New ARMA2 OA Beta Patch 72418 Available!
BeerHunter replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I think that's a quirk in mods , not BI. -
I contacted SecureRom and apparently that feature isn't available in all areas. You could try using the newest Beta patch. Removes the disc check but it would be nice if you do go this route to at least keep an eye on the forum section and report any problems you run into. This after all is WHY BI releases Beta patches.

What is this "Blastcore" of which you speak? If that's the name of WarFX I'm simply stating that after the next release from OS , since he's venturing off on life's path in a different direction , then there will be no further enhancements / upgrades to WarFX .If BI release patches /upgrades that disable or screw up the mod (as apparently OA did with the fire) we're SOL unless someone else picks it up and carries on. Or is Blastcore a different mod someone else is working on???

Arrowhead with Build_72197, the newest cba and 1.4beta warfx and I do get the spinning flames...and no other mods running. Also happens with arrowhead with Build_72197, the newest cba and 1.41beta warfx Love the mod and am REALLY going to miss looking forward to any progress as no one else seems to have picked up the ball. Still amazes me how even BI with all their hype about realism (shell ejecting on wrong side , animations etc.) could over look something as simple yet so immersive as having bullet impacts LOOK deadly rather than resembling pain ball splatters.

What is considered a good frame rate for multi-player in Arma2?
BeerHunter replied to polar bear's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
As long as the visuals run smoothly then whatever the FPS be , that's good enough for me. Not obsessed with numbers. -
New ARMA2 OA Beta Patch 72291 Available!

Same here. -
Beg to differ. 12M Sales - no profit Activiision only reported GROSS sales , not NET after all costs. Besides , they are supplementing their earnings by charging for DLC , and not $10 either..look up their pricing. Considering a one page add in a game magazine can cost up to $250,000 it doesn't take much to appreciate that word of mouth (game reviews etc.) is your cheapest and best bet.

Jesus..still arguing over a few bucks for DLC? How much did you pay for your upgrade to run ArmA2?? How much are you going to pay in a couple of years when all you hardware is obsolete?? How much are you paying PER MONTH for the ability to come on here and whine? If BI produces 10 DLC packages over the next couple of years at the same price you are going to be about about $100. If that is going to break the bank then maybe you should be looking for another hobby.

Might be a dumb question but what exactly is the LOD you are referring to? Level of detail ; Load on Demand ; Large Organic Deposit :p ...??? Wondering..assuming it's Level of Detail.. -
ArmaEdit ArmA2 dat files

Txs for that. Looking forward to your further updates. I know it's a hell of a lot of time consuming work...greatly appreciated. -

Wondering if anyone is or has worked on updating the files to include OA... -
Tend to agree Walker. I've found that if you don't run up behind the AI clanking and clunking , wait until they are looking AWAY from you and stay CONCEALED behind a bush , they don't know you're there until you swing your weapon around (instead of using free look) , lie prone with you're feet sticking out a mile or start shooting. Then they tend to pepper the area until finally you are..demised. :p

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
BeerHunter replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Will the DLC be available in ArmA2 as well or only in OA? -
As well as the obvious performance tests , I'm wondering if part of the BI team are also working on some of the annoying little quirks , such as AI driving skills (or lack of ;) ) etc. that will be released with the full patch.

Good ones. Not to mention that high powered rounds will easily penetrate a 12" tree. And who in their right mind would think that being silhouetted on the top of a crest doesn't make you an ideal target? Me thinks that the vast majority complaining about how easy they die and blaming the AI garner their knowledge and tactics from Hollywood where cardboard boxes are used for cover , bullets won't penetrate a wooden picket fence and you really should be able to dive through the air blasting away with with 2 Desert Eagles and score 100% accuracy.:p

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
BeerHunter replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Oh god..43+ pages full of debates as to whether or not BI deserves the right to profit from it's endeavors. Sounding a lot like the ArmA2 PR rampage a while back. People whining about something that doesn't even exist yet. For a measly $10 (about 1/3 of what you pay every month for your internet service ) you get a shit load of additional content that's STANDARDIZED so if you want to play online , you aren't assaulted with a list of mods you have to find , download and install. As far as I'm concerned , if BI offers something I think I would be interested in having , I'll buy it. If I'm not interested , then I won't. Simple as that. You can do the same. (and that's 20 minutes of my life wasted reading through this I'll never get back) -
Rank scripting beginner here. Why doesn't this work?
BeerHunter posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I do have a fair bit of programming experience using Basic and C++ but this scripting language is like nothing I've ever seen before.:p So I've started to delve into it remembering that moving from Basic to C++ was a mass of confusion as well. Anyway , I've put the following code in the initialization line: I end up with an MP5 with 1 magazine. Why isn't the "do" loop executing? Far as I can tell the syntax is correct...but then.. Is it possible that the initialization isn't capable of handling complex commands such as loops and that these should be in a seperate script that gets called? Another thing..I've noticed that when typing the command in the editor it displays suggested possible scripting calls (right term??). Is there a way to grab these and insert them rather than having to type the entire string into the initialization box? -

BeerHunter replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
DOH!! I was sure I read somewhere that all variables are initialized with a value of 1 and since they are neither defined nor declared , assumed it would automatically start at 1 each time the script fired. Now I know better and wont be making that same mistake again. Txs And kylania , txs for that tip. -
I understand that BI went to great lengths to get realistic sounds for OA and am assuming , since they are so muted , that the intent is to simulate what they would sound like using the standard ear protection issued by the military. What I can't understand though is why they left the bullet impacts that resemble air soft rather than high velocity projectiles. This really detracts from the immersion. I'd much rather have realistic bullet impacts than spraying blood and body parts. I was using Opticalsnare's WarFX particles but now that he's retired from modding , where does that leave us if BI isn't going to do anything about it?

Need some help with latest beta and the Combined Version of ArmaII
BeerHunter replied to mcarma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Did exactly the same thing ( created a short cut to the beta .exe.) and got the exact same error message. You have to use the shortcut found in your ArmA2 folder to run the beta patched version but see you figured it out. -

And the short cut you HAVE to use to start the beta is in you main ArmA2 path. -
[OA] Change verification from disc to online etc.
BeerHunter posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I searched and found something about deleting the lang.ini and paul.dll files so tried this and nothing changed. Tried starting the game with/without the disc but was never given the opption to change verification method. I originally installed using the disc verification and am thinking I'd like to change to online verification IF you don't have to be online all the time you are playing , only for the initial loading of the game. During the install it said the method could be changed at any time but be damned if I can find out how (other than a complete re-install). Checked the SecureROM site but other than mentioning you can change the verification process at any time , no details as to how this is done. Is there a way to do this without havng to re-install all over again? Txs -

unlocking weapons in armory. what for?
BeerHunter replied to topeira's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
God how I hate answer's like that. Maybe telling us HOW you did it so anyone else that wants to unlock can do it too. BTW there's another way that I used besides typing in that command line. So there! -
For a CLEAN install , simply delete the ArmA2 folder (if you have OA DL and run the SecureROM removal tool first) in it's entirety. Go and get CCLeaner and run it to clean your registry of any ArmA2 entries. You should then be able to reinstall cleanly and patch but you'll lose your mods unless you move the @folder's somewhere before deleting the ArmA2 folder. There's a slew of free DL utilities to clean up your Windows uninstall folders. Should work...did for me.
