ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
BadBone replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
TBH even though i like Arma 2, i was kinda hopeing it was gonna be working a lot better than the state Arma was when it came out. Single player is worse!! Doesnt look like it was bug tested very well at all, just rushed out before OFP2 and left to the community to fix. Shame games can be released in this state, especially when it was just as bad with Arma, and from what ive heard, OFP to. Need a governing body over games to say " you cantt release that, its broken " -
But once im aboard how do i make it move? Just been trying all buttons on keyboard, space bar, rgt ctrl space, checking through keyboard controls in manual and in game. Wtf, how do i tell pilot to move?:j: TIA

BadBone replied to BadBone's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Only me has this problem? -
Playing CTF last night, and popping rounds into peoples heads as they stuck out from behind a wall got me thinking about how many ArmA players would be able to do this for real. I know probably 90+% of us ArmA players have not been in the military, and ofc it would depend on the situation and mentality at the time, if you were a soldier and the order was given If the enemy was square in your sights, could YOU shoot to kill? Answers 1-4 My original answer when i started writing this thread was no, but truth is, if it was kill or be killed my answer is number 2. However, if i was not under fire and there was only one enemy who didnt know i was there and i was told to kill him, i dont think  i could. My answer remains number two though. If you do vote and dont mind others knowing you are a cold hearted killing machine  could you please post which country you are from, likewise if you would not shoot? Anonymous votes very welcome to. So what if you have vista 32 with exact same probs and nothing in that wiki works? Hd4870 c2duo 4gb ram vista 32
-
Nah, still doesnt work for me in -window mode, if i add that to the shortcut i get the error Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical engine Updated DX9 and it still does it, if i remove the -window i just get the fuc*ed up menus again. Ive tried reducing memory in msconfig, maxmem command, arma launcher in window mode and limited memory. I just dont get why it wont work, Very frustrating
-
Ah, dont think i did, trying that now, re-installing again
-
I had nearly the same prob, black sceen then f***ed up menus that wouldnt play. Was fine on my old 8800gts, as soon as i got an ati hd4870 it was fubar'd. Tried most things mentioned in the vista thread months ago, no joy, so gave up. Im on vista 32 btw, and 4gig mem. Pain in the f****** ass even with the -window command in the shortcut ? hmmm was months ago, which command? Max mem one i tried. Have you got it working now?

Been away from ArmA for ages, just tried re-installing it twice and still no joy. The installation completes, i double click the desktop icon and when ArmA loads ive got more than half the screen missing and  very fubar'd menu's with no writting in them. I used to use the maxmem command so have tried that, no joy. Tried run as admin, compatability for xp and nothing works. The only thing different with my system now to when i used to play ArmA is a new graphics card, ATI HD 4870. Ive not got any patches, just the 505 UK dvd. Im not downloading any patches either as my connection is very very slow. Just wanted to see what ArmA looked like on this card. Heres a screeny    Any ideas? TIA vista 32

Half screen missing after installation and FUBAR'd
BadBone replied to BadBone's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Cheers, ive been through that thread and noticed there are people with the exact problem as me but no direct solution to the problem, tried loads of thing suggested in that thread and have now decided ive spent to much time trying to fix it with no joy. Must be an ATI thing as i never had this problem with Nvidia. ......i'll maybe wait for ArmA 2 -
Sorry, topic should say " is there going to be a proper fix Been away from ArmA for a few months as i wasnt happy with performance on my old pc. I now have 8800gts 320 mb, c2d e6750, 2gb ddr2 and vista 32. After starting up ArmA yesterday and loving how it looked and ran then getting the " ArmA has stopped working " poop, i searched these forums for the so called hot fixes, installed them and ArmA ran great for an hour last night. Tried again today and its crashing after a few mins all the time. Yes i know vista is not recomended os for ArmA, but is anyone working on making it compatible with ArmA? Should i just bin ArmA and wait for ArmA 2. Btw im using 163.69 drivers, the latest vista 32 i believe?

Is there going to be a "proper" vista fix?
BadBone replied to BadBone's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have not tried the maxmem thing no,i thought that was for 512mb + on a graphics card? I'll give it a try. Yes there are a lot of vista threads, but there are also a lot of vista users needing a fix, and having to search through pages and pages just seems stupid to me, there should be a sticky on the front page with fixes and comming fixes as more and more users are switching to vista. Its not very good PR if new customers buy ArmA then have to search for hours to get it working. Then it should be stickied on front page imo -
Can i install Arma DVD on two different computers?
BadBone replied to the_bengine's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
You`re not. It is illegal to install ArmA on more than one machine, thats a fact. Thats what MadDogX said, possible but not legal -
How did you get the freelook exe to run? I always get " freelook has encountered a problem and needs to close " no matter which version i try Tried the fix from their not very supportive forums to, eg : video input device to use (default 0) camera = 1 Still no joy
-
eh? every game(well almost) ive ever played online has different versions patched. Just patch to 1.08

Im hearing this a lot lately, mainly on HOLD ( Be[z]erk ) servers. Actually i hear it everytime i play a Hold server now, whats happened? The imature population of other FPS games have now disscovered ArmA? Whatever, its very annoying to hear you crying that someone is camping, get over it. "Camping" is part of ArmA, A BIG part of real war, and the more you spam chat that someone is camping, the more you will be camped and targeted, by me anyhow, at least. Rant before dinner mode off:
-
Grow up ArmA is suposed to be a pretty realistic game. And it's kinda realistic to use tactics like ambushing and sniping... wow, you managed to read the header, now read the post ffs I cannot believe someone would read the thread header and jump in with two feet posting a reply without reading the OP
-
Thanks for blaming "camping" on people from the US. Could you have come up with a more ridiculous stereotype. Remember this process: STEP 1: THINK STEP 2: TYPE He's not blaming " camping " on people from the US He's blaming " omgz, stop camping nub " on people from the US But seriously, Â he means this happens everytime ArmA is released in a new country ( US was last? ) and when the " newbies " realize what ArmA is all about, the stop camping spam will quiet down again. If you read my OP again, you will see i say " im hearing this a lot lately " and Puma's post is pointing out that a lot of US newbies have joined the ArmA community " lately ". Which makes me think that he has seen this happen before when, say ArmA was released in the UK. I can see his post is not being stereotypical.
