I actually recall flying with a mate of mine - we went up, had a round or two around our beloved marble ball and then decided to land the thing. Well... managing to even do a re-entry took a while. Once we did it and flew a bit very high in the atmosphere, we realized we're doing thousands of kilometers per hour. OK, fine... we decided to head for Cape Canaveral - which happened to be closer if we'd fly the other way. Meh, no turns! So... there we were, flying with the engines on... he thought we were going too fast at few points, so couple of times we fired retros. Anyways, we weren't. After flying probably over 3/4th of Earth's diameter, we were forced to (crash)land out beloved craft merely 40 kilometers off CC.

Source: BBC News A great loss... in my (humble) opinion he was one of the greatest men who lived in the 20th century, and not just because of his fame due to Mount Everest. Requiescat in pace, Sir. (Could someone correct his name with capital first letters in the heading?)

Now that we got into simulation side... space, fighting and simulation just don't go well together. Lightsabers - they'd vaporize everything in a 5m radius in real life. Without dampers flying fighter style at space speeds would make you into meatloaf due to the G-forces - assuming you can get powerful enough engines to divert the flight path (seeing as there's no drag to counter the motion in space). Now, I know you didn't ask for it but if you wanna try something VERY different... Orbiter. Docking a Space Shuttle into ISS is interesting to say atleast, especially if you haven't read the manual.

Mark, you should know that's a wussy cartridge. Great job - will love to get to use this once I get my ArmA in a playable condition. What kind of optics are you going to fit on it? (the basic FDF mod scope in OFP is kinda... annoying in some cases) Any other Finnish/less used stuff following? AMP DSR-1 would be 'nice'... hahaa great work dude, love to get one of our best products represented in rather suberb quality!
-
When it comes to OFP I believe that's called "config editing".

Friggin' hilarious... Stormtrooper effect, anyone? Can't wait to see this implemented, not just in LucasArt stuff but generally, too... looks gorgeous, and should bring a whole new element to most stuff... just imagine doing a SF raid through a wall in i.e. a hotel!

Sorry I haven't written here... PC not capable of running ArmA so haven't followed the discussion. First - great job, as usual. You just never stop, and along with ArmA the stuff looks great, too! As for Galils/Rk's. - "Used by Colombia, Estonia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Portugal (used only by Airborne units), Tonga" - Wiki Galil entry. Estonian army uses it as their main assault rifle. The South African R4 along with its variants is used mainly by SA but apparently also by Haitians. As for Valmet, the customers seem to be rather limited - Finland, Qatar and Indonesia. They did manufacture quite a few versions of the M62/M76 rifles, in at least both 7.62 and 5.56 caliber versions, and with folding stocks. Wiki, again, states 8 variants; not sure which to be exact. As for the WWII units - are the 82nd AB representing late '44 - '45 units as they seem to field the M43 clothing system instead of the M42 uniform? If you make paras in M42 uniform, well, uhhh... I got a reproduction version, which as far as I know is very close to the original uniforms. "Khaki" (OD #3) cotton with dark green extra layers on the joints, and on the side of the pockets. My set "only" consists of the jacket, trousers and boots. If you need any help, I can see if I can get good photographs.

I believe she has no troubles with that. Oh, and I shall remind you to watch the safety instructions, too! In case you want to stay alive... Merry X-mas.

Most programs allow you to create HDRs from a single RAW file, sometimes from a single JPEG (rarely though). Tov... that program you linked me to is a pain in the ass to use. Should I read the instructions first? -

Stuck In Customs There's a tutorial... somewhere. -
Dunno about the sound, but Norfor mod has a nice G3. has atleast 3 or 4 versions. I think Swedish Forces Pack pack has few, also (AK4). Sudayev, where's that G3? Never noticed it, despite having fooled around with the pack "a bit".

Ummmmmm... the longest sniper kill before the Canadian sniper in Afghanistan (2500 meters or so) was made by an USMC sniper (Gunnery Sgt. Carlos Hathcock) in Vietnam. 2286 meters, confirmed. With an M2 that had a scope attached to it. Machine guns are very accurate, at least/especially when both well supported and well used (single shots or very short bursts).

Yeah if memory serves the TSF uses quite a few Ruskie weapons found in the S&E MAP. And TSF ride in their pimped T-55s.
-
Well, it of course depends. Predator can carry at least few Hellfires, and RQ-4 Global Hawk has an internal payload of 3000 pounds in the newer versions. Then again the thing is quite big, at least the size of a WWII fighter...

They've shown quite a few bits in news, and atleast few sites still feature the original bits. I can dig you a link if you want to see them. From what I've seen they're not gory but... "politically incorrect".

JUST in case anyone didn't notice... Nine people died at Jukola yesterday. High school head master, a school nurse and a total of 7 students, including the shooter. BBC USA Today Why does this touch me a bit more than maybe the average forum user? It happened less than 200 kilometers away from my home town. The gunman was merely 5 months older than I am, and also went to the same kind of school I go to. Apart from the 2 staff members, the victims were of my age, aged between 18 and 16. A total of 69 shots were fired, all by the shooter. The gun was a legally obtained SIG Mosquito, a .22LR variant of the famous P226. The shooter had rougly 500 rounds and was also equipped with Molotovs cocktails. The shooter has been described as an intelligent, highly educated but lonely and extremist young man.

Mapfact.net releases DAC
BlackScorpion replied to BadAss -Mapfact.net-'s topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Played atleast some BAS ones online (took ~30 mins), and maybe few FDF and WGL ones, atleast. So, yeah, there are missions using it. -
What do you mean? Just generally trying to use them in MP or a "friends" game with just Llauma units... I know that because I've got the problem (us both using Jonny's Mercs and mate complaining about fecked up head texture) few times.
-
Hawk variants up from the 60 series or so are more than capable to small-scale CAS. Oh and BAe as a whole... they make i.e. Bradleys and most of South Africa's stuff nowadays.

Anyone got any suggestions for an image editor? Got few pretty nice images lurking around, but PS Elements 2 just lacks few useful features, such as curve editing. Just brightness and contrast... doesn't give the right effect to the image. The Canon Digital Photo Professional (provided with the camera) seems to have it for RAW images, atleast, but well... it seems to be automatic. No, I haven't tried GIMP or new trial versions of Photoshop yet. Preferably, the "something" should be easy-to-use (not much harder than PS), and free. -
Apart from the fact that from every shot that the text that size is distinguishable... it's there.

NASA being a government organisation and many of their pilots being (ex-)USAF...

Well, you missed my point. I did realize it's an SA game. It's just that... if a single game adds 1 aircraft, no matter how perfectly made... with a normal price, sounds a bit harsh.
