Any hope 1.05 will work better on the 8800 cards?

I have exactly the same system as you (only my Vista is 32 bit Home Premium), and I also experience this. However maybe not as often as you discribe. 8800 is a very unlucky choice if you wanna play ArmA right now. This is only one of many graphical problems reported by 8800 users. We can only hope a future driver will fix it I think.

I use Vista with the latest beta drivers and that dont help alot. 100.65 I think it is now. I'm not sure who's to blame for this, but NVIDIA seems the most likely suspect. When is ATI releasing their next high-end (DX10) gfx card? I'll definitely consider it if 8800 problems aren't solved by then.

I bought a new PC with 8800GTX and have had alot of problems running ArmA on it. The same ones as mentioned here and the "white fog" issue mentioned in several other threads. My previous PC with 7900GT did much better running ArmA. It's strange.

Sorry for this reply that wont bring any solutions, just wanted to say that I have the exact same problem as you. I've got a brand new system E6600, 8800GTX and 32bit Home premium Vista. At least now I know it's not just a unique problem for me. I recently bought a new PC with Vista. I bought the download german version of the game back in desember and played it on my old XP PC. Now if i download the arma files to my new Vista computer I can install it but not run it. It says: "File not found D3DX9_30.DLL". I've sent a mail to the online distributor but not got a reply yet.

I get this from time to time with my new rig with 8800GTX and Vista. Never happened on my old PC.

Yeah it looks like the usual fog, only on steroids.. I dont know how to set those values like you said. But that shouldn't count when I play online anyway should it? Maybe I'll buy it for a second time now that it will shortly be released on disc in EU. And hope it helps.

I dont know if it's a Vista related problem. It's strange, because alot of ppl already run ArmA on Vista. Sickboy even has the same GPU as me (and I guess u use the 100.59 drivers too?). My old XP pc with a 7900GT runs ArmA without this problem. I was pretty sure the HDR settings would solve it, but no. Hopefully I'll find a solution or a driver update will fix it for me. The next PC I buy I'll test run ArmA in advance to be sure.

Yes. When I've tried different 3D settings in my NVIDIA control panel, I've tested this in the editor. It's not a completely "static" fog, it changes color and density while I play. It's really strange..

No it said HDR=16 when I read it again. I checked the Read Only box when I did it the first time, on your advice.

I got the 1.02 german version and installed your latest language file but my game is still in german. I used your language fix on my old comp with the same ArmA version and it worked fine. I dont get any errors installing it now either. It says it's installed successfully. What may I have done wrong?

Ok, thanks for the reply but where do I find my arma.cfg file? Couldn't see it in my ArmA folder.. sorry I'm not as competent on my computer as most ppl in here are.

I see you have 8800GTX and Vista like me. I wonder what are your 3D settings like? I get great fps and can run very high quality graphics, but it's quite grey and unclear in a distance. Almost like fog. Makes it hard to identify. I've compared my screens to my previous pc and it's very noticable. Even with my viewdistance much higher than before. I'm puzzled. Slightly off topic but can any1 confirm that the game supports 1920x1200 resolution? Any1 running ArmA on a 24" LCD here?

Just wanted to add that an ROE penalty system like in Americas Army works very well in my opinion. That way you cant do multiple teamkills. You cant secretly injure team mates either (which actually is happening, yes). It usually happens when ppl respawn and there are no immediate means of transport to the objectives.

I hope they just fix the ISSUES with the heli flying/physics and dont just make it alot easier to handle. I actually like the way controls are now, but I guess I'm alone thinking that. However the obvious flaws stated by some needs a fix.

For US forces I'd go for Marpat. The best available in the game yet must be Fredderns Norwegian addon uniforms. They fit in perfectly with the common green on Sahrani.

I agree all the way. The multiplayer interface should include the features you mention. I'm not an OFP veteran so this interface was completely new to me. I thought there were ways to see player lists, what mission is being played, the progress/status of the game etc. and that I just had not found the keys to read it yet   So there is definitely room for improvement here. Still I must say I'm very pleased with this game overall   Even with the bugs we all know. Edit: also I'm used to being able to type "stat fps" and other commands ingame. I see people use fraps to read their fps here.
