  1. Hello everyone, I posted something similar in the part of the forum intended for new players (I'm new to Arma 3 but I've been playing the other games in the series going back to OFP). I'm reposting part of it here for more opinions and because it's clearly the more appropriate location for it: Is anyone more technical-minded, or perhaps with a similar set-up, able to tell me if the following is suitable for both SP and MP play? (I realize that this meets the recommended requirements, but I also know that performance is unpredictable): Intel Core i5-10300H CPU with 16 GB of RAM. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Mobile). Thank you in advance for any advice.

    OFP old-timer - getting into Arma 3

Thank you all for the thorough and helpful replies. I'll take the system specs bit to the thread Janez linked for some more opinions. The rest is getting bookmarked / noted!
  3. Hello all, I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. Assuming it is: After thoroughly playing OFP many years ago and dabbling in Arma and Arma 2, I would like to get into Arma 3 (for personal reasons gaming wasn't feasible for me during the past few years). I'm pleased to see that years after release, the community looks like it's thriving. I want to purchase a gaming laptop, but I also want to be sure that my choice will let me enjoy the game to the full (good FPS rate and high graphics settings, etc). Is anyone more technical-minded, or perhaps with a similar set-up, able to tell me if the following is suitable for both SP and MP play? (I realize that this meets the recommended requirements, but I also know that performance is unpredictable): Intel Core i5-10300H CPU with 16 GB of RAM. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Mobile). Related questions: I see various sets of downloadable content for sale along with the game. Is it advisable to buy them all? I'm interested in all kinds of gameplay. What's popular these days? Is there anything else a newcomer should generally know? Again, sorry if these questions should be posted elsewhere. Thanks very much for any advice.
  4. When playing online my chat stops working periodically, then starts working again after a while, and then stops, and so on. Sometimes this lasts for a few minutes, quite often for more than half an hour. When I type I can see the cursor move, but the chat bar is blank, and all I and other players can see is this: " Â Â ". This means I spend a lot of time unable to communicate with other players, which is REALLY frustrating because I have to either quit and restart ArmA and then re-join the game, or coninue playing silently with people assuming that I'm AFK or ignoring them. Please help me.

    BattlEye: Client Not Responding

I have the same problem as you. Tried everything that's been suggested but to no avail. Really frustrating.

    Bad Performance on Decent PC

I have managed to get it running smoothly after lowering the view distance to 700 and setting all graphics settings to either disabled or low. Thanks to all those who offered me advice.

    Night Vision Problem

Hello, I'm having yet another ArmA problem...this time it's with NV. While playing night-time missions, NV works fine for a while, but then it either decides to switch off randomly for a period of time, or flickers on and off very rapidly. The process just keeps looping like that, and it makes gameplay very hard. The assigned key seems to have no effect after it starts messing up, nor does altering the graphics settings. Help me, please.

BraTTy, you couldn't tell me your exact settings, could you? I'd be really grateful for that.

    Bad Performance on Decent PC

Mr_Tea: I use Windows XP. ... Isn't it ridiculous that Operation Flashpoint runs like a charm on any outdated machine, but ArmA is unplayable on anything but a cutting edge PC? This is the second time I've gone and bought new hardware just for ArmA, and the second time it hasn't worked. The recommended requirements listed on the game box are absolute bullshit and should be much higher...how can BIS treat people like this?
  10. I've just had my old PC updated with a new graphics card, new HDDs, new processor etc., and have once again tried to get ArmA running smoothly... Even on a far better machine, the in-game performance is not up to par. It runs fine on missions away from built-up areas and involving limited numbers of units (which is a major improvement), but the moment I'm anywhere near a small village or playing against more than a couple of enemy squads, it becomes laggy. Cutscenes are horrible: objects appear as ugly-looking polygons and take a few seconds to show up properly. It is impossible to shoot anything mobile because it looks like they're teleporting from place to place. Any combat situations are a nightmare because I'm dead by the time the damn crosshair has crawled its way across the screen to the target. There is no difference EVEN with most graphics settings set to low or disabled and view distance reduced to 600!!! I've tried many of the things mentioned on the stickies, including deleting the paging file, tweaking the NVIDIA control panel, and something to do with modifying Core2Duo...no difference at all. Here is the config. of my PC: GeForce 8600 GS 256MB with latest driver Intel Core2Duo 2.01 GHz 1 GB RAM 160 GB HDD space I'm at my wits end here, please help

OFP Crashes to Desktop While Launching

I read in a post that this problem can be caused by changing OFP's graphics settings, and come to think of it, I'm quite sure that it may have been caused by just that. The last time I played (months ago), I vaguely remember setting them higher than they had ever been before... In that case, would be possible to edit the values in one of the game files to correct the problem? If so, how exactly can I do it?
  13. Hello, I haven't played OFP for quite a while and today, when I tried to launch it, it crashed to desktop after a few seconds and I received an error message which said something like: 'Create Vertex Buffer failed - out of memory?'. Can someone please tell me what I should do to fix this?
