Why do distant soldier animations jerk?
BroK3n replied to johnny vet boy b's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
This jerking.. or in other words, warping.. happens at greater distances. it's very much more apparent after 1km. Onyl after the view distance bug was fixed (partly) did i notice this warping. After all the joy and celebrations of snipers finally being able to engage at real life distances, this warping kills it all. it happens in both MP and SP. Not sure how it could be fixed though but maybe the value or LOD distance or sth sth sth could be changed to about 2-3km. Definitely would have an impact on performance though especially with many units moving around. -
Aye... reply BRAVO 6 already!

Another way you could capture what's on screen is by out-putting the image via S-video cable frm ur gfx card to a DV camera. I'm not sure if this will apply to all DV cameras but i had to play at 1024x768 resolution in order to not have clipping on the tape. Not sure if this would be the same on a HDV camera though. Remember that whatever is ocming into the camera now is only video. You'll need to hook up an audio track to the camera as well. How i'd do it is by running a cable from my audio card, convert it to and RCA head so that it could feed into the camera. There are other ways like using two computers and a firewire but i havent tried that. Good luck in your journey! I myself am a film student. The subject and technology is interestingly mind-boggling.

Dynamic sound ambience help needed
BroK3n replied to Balschoiw's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Nice one Blaschoiw. I was wondering why Arma didnt give me that feeling OFP or ECP gave and i think this might be the thing to fill the gap. Go for it. -

sorry about that. I was misinformed.. i probably meant Metaboli. -
yawnz. A game like this needs a scoring system. Even our Yahoo little kiddy games have a point system. It's part of being called a GAME. So keep it in. It just needs some improvements.

Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop
BroK3n replied to KilJoy -SFG-'s topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
As long as its credited to Kiljoy, its should be fine. That's how artistes do with their songs or films etc etc. It's like a nod to that person. If Ice's modded evo mission is named as such, i dont see why we should call him a scumbag. btw i just saw Evolution v1.5d on a server a couple of hours ago. -

Well you gotta admit that they have better support than Morphicon or the other sites selling Arma via digitial download. -
There's a head bob? I thought Arma's heads were always locked to some invisible horizon. :S Maybe the loose crosshair that moves about your screen is what you're talking about?

Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop
BroK3n replied to KilJoy -SFG-'s topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
So there is no Evolution 1.5b? oh my i've been playing an imitation! btw Killjoy is there a place that we can download the map? I cant seem to find it anywhere but the servers have new versions up very quickly. -
No problems with 1.07 so far. The usual LOD bug issue has made some progression somewhat. At least now when it happens i can still pay the game. It isnt as serious as before. Judging by the activity in the forums i'd say Arma's on an acceptable playable level now. Now's the time for the nitpickers and 8800 owners to shine. You're heading to the correct direction, BIS!

Aye, it works! Thanks a lot man! Seems like the problem was my server being a private one. I'm loving this lol. Loving it so much i had some fun going into all the vehicles in the game seeing my country's flag appearing on them. Went camwhoring too... Here's the arm patch. If i'd known pre-1.06 that there will be arm patches i wouldnt have added the rust effect. (cant see it can ya?) I find that Arma tends to increase the saturation of its texture files too. yee haw! Many, many, MANY thanks for your help Sirex! You made the night happy for me. P.s. Btw, what if i wanted to change my paa file the next time? Do i have to go through you again or ..?
-
Aye so that's the problem... a private web server. I've rar'ed all the dtd and xml and paa files and sent them to you Sirex. Hope you could help host it on your server. Thanks!
-
I've just gotta come back to this thread. I'm still getting the paa error. The XML is working fine though thanks to Sirex. My XML is here, if you wanna take a look at it. Sly's XML I've tried saving the paa file over and over again, making sure Texview is able to read it.... opened up the original TGA file, saved it to Paa via Textview.. still get that error. Is it a file size error? Regarding the armpatch.. yea.. after 1.06 the squad logo appears on the troop. ... well.... supposed to appear, in my case. Â

You might not need an overhaul of your machine... but my opinion is that you'd need at least a 7600GT gfx card and 1gb of ram. Try ta get a high-speed ram if you could as well. Helps alot in the performance. A 7950 gfx and 2gb of ram, however, would be better. Not sure if i'd recommend an 8000 series yet.

You cant shoot for nuts but you can make such a useful set up. The world is so unfair! Thanks for the mission. It'll definitely come in handy.
-
Mr Tea is correct. Vilas, with your extensive library of your own addons, that's gonna cause a few problems with new patches since they werent made for future patches. Try taking out all the addons you have and see if that bug is still there. It shouldnt be.

No smoke from the guns? Are you sure? Last time i checked on the ground there were little puffs of smoke from the 30mm when it's fired. Like someone said before.. yes, a one second shot can knock out a tank. I was surprised that it could do that then someone said they were 30mm rounds. Ouch.

Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop
BroK3n replied to KilJoy -SFG-'s topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
yea... go to the recruitment hut and u'll find the options to change VD and the terrain detail there. You can even spectate other people in there too. No more reason to complain of anyone not replying when you ask them, "Where you guys fighting?" btw i noticed that some very nice exploits have been mentioned here. Do you think thats a good idea? -
Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop
BroK3n replied to KilJoy -SFG-'s topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
you dont say. Nowadays it's like 20 out of 25 servers are playing some version of evolution. China servers seem to be stuck at version 1.2 though. Maybe after this map has been perfected we can await the next big thing.... hopefully it doesnt take long. -
Nah i cant. But i did find one called "PCI latency timer" and had the same values as the AGP ones that were mentioned. Changed it to half my VRAM (to 128) and Arma is running at 70FPS, max, 30fps in bushes. Granted, the LOD bug is still there but it doesnt take much of a performance hit now. It doesnt drop to 8fps like i had yesterday.

Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop
BroK3n replied to KilJoy -SFG-'s topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
err i think.. on my side... the missions are much more buggy than pre-1.5 evolution. Its pretty common that i get no waypoints after choosing a mission. btw. Kiljoy could we either cut out or minimize the possibilities of having a 10-point mission to take place in the northern coast? It's kinda far away and troublesome to travel by boat etc etc. -
My mobo's a PCI-E one and there are no AGP slots for the gfx card. However there is that AGP aperture setting thing in the bios. I find this conflicting with the "only if you have an AGP card would this work" thing. Could someone explain?

@ArmaVidz You probably bought the Atari 1.04 version that was released in Asia. That's how it is when it came to Singapore... Atari's "Arma: Armed Assault", v1.04.
