Nope. Thanks for noticing, though. Boring Thursdays no more! So... what's the server address (wrong one on the page unless the server is down or OFPWatch fails to detect it) and which mod is featured ATM? Hopefully you get missions back... I think I still have "few" so if you need something... contact me on MSN.

can BIS work with Llauma heads
BlackScorpion replied to Halochief89's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Well... run OFP normally and let the Llauma units have their own faces (using the Facestex stuff via their own scripts). It works but might look a tad out-of-place sometimes. -
Real Life Photography/Photo Editing II - NO IMAGES >100kb

Tried this tutorial (was posted here a while back), but thanks to my old/limited version, couldn't do it. So... I started experimenting with stuff. An older pic of mine, re-edited with the tricks I learned. Decided to have a go with the famous D-Day pic showing Gen. Eisenhower and members of 101st Airborne Div. Original picture is by US Army and public domain. If it's against the rules (the editing is my work, but I didn't live in '44 so...), feel free to remove it. Also went to Lentäjien Juhannus (Pilot's Midsummer)... still gotta extract the pics (a whopping 600 of them... with kit lense! and well, edit the ones I find suitable and prolly delete a heck of a lot. -
ArmA Addon request thread
BlackScorpion replied to raedor's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I guess an IED wouldn't be hard to do... merely make some sorta IED model (Coke can, "Jerry" fuel can, 155mm shell) and code it as a satchel. Making IED-proof vehicles... not sure about how ArmA handles it. There was a "mineproof" Cobra (no, not the chopper) for OFP, but in the other hand, it could (almost) withstand a direct 120mm APFSDS hit. Oh and RG-31 isn't a Humvee variant. It's a mineproof vehicle based on the South African Mamba (basically, updated one) which in turn is based on Mercedes-Benz Unimog. Still would love to see the thing, though, it's quite widely used; quick calculation gives rougly 1000-1500 Mambas in different versions (incl. RG-31) manufactured. -
Most modern tanks use mainly APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot) rounds nowadays, which are basically arrows, few kg metallic ones. Due to the lenght-diameter ratio of the projectile rifling would provide little or no advantage, and thus isn't used. Brits use mainly HESH rounds IIRC so they still got the rifled gun. Dunno how rifling affects velocity if the stabilizing effect is not considered, after all it somewhat provides a way for the gasses to escape. Not that much, though, it's mainly to prevent the round from tumbling. As far as I know Russian tanks are somewhat small. While lacking the uranium plates Abrams has, T-90 still has the ERA which apparently has somewhat a Chobham/layer effect and is, to some extent, effective against both kinetic and explosive rounds. Hard to tell when they haven't been put into combat with equally trained crews.

My friend, a professional illustrator btw, uses a Tamron f/3.5 28-300mm... "Works well for the price." Cheers for the help, now I just need some money. 150 euros for lense, 2-way train travel and a ticket to the show... -

So many pics to comment and so little time... I'm going to an airshow in Friday, most propably. But the problem, sort of, is that I only got the kit lense (18-55mm) for me EOS 400D! So... fast suggestions on good, fairly cheap zoom lenses (right?) would be appreciated. As said, camera is 400D. This shop is the one I'll be most likely using, since it has the shop near me and it's fairly cheap. Sorry about the list being in Finnish, but I guess it doesn't matter since all the lenses are listed with their main properties, I suppose. The ones that have the blue texts "Myös Helsingin ja Pirkkalan myymälän hyllyssä" or "Myös Pirkkalan myymälän hyllyssä" under their description are available at the shop near me. Help appreciated... -
SAS - Special Air Service Pack

http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Little-known_Facts_about_the_SAS And back to business... nice units. Ooooh bad time for... well, anyone else once they get running in my ArmA. -
FDF... 1.4 release also has WWII units. Finnish and Soviet, and a Lapland war mod (afaik will work side-by-side with FDF) that'll add German units.

Atleast he doesn't have to do this job.

Isn't one OFP basic cell 50m? Just... hard to imagine that Tonal is merely half bigger than Nogova.

F-15s. F-18s have fairly boxy wing, and the intakes are hidden under the long, helpful things that's name I forgot. Yeah, no carriers there I guess, but try checking other US Navy installations. San Diago has some nice stuff. Oh and it's Google. You're referring to "Goggle" most of the time.

Hmmmm, an oldie question. Well. Use the "addweapon" and "addmagazine" commands for the soldier itself, and "addweaponcargo" and "addmagazinecargo" for vehicles and ammo crates. For i.e. adding a machine gunner M16, 5 mags and 1 grenade. Place mags before the gun so that they're loaded at the beginning. "Removeallweapons" (removes everything: mags, binos, NVGs, weapons), "removeweapon" (removes the certain weapon), "removemagazine" (removes a certain type of mag) and "removemagazines" (same as before, but removes all the mags with the classname) aren't necesserily needed, depending on the default loadout of the unit. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">removeallweapons this; this addmagazine "M16"; this addmagazine "M16"; this addmagazine "M16"; this addmagazine "M16"; this addmagazine "M16"; this addweapon "M16";; this addmagazine "handgrenade" Same, but for an ammo crate/vehicle. 10x amounts <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">this addmagazinecargo ["M16", 50]; this addweaponcargo ["M16", 10]; this addmagazinecargo ["Handgrenade", 10] For different classname, either try by trial and error (not recommended) or check community Biki and addon readmes for weapon/magazine classnames.

Well, let's just say that the thing doesn't even have crosshairs (use irons unless in CQC or you know where you're pointing... just like in OFP ) and no ammo counter, except for the tanks. Switchable barrels for MaschinenGewehrs, and you can support most if not all guns against surfases like ground, sandbags and window frames. Stamina, big recoil, tanks driven by keyboard (you adjust the gas pedal... you don't just "push it"). Rangeable tank optics, (fairly) realistic hit effects, in-built comms...
-
Ah, seen that one before, but not here. "Surprise"!
-
Where is that? I've been missing some WGL action since Zeus quit their OFP branch.

I think the standard grid size is 128x128 metres, since the standard island size is 12,8 km. Another, "secret" trick is to go into map mode in the game, hold down Shift+Alt (or Ctrl, try the combos if the 1st doesn't work) and click on a place with left mouse button, and then click on the other spot. You'll get the distance in meters showing in a white text. Only tested in FDF as of yet, but might be an in-built feature, dunno.
-
So... what addons does the ACP server use?
-
Yeah, but if you hit, might only just take 1 shell. Plus it's reloadable, seems to be fairly accurate, far reaching and effective. Apart from the recoil, I guess it's about as effective as a Carl Gustav. Maybe more effective. Plus you could always just mount that on a jeep or something. They used LAWs to shoot technicals in BHD, didn't they?
-
Well, if he's German (or Austrian or Swiss) and only asking about the addons, it doesn't matter. But yeah, patch the game up to atleast 1.05. Will ease up the patching and compatibility.

AR-15 aren't piston action based, that might have something to do with it. Atleast there are some Russian assault rifles specially made to fire submerged, and there was a Glock (I think) that was able to reliably fire when submerged. It's rather dangerous to fire underwater, though, since the bullet will counter much, much more drag when going through an actual fluid instead of air. This'll lead into more stress on the gun (since the gases can't expand rapidly enough), which might damage it. That is, if the gun will fire at all, due to slowdown on the moving parts. At about 30-35 degrees angle, a .50 BMG bullet will break apart about a feet or 2 after entering the water. Same goes for most medium-caliber high-speed projectile guns, the slowdown is quite huge.

17 now, played since 2003 (bought during midsummer - got a new PC to run it around November). Still playing, especially MP. About 15 gigs or more of addons. Never played CS.

climatic changes, what do you think about that?
BlackScorpion replied to Sennacherib's topic in OFFTOPIC
Well, dunno about the rapidly part (fairly fast AFAIK, though), but it is changing. It does that in cycles of about 20k years IIRC, it has been studied by examinating ground layers and how certain magnetic particles are arranged in each layer. Welcome, skin cancer. Auroras in London, anyone? I got burnt today... never got a sunburn at these longitudes ever before. And well, I never use any sun cover lotions. -

BlackScorpion replied to Sennacherib's topic in OFFTOPIC
Well... we did have a nice winter... short, actually 2 parts, but fairly nice. -40°C at best here... could be colder, though. Around 20-30°C here at the moment. And an UV-warning is in effect. I haven't seen clouds for 2 days now, and they say it's going to heat up. Not that I'm actually complaining about the weather itself, but... it does affect the average temperature and the nature.
