Arma + 30 FPS + Multiplayer Coop map + 6 hours + some really weird/funny/cooperative players = WIN. Ive been playing for about 13 hrs and stopped when the lod texture bug started popping in. If it wasnt for that id still be playing! I cant thank BIS enough for the improvement to the Flashpoint engine. I've kept a valuable treasure to myself too much so this weekend im actually planning to bring my friends over and demonstrate Arma and all its goodness to them!!111!!!!

not that im aware of. The only few (well-known) games i noe that were banned was Half Life and GTA. Even so the ban was lifted many many years ago. CS is still alive here in LAN shops.... sadly. And GTA was pirated like mad. Gotta agree that some of us here, like my mom and dad, follow the law feverishly. They're pissed scared of stepping on big brother's toes. (OT sry) I got my copy from Atari already. Nice simple packaging... not even a plastic jewel case for the cd. You should check out Malaysia and their ban-sprees. Ouch.

i went by to the nearest PC shop in my neighbourhood and yup.. Armed Assault is out in Singapore. 55 singapore dollars. nice. Whats even better was that i won a copy from Atari's site in their recent competition hehehehehehe. Collecting in 9 hrs time! It still a sad thing though that i havent found anyone in this country as interested in the game as the people here on the forums.

which chopper was it? The AH-6 and MH-6 rarely ever explodes when they fall off the sky... except when it's like really high up.

how about having a battle in the open fields near corazol? They remind me a lot of Normandy. You could have a huge battle with tanks and apcs or you could have a small standoff between two troops or men from across the empty field. You could also (or should) pick some themes... like... "At the end of the game the king and the pawn go back in the same box." I guess themes really help in placing a bearing in what you're thinking of doing. It gives your characters something to work to and helps in driving ur movie. Hope that helps. I didnt give u any story ideas did i lol.

I second Darksoul's opinion on the AK sights... ...they're just too tiny.
-
i think this also happens when a unit is set to "careless". I had about ten SLA units on careless and another ten of US troops on careless. I had their waypoints such that they walk into each other. So far so good... they walk... dont fire.. but exchange ugly stares. however when they start to get really close (i.e. body contact) they will open fire and everything will go messy with everyone else opening fire.

@stugwi Oh yeah i remember that sniper on the roof. Took me by surprise... twice! The first time i couldnt even find the bugger. @ bardosy. I just finished your 1.0 version of the campaign (replayed again) and i must say it's ten hours well spent. Very well spent. i cant comment enough on the final mission. Long Knife, is it called? I really like your set ups and pay off and as i said before the campaign really works like a movie. The climax was definitely "Nicest". The camera angles for the conversation at "the house where Rose died" really adds to the tempo and tense situation. I liek the whole mountain corps settings and the characters feel so alive! I actually thought about my men more than anything else and felt really sad when one of them dies in battle. I think i reloaded a save everytime one died.... Its nice too that you had all the missions happen in far North Sahrani. There was a lot of cooperation between the RACS (in conversation, tactics and so on) especially in the defense of Masbete with the waves of SLA coming over the hills and then when everything was about to fail and i'm cowering in a barn giving my last salute... BOOM.... friendly artillery for the next 30 seconds. End of mission. Victory. I hope BIS could look into this campaign in detail. No need for a bajillion missions or acrobatic scripts... this one only had 10 mission or so and one artillery script but each mission lasted long and satisfying. Credits was nice... gave me a feeling that Bardosy's a very nice person lol. Great storyteller too. oh yeah i LOLed when the Tony Blair line came up. hahahahaah. Thanks a lot Bardosy for this awesome campaign. Hopefully it could be modified into a two-player campaign since its too good to be enjoyed alone. Regards.

i think, by default, pressing forward without 'shift' while crawling is equal to crawling fast in OFP. Pressing shift in ArmA slows down the crawl. Maybe you could see if that triggers the same response with the AI? From my experience, though, i found that walking tires out the player faster than jogging all the way across the world. After walking for ten seconds my player would be breathing heavily and the crosshair wont be tight anymore.

lol This was in 1.04 though.

Thanks a lot for everything Miss Avon. You were like the OFP mom to me... every big man needs a sweet mommy ya noe? Hope to see you around again. - loves... from the OFP community.

my fists shake in both anger and uncontrollable imagined delight. If only it could materialize soon enough.

my advice would be to get another gig of ram. 1 gig isnt really enough for any games these days...

Help! 1.04 Worked Flawless / 1.05 Problems Galore
BroK3n replied to shalati's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
one of the mods once said that the dxdiag thingy doesnt help them in idenitfying problems in the game or sth along those lines. anyways lots of Vista + dual core + 8800 card users have had the same problems as you. Searching the forums first may help. -
Has anyone got Kegetys's SoftTH to work? Everytime i start ArmA it loads up into my main monitor as per normal. Switching to triplehead in the options doesnt work as well. btw i only have two monitors and one gfx card but would like to have the game expand to the second monitor.

I was wondering if there were any clans located in south-east asia. Since im located in sunny Singapore its not nice to play with US or European clans (even if they were international) and bring the team down because of 'LLLAAAGGGGG'....

not to mention when the NVG are on. But seems to be better with the desaturated NVG look in 1.05. For now its abt practicising and muscle memory.

Im alreayd a few missions in (the one abt the chemical factory) and ive never had this much fun with Arma on SP. I like the dialogues immensely. It's really entertaining. but watch out... some parts make the RAC guys seem a little fruity... Missions are pretty much well set up. It's as if there are all the elements of a film script; set-ups, pay offs, act 1, act 2, twist, act 3 and so on.... So far, it's been bug-free too. A huge plus. Thanks to the campaign maker for this! I'll be passing them on to my friends to enjoy.

Dsly.... ... i love you. Bringer of good news. keep em coming!

I'm not sure if this is widely known.. but i've learned of a way to flush out the system's memory using a command line. Basically you create a new shortcut and insert this in the target line: %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks It shld look sth like this. Click on OK and rename the shortcut to sth like "Clear memory". I did this after not being so happy that alt-tabbing after a few times would not do anything to the texture loss. After clicking on this (alt-tabbed to desktop first) i found that my fps improved much higher than just alt-tabbing. .. but after a while you gotta click on it again to flush the memory when the game starts to act up. Not sure if it'll work on most people but just throwing it out there.

ahahaahah this reminds me of a time in Obregon when we blowed up the bridge in MP. I was driving a UAZ and the person next to me wanted me to drive off the broken bridge. So i backed up a little, went full speed ahead and the UAZ smashed into the opposite bridge column. The car didnt explode though, dropped like a rock and we came out at the bottom of the bridge without a scratch. btw it seems to me that the Littlebirds never explode after freefalling from the sky... but i like the fact that spinning propellers can hurt you.

I dont know much... but i think many of these physics problem is CPU related. Like someone said that the AI will screw up depending on how the CPU is doing. Maybe its the same with the physics? I've never had any of those flying-tanks problems at all. Perhaps maybe one or two but its always when i',m sort of forcing the tanks into a bustop or a tight corner. The common physics bug i get is when the turret pushes against a building and the tank flie a few metres away and wobbles like a ship.

.... heh? I think the recoil is fine in this game, albeit a bit too "floaty" on ironsights. But IRL when i fire an M16 the gun goes to the left. Maybe its just me. btw I find the M4 aimpoint sight a chore to use and prefer the regular W ironsights.

The two vertical bars shows the accuracy, stability and status of your player. Say after a long sprint you'd see the bars move further apart and your accuracy declines when shooting from the hip. If we only had the pin i think some people would complain on why their shots arent going where it should.

You know.. i think you're not a bad guy after all. lol. Anyways can we stop with the "Go play BF2/UT/Q/arcadeshooters" thing already? its becoming more of a Mac-and-Apple elitist nuisance already.
