I find the best tactic is to get an mg and fire at the enemy until they are dead. Either that or go by myself with a sniper rifle and camp spawn. It takes ~20 mins before they figure out where I am.

You have to admit that teamkilling is pretty funny though, especially since running over people doesn't count as a TK. We do it all the time on our server while we wait for the blackhawk to respawn in Evolution.

I totally disagree, it improved compared with OFP, but years behind competitors. Maybe the capabilities are in the engine, but not used, missing: - general destructible glass in buildings - more sensitive spots at vehicles (optics, radar dishes, ammo compartment) - the strange way buildings collapsing And again, and again and again... Name me ONE so called "competitor" that does EVERYTHING done by ArmA. One. Just one. Simply put : there is none. Others are better in certain specific areas. Absolutely none do it all like ArmA does. No wonder there's none : they couldn't handle much more than ArmA does. They couldn't have all their neat features implemented either with the number of units possible in ArmA, or over the scale possible in ArmA, or with the wide range of units/weapons/vehicles present in ArmA. If you concentrate on one area, you will find better than ArmA, no doubt about that. And ArmA is probably not a game for you. There's definitely room for improvement. But it's not a bad game, and no other games do it better (because no other game do it, as simple as that) Oblivion?

I believe in STALKER when you hit reload while sprinting you get slowed to a walk. Similarly if you begin firing.

*crosscom activated* . Well in real life you would have your squadmates shouting out "sniper in that tower!", etc. and a hovering apache calling out targets. Tagging with Crosscom works better in a computer game situation than shouting at the computer screen (unless that floats your boat).

Right now GRAW is a better representation of the present US war experience than ArmA.

My biggest gripe with ArmA is that the US Army is the lesser of the Sahranis. For a two-bit teapot banana country, the Sahranis have more advanced and capable weapon systems. Compare V-80 and Su-34 vs the 1960s(! derivative Ah-1 and Harrier, ak-74 which does more damage than m4, bmp2 that is more capable than the stryker, mi17 that has like 200 rockets and a t-72 which can one shot the abrams. Furthermore the traditional strengths of the US Army are completely absent ingame. Where are our artillery, UAVs + satscans, thermal sights, Javelins and overwhelming air superiority? The US force has one plane that doesn't even engage the enemy! ArmA's US soldiers are running around in ACUs, but they seem to have missed out on the last 15 years' revolution in warfare. Aside from the m4 and Stryker they are a 1985 force. PS: Thermal sights and artillery are not just small omissions. Thermal sights are the main reason we managed to turkey shoot the Iraqis in the Gulf War, and artillery is the Queen of the Battlefield!

Is it me or does the Apache not engage anything? My air support just got toasted by a solitary T72 and its mg.

I was using the hind with the fixed gun. Still, it'd be nice to watch infantry get tossed into the air by multiple rocket blasts. Just download vilas_air.pbo for a working demonstration.

I've noticed the Hinds don't engage infantry. I would suggest using vilas heli configs which do. Vilas cobra can take out a single riflemen with pinpoint accuracy using a FFAR.

I can't understand why they took out the life cheat. Every FPS I know with singleplayer, from Half-Life to Doom 3, has a god mode feature. I don't get much time to play these days and when I do I like to chill out and muck about. One of my favourite pastimes is to set up massive ai-on-ai engagements and just enjoy the battle (and take screenies). But without the life cheat I am constantly getting pwned by stray rockets or gunfire while I play photojournalist. So come on guys, reinstate the life cheat. It's not just about me. I know a lot of guys who would like it for testing addons and missions, etc. Afeter all, what harm would god mode do?

When I go to fly any chopper it wobbles all over the place. Level flight is almost impossible. I feel like Durant in Black Hawk Down after he gets clipped by the RPG and complains of vibration in the pedals, before his BH spins violently out of control and crashes (which is inevitably the outcome with me). I don't understand. Why is this? And don't say its another FADE-related bug. You guys excuse everything by saying its FADE. BI has a seagull fetish, get over it.

Are you sure ARMA's wobbly ass chopper flight model is more realistic? Harder doesn't mean more realistic.
