    Demo Troubleshooting thread.

I caved and formatted my PC, since it needed doing anyway I guess. Demo now gives me the dx9 dll error, and I'm currently downloading the fix from microsoft right now for that. I guess formatting does indeed fix it. It'd be really nice to know what conflicts and causes this error, its probably all of 10 seconds of work to fix it if we knew what was really causing it. Spending 5 hours backing up/formatting/reinstalling everything is a huge pain in the ass. Well I'm afraid that if that is the only cure then the game can wait until I'm ready to do it again. I only built the PC 2 months ago and I'm not doing it again now just so that I can play a demo.

Not in my case sadly. Already tried everything suggested there. I guess it just doesn't like something about my PC. I was looking forward to trying this. I played a lot of BF2 but was ultimately disappointed in it compared to DC. I was hoping this would have the competitive play that BF2 lacks.

I already have the latest NForce and graphics card drivers so unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the cause in my case

No, but the least they could do would be to come on here and let us know that they are taking notice of our posts and that they are doing something about it. Just ignoring us is not giving a very good impression of the company and makes you wonder how well they will support the full game when it is released.

I'm sorry, but the small size of the team does not excuse not responding to their own official forums troubleshooting thread. I assume that as any sensible company would they will be monitoring this thread to find out the problems they are facing. Not responding is just plain rude. Don't get me wrong, I still want to play this game. I've been looking forward to it for a long time, but given the fact that it appears to be VERY fussy about what hardware it wants to run on I want to be sure that it'll run on mine before I spend my hard earned cash on it. You may be rich enough to buy a game on the off chance as your comment about buying it being my choice suggests, but I'm not. Oh, and suggesting that a user should format their hard disk to make the game work? What planet did the person who suggested that come from?

Perhaps they should have held off releasing the demo until they'd tested it a little more. Even EA manage to make their demos work. They just screw their games up with subsequent patches. TBH I don't feel inclined to give them much slack. They release a demo which doesn't work and then in 5 pages of people reporting problems I'm yet to see an official response. Shame. It looked like a good game but I'm certainly not going to spend money on it. If they can't even respond to their own troubleshooting thread in their own forums what help is there likely to be when the game is actually released?

OK, I'll put it in here. I've installed the demo version but whenever I try to run it a Windows error appears. The error does not contain any kind of information about the cause. My PC was only rebuilt a few weeks ago so it definitely has all the latest drivers. I've tried updating the OpenAL but the problem still remains. I'd really like to buy this game when it's released in the UK but clearly I'm not going to if even the demo won't run. AMD A64 3000+ Nvidia 7600GT 1Gb PC3200 RAM Creative xFi sound card.
