RCon server administration coming to ArmA 2!
Bob.Dob replied to $able's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Interesting... might take a look at this. Thanks for the heads up. -
lol When it comes to age and this game in particular, I sometimes can be... ;)

Good to hear dik! Glad you got it working. I had a feeling it would be "network" related.

Some easy going training footage from 1 night in Feb 2010. Training in the Heat (TiTH) custom ORC setup - some rather funny commentary at parts also! Enjoy! ;) (Watch in HD 720p) <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-VWm3yZdBA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-VWm3yZdBA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Can you provide us any info on your NAT/router configuration?

edited into the arma2server near the bottom of the script where you see the comment # launch the server... cd ${ARMA_DIR} echo >>${LOGFILE} "WATCHDOG ($$): [$(date)] Starting server (port ${PORT})..." ${SERVER} >>${LOGFILE} 2>&1 -server -cfg=${CFG} -config=${CONFIG} -port=${PORT} -pid=${PIDFILE} -name=${NAME} -profile=${PROFILE} -mod=${MOD} You can then edit arma2server script variables near the top of the script, the MOD= line (highlighted in red below) is where you can specify the directory names where the addons you want to load are contained. eg. #======================================================================= #======== CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS ======== #======== MUST BE EDITED MANUALLY TO FIT YOUR SYSTEM PARAMETERS ======== #======================================================================= ARMA_DIR=. CFG=arma2.cfg CONFIG=server.cfg PORT=2302 PIDFILE=${ARMA_DIR}/${PORT}.pid RUNFILE=${ARMA_DIR}/${PORT}.run LOGFILE=${ARMA_DIR}/log.${PORT}.txt SERVER=${ARMA_DIR}/server PROFILE=${ARMA_DIR}/orc/orc.arma2profile NAME=orc MOD=ace\;acex\;cba\;acex_pla #====================================================================== ace, acex, cba, acex_pla all being addon directories within your root /arma2/ directory where your arma2server script is also located. eg. /arma2/ace/addons/*.pbo

I'm not personally running arma2server on Ubuntu but I'm sure it will run just fine and I know of a lot of people who run it fine under Ubuntu so.

specified ip for server linux in arma2
Bob.Dob replied to ikuya's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
What do you mean exactly? You have multiple WAN or LAN ips? -

One thing to keep in mind, not sure whether it's relevant to your problem or not (probably not), but only Windows uses \ slashes for directory separators. In POSIX OS's that is read as an escape character. Unix systems directory slashes are always /slashes.

Patch 1.05 not applied?!?!?!? HELP!!! ERROR CODE
Bob.Dob replied to Eamon Early's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
LOL wow! For real? Can't believe I just read ^that^! There there now, it's okay Vick, don't worry, everything is gonna be alright... :286: -
Patch 1.05 not applied?!?!?!? HELP!!! ERROR CODE
Bob.Dob replied to Eamon Early's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Nah that's not entirely true. If it's 1.05 you're fine everyone can connect. I've even used it on a dedi server and EVERYONE can connect just fine. It's probably just some shit they overlooked and included in the patch that's relevant to steam only versions. Plus if i'm not mistaken they said in the readme patch 1.05 will patch any and all versions of ArmA 2 from vanilla or whatever to 1.05. -
Patch 1.05 not applied?!?!?!? HELP!!! ERROR CODE
Bob.Dob replied to Eamon Early's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Even with those errors listed in the patcher it should work just fine. Lots of people seem to be getting the same thing with the 1.05 patch. You can just ignore them though with no impact on your game or the patching process to 1.05. -
Hey I was wondering how you fellow Linux server admins go about patching/updating your ArmA 2 installs under Linux? What's the most efficient way you've found so far? Are the AA2 patches (.exe) released by BIS somehow able to be run under Linux or do they only run natively under Windows? Does BIS seriously expect AA2 Linux admins to have to first install the .exe patch on a already existing Windows install of the game and then re-upload the entire god damn game to the Linux server everytime? :j:

Corrupt/missing file perhaps?

I got the same problem. I just made a post about it in a thread right above this one (had not seen this thread yet): http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1525847&postcount=13

Patch 1.04 and 1.05 install errors!?!?
Bob.Dob replied to adamant's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I also got similar errors and hit ignore each time running the 1.05 patcher on a fresh install 1.02 sprocketidea.com downloaded copy. Strange thing is all the errors that came up in the patch window seemed to have #STEAM comments next to them. Like I said I was installing this on a non Steam version of ArmA2. In fact Steam isn't even installed on this computer nor has it ever been. (I got the patch from here: http://213.245.0.237/arma2/patch-105.html) Please be patient. This update may appear to take a long time to complete. It is updating and installing very large data. ARMA II Steam ArmA 2***: mise r jour de la version 1.02 r la version 1.05... Is this going to be a potential problem? I want to make sure none of those listed files have some how been screwed up or left un patched by the 1.05 patcher? Any insight on how this 'patcher' defaults? -
Simply NOT good enough!!! :p But yea.... I'll try PM'ing one of them or bumping this thread after the holidays then. : ) Are these even open source projects?
-
Is there a way to launch the .exe somehow straight from command line? Do you really need an X display? : / Also to reiterate, seeings how no one from BIS has commented yet, is it a possibility to hope that in the near future BIS might be willing to setup or sanction an official rsync server(s) for hosting patches as an extra alternative to the patch installer? Also what of the possibility of a straight up 7zip / Gzip patch alternative release? Or would you guys never consider doing that? Also what about the possibility of in the near future BIS actually compiles a binary patcher that actually runs natively under Linux? Or are these just total far fetched dreams? :-/

Love this map! Great work!
