  1. That's what I was thinking. I'll give it a pass.

    Does AI ignore grass?

If you can see them..why on earth would you expect them not to "see" you?

    Does AI ignore grass?

and FYI - many a slap on the wrist has been handed out by the mods for creating an identical thread instead of using the search feature.

Graphics..who cares! Tired of hearing about how many rivets something actually has or whether or not the shell casings can be seen ejecting. That's nothing but eye candy. Read the serial number on your rifle and the computer shoves a banana in your mouth.:p I'm playing DukeNukem 3D and finding it a blast. Excellent game play. Graphics aren't all that great even in Win7 64 but fun non the less. How many crap games out there were sold based solely on eye candy (graphics). PR is about game play and THAT is what interest me. That's why I'm so looking forward to it's release. If it also looks pretty well , that's just a bonus. edit : just looked at the screen shots and OMG it does....

ARMA 2 and VAC (Voice Activated Commands)

He forgot to mention that if you need the ASCII's for any keystrokes for any reason there's a "keyboard tester" with VAC that spits them out for you.

ARMA 2 and VAC (Voice Activated Commands)

Been using VAC since ArmA1 and find it hard to play games without it now (ArmA2 , MS FSX , SH4 etc,.). Almost makes the game seem like your playing with real people except the AI do what you ask them to instead of disappearing of into the distance to do their own thing. TrackIR was touted for ArmA but I never use it in game except for flying. Simple button click gives me free look.

Why I stopped playing Arma 2

Tend to agree with the OP on many points. There are mods out there to overcome most of them but the question is , why is a mod necessary? The developers should have realized the problems and corrected them themselves instead of relying on the community to overcome the short falls. Hoping the new expansion pack will correct a lot (or most) of these problems. Meantime , since there's nothing out there that even comes close to ArmA2's tactical approach , I play and enjoy what I can.

Well they don't call it Project REALITY for nothing.. Bonus is that some of the PRM crew actually are active serving members of the armed forces so can sneak pics of actual equipment for modeling. :)

    Project Reality Development

I sorta gave up on ArmA2 MP quit a while ago for a number of reasons but being an old PRM player , if the essence of the mod remains the same as "that other game that shall not be mentioned" 's version ;), well , count me in. After seeing what some imaginative coding could do to that other engine , what could possibly be achieved with ArmA2 is mind boggling. Looking forward to the initial release.

No new news eh? With all the paranoia in here about mods compatibility and PRM I wouldn't blame the team if they simply said " who needs all this sh**" and simply moved on , depriving us of a golden opportunity. The vast majority in here have absolutely NO idea what they are babbling about but how could they..the PR developers are keeping most of it under wraps right now. I am tired of all this BS and think I'll keep an eye on the PR site for developing news as this thread has become nothing more than an mass of postings of meaningless , hypothetical speculative babble and should be locked.(better yet ..deleted)

Why all the trepidation? Have you even played BF2's PRM?? Have you seen what the PRM development team did with BF2 even with the limits built into it's engine?? Why not just sit back , wait and see what they come up with THEN judge rather than merely speculating.

    Project Reality Development

One thing that's being overlooked is that if the ArmA2 PRM livess up to it's counterpart , there just may be a huge influx of BF2 PRM players into ArmA2. To clarify BF2's PRM "fuzzy" suppression screen: It's meant to emulates fear of getting shot by making it difficult to stick your head out from cover , take aim and nail the opponent. So difficult in fact why bother so you cower behind cover or move your butt, just as you would in real life. You can return fire , only not very accurately. Makes suppression an effective tool then rather than just have bullets flying around. As far as SP goes , I don't see why a custom mission using PRM maps and assets couldn't be loaded into the editor and away we go. The AI is built into the ArmA2 code. Only problem with compatibility issues is that some of the great AI tweak mods (which the PRM team apparently isn't going to address for a while) may not work..but then again .. they may. For MP , if ArmA2 PRM ends up being as organized a PvP game as it's counterpart , I for one am looking forward to it. BF2 PRM has squads (which I don't think can be implemented in ArmA2) and lots of servers wont let you stay online unless you're in a squad. Jack around and the squad leader can kick you out of his squad. Not in a squad then server boots you. The squad based system goes along way to promoting team work. Guess we'll all have to sit back , relax and wait to see what the PRM team comes up with eh? Also one of the major MP flaws. If I'm advancing I want to know others are covering/spotting etc. not wondring off somewhere looking for something to shoot. Your group may need an AT member but no one wants to do it because they want to play the game "their way"?

    WarFX Particles

:eek:More than likely there's a conflict in there somewhere. Good luck trying to find it. :p Try not using some of those other mods and add them one at a time to see which one creates the conflict.

    Project Reality Development

As an old PRM player that turned to ArmA2 , I really look forward to seeing the PRM team delve into ArmA2. Have to agree that it shouldn't necessarily accommodate other mods as that throws in a great deal of complexity, not only for the team but us players as well. Hopefully you'll also be able to utilize the phenomenal AI (though they do have some faults) to offer us a great SP as well as online experience. Good to see you guys here....

    WarFX Particles

Judging by the quality of the particles mod , give us a sound and environment and what else would we need???? :D
  16. Well there's always TrackIR that allows you to look around and VAC Software (Voice Activated Commands) that allow you to speak the keyboard commands to the game. Unless you have a physical disability the precludes the use of the standard mouse/key board , I'd say learn to use them.:p as there are too many complex commands in ArmA2 for a console controller. And as far as comparing your abilities in OFP-DR think of it this way.. OFP-DR = checkers ArmA2 = Chess.
  17. BeerHunter

This is why I hope Arma never goes to console

I think it's a gross over generalization to think that all console users are immature kids. Plenty of mature adults also enjoy console games.
  18. When ACE comes out of beta will there be a normal installation or will the downloader still be necessary?

    How to throw grenades?

Would also be nice if you could throw underhanded or roll them into buildings instead of pitching them all the time.

    Warfare Questions

Txs for the link. May be outdated but at least gives you an idea on how to play and what the objectives of the game are. An updated version though would be appreciated if possible...

    WarFX Particles

Sarcasm my friend...:) .. and words of encouragement to Opticalsnare. :) FYI I never did encounter any problems out of the box that weren't computer related (low end system at the time) . Many did though. but we digress.

    Warfare Questions

There was a sort of introductory how to manual in the last ArmA1 patch that introduced "warfare" into the game. Maybe if anyone still has it they could post it so those interested could DL it??

Would have been nice if BI had your work ethics..ie don't release it until it's finished..:p

  25. Is it possible to attach a script to an object (say a building or armored vehicle) to force an action on them?
