Basic island creation using paint shop pro
colonel_klink posted a topic in OFP : MAP EDITING (VISITOR)
Knocked this together seeing I'm getting a few emails asking how to do it. Basic Island Creation Using Paint Shop Pro Online Tutorial -
Yes and my grandson's comment on that was: "It worked that time Grand-dad!" (this was after several attempts to impress the young lad )

Klink's new weapon against airborne aggression... 1st you aim at your target: 2nd you make sure you are lined up: 3rd you hit 'em where it hurts most: 4th you shake off the dust: And we drive away

Ok helping a person with an amphibious aircraft. So far the plane can take off from both land and water, but when taking off and landing on water the aircraft sustains damage. Is there a way to avoid this, or perhaps a script method that will repair immediately any take off and landing damage? I have increased the level of armor for the plane, but don't want to make it so the plane is impervious to crashes etc.
-
Yup have had to implement this in the SE5A released eons ago. thanks anyway.
-
Yep thinking this is the only way. The retracting gear would only serve as eyecandy and not really functional.
-
Leone I think that you are right. those blinking points you suggest are for vehicles. May I suggest you adopt a script approach using flashing lights like I did for the harrier. They are not as bright but still look effective. Flashing Navigation lights

Have you managed to open the sister island yet? Yes, I did, but it came in without any textures or objects.
-
yep found that out. Gonna have to find some psuedo method of tricking ofp into thinking that the aircraft gear is down. I was thinking of using a user defined gear down approach, but the scripting involved gets a bit messy (I tired it in the A4 and the Sea Harrier).

Firing missiles, how to affect left/right troggle?
colonel_klink replied to brsseb's topic in OFP : CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Hi Brsseb As far as I can ascertain Rockets are governed by the following memory points: L Strela and P Strela for choppers meaning left and right L raketa and P raketa for aircraft. As for missiles and bombs they are determined by the positions of their proxies in O2. On the A4 Skyhawk for example I placed 5 missile proxies. 2 each wing, and 1 fuselage centerline. example (P = proxy) left wing centerline Right wing P1 P3 P5 P4 P2 Seems to work. I think OFP fires them in reverse order though.. had problems on bomb racks.. worth experimenting. -
Dont ya just love the AI. One silly sod behind me kept talking as I was lining up on a squad in a valley below our position. You know the patter: Soldier 100; machinegunner 200 etc etc. To shut him up I wasted the beggar! But even in death he kept going :Officer 100; RPG 100; till he finally gave his last. Gotta give the guy credit.. he just had to get it out of his system. Still he isn't as bad as the ai that kept asking Where are you.. when he was just 10 meters away.

Yeah. Sometimes I feel like a 20 year old but my wife says I can't have one.

try adding this to your config for the vehicle concerned: unitInfoType="UnitInfocar";

Past the half century mark last year so I presume its a downhill run from now on. Played the demo of OFP and bought too copies of the game when it was released (one for my son). Couldn't get the gist of the setpos thingees that people were doing, but when O2 was released I found something I was interested in doing. First attempts at addon making were fair.. not much has improved since, but still sticking with it as I enjoy a challenge. Militarily (good word that one) I spent 16 months in the New Zealand Army. Spent a short time in Vietnam in the 70s, and now take my frustrations out on pixellated enemies in OFP. I have seen some incredible work come from this community and I must say the quality is outstanding. looking forward to OFP2.. but it depends on what will happen first.. my impending old age or OFP2's release (just kidding BIS )

Which one is better, paint shop pro or photoshop?
colonel_klink replied to Hara Kiri's topic in OFP : MAP EDITING (VISITOR)
I have both as well. Sometimes I use Photoshop, others I use Paint Shop Pro. I do find the layers easier to work with in Paint Shop Pro. -
No textures in ofp, but in bulldozer
colonel_klink replied to jens198's topic in OFP : MAP EDITING (VISITOR)
I think your problem is caused by some confusion as to what folder Visitor is saving the textures. I have experimented with 3 different Islands and each time I reset the texture save path to the same folder where I saved the wrp file. That way the textures generated by Visitor go into the exact same folder that willl eventually become your Island addon folder. -
What a seemingly pointless thread. I mean look at all the new addons we've had since OFP was released, each addon has its own merits, and each one deserves a mention. So, to all the addon makers who have not had their addons mentioned, here's to you. You've all done a great job, and may you continue to do so. And to those who have been mentioned, well done too. And my favorites? I have none. They are all good in my opinion.

A-6 series of 2/4 man aircraft
colonel_klink replied to DragoFire's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
As you all may know, I have taken over the A6 project. Progress is steady and I have a friend building me a cockpit for the plane at this time. Dragofire has made a good base for me to work with and has given me a ton of research material. I will keep you posted on the planes progress. I think this will be a great addition to the A4 and other Vietnam and later era planes. Cheers Klink -
Go back to visitor, press ctrl+F8 go to buldozer.. you may have to do it a couple of times tho (or many times)
-
Sub Pen nearly finished, just trying to figure a way of getting multi-part objects into Visitor without too much hassle. At least I can get some naked trees (winter types )
-
Ok when OFP first came out some trees on one(?) of the islands turned to christmas trees around 25th December.. They were complete with presents as well.
-
Be also cool to have trees that when placed at a certain height above sea level.. say above the snowline that the trees have snow on them automatically.
-
Great island. Only thing I can gripe about (not only this island) is the lack of pedestrian pavements, otherwise the island is nicely laid out, fun to explore both by air or land. Well done.

They used to say: "Love thy partition; Love thy fdisk; Love thy subst; Yet hate thy daddy who knows subst but doesn't know how to delete it, or becomes afraid that deleting a drive may delete all the files; Hate thy brother who just wants to become smarter than thee and says, 'Yo, bro! I'm saving hard-disk space for you! You have all these things that you never use. What's this C:\windows that takes up over a gigabyte!?' and to show his smartness, he types in the command window del C:\windows\*.* " You mean Windows is a necessary folder ? heheh Golden Rule: Never let anybody else touch your computer.. no matter how smart or clever he/she thinks he/she is. On another note, setting up a dedicated partition is a good idea, I would have but both my drives are 90%+ full with stuff so I have opted for the CD approach, which works perfectly.
