pws and armasync. So far my personal experience is none of these works properly when you have a heavily modded server that your trying to join and the main reason for this is lack of a community consensus or conformity that most can agree on. Bis is making a great step in the right direction with this but currently I for one can't get it to work at all at least for the servers I want to join.

    I had another thread like this opened but per Spanish I think its a good idea to keep this centralized. So with this new workshop thing it seems the addons go into the main arma install folder as opposed to the "my documents" location that playwithsix defaults addons into (i think right?). Are you able to change this in steam? Should I just move all my addons from mydocuments into the arma install folder? Where do most people keep all their addons when using mod programs like pws or armasync???? Now with this new workshop addon thing what is the best way to setup? Thanks

  22. Yea but my whole problem with armasync is alot of times it does not do it all for you. After your done alot of times you still have to do things with the userconfig folder where as pws does it for you.
  23. All I'm saying is this is getting really confusing. Do I use pws or arma sync or the workshop/steamarmalauncher???... And if so where should all my mods be, at the "my documents" location, or the "game folder"?.... Surprised more people aren't talking about this. My feeling is there should be some kind of concensus.... Things are getting more and more scattered like back in arma 2 where you had steam users and non steam users, arma 2 vs arrowhead vs combined ops etc.....

As an example when you go in the editor and open config viewer and navigate to: configFile >> CfgWorlds >> Name_of_map >> AmbientA3 In there you will see for instance under path: configfile >> "CfgWorlds" >> "Stratis" >> "AmbientA3" >> "Radius40_60" >> "Species" >> "CatShark_F" cost = 6; groupSpawnRadius = 10; maxAlt = 10; maxCircleCount = "(4 * (WaterDepth interpolate [1,30,0,1]))"; maxWorldCount = 10; minAlt = -80; spawnCount = 1; My question is what do I do now? How/where do I go to change it? Do I go in the mission folder and edit the mission text file? Can this be changed in game? do I do the change in "init" for a unit or module? Thanks
