Yeah, it's based on the low contrast between the colours. Fools human eyes. It works (atleast somewhat) better in real life, but I'd rather wear MARPAT or something similar (or even '81 WL) in an all-forest area. Rooney, those pics supposed to link somewhere (I'm having troubles linking, too, atm)? 200x200 pixels ain't the best resource you know... you can make out that they're US Army personnel and maybe what weapons they carry... that's just about it. You following me, Xawery? I just downloaded the demo few days ago... The demo does support 2-player I-net play btw, dunno if you can play with full versions with it, too. Yeah, quite fun... still need to get the hang of it, as my success rate ain't even 50% yet... still fun, in it's own way, to slaughter a continent. The simplified tutorial final ended up with USA (that's me) killing 92 million Asians... And oh, btw, the RF/USSR still has an ICBM defence ring around Moscow. Huge AA missiles basically, can't remember whether they used HE or nuclear warheads. And the hyped über-AA system S-400 is rumored to be somewhat able to intercept ICBMs, if memory serves.

As for reflection of objects, check you DxDll configuration. It has settings for how many objects and at how great range will be reflected. If not, might just be your settings. Due to my PC being not in the highest-end class, I usually turn reflections off, 'cos with my settings it gives me almost 10-20 fps more... -
My pocket digi (which isn't... that compact) is still OK after few years of use, being carried in pocket and such... then again there was nothing to scratch it, actually. Always firmly against some canvas surface... most of the time.

Old fighterbomber's trick is to drop the bombs when the target is right about where the nose of your aircraft is (once you can't see it)... doesn't work that well in OFP and modern HUD jets though, so you might want to practise a tad. Excellent stuff, need to find some time to try this baby out. Sounds amazing.

I'm most propably missing your point there (2 am, neither are born English speakers...), but... switching between the head models ain't that easy. To go from BIS head model to Llaumas head model you need to switch the head model in the .p3d file, set the "fset1" and "fset2" selections into the model and save it. Then, you need to put few lines into the config so that OFP knows to run the Facestex scripts and not try and apply the normal faces. To revert from Llaumas head to the original head, it's vice versa: same thing but in the other direction. And my point about SafetyCatches Marines, just to clear it out. The MARPAT is good, no doubt of that, but I still think that SafetyCatches is better, even though it might be a tad unrealistic due to darker tones. I'll use these Marines when I want to have units with Llaumas head, and use my own custom head textures, but when it's just combat or MP, I prefer the SafetyCatch units. Sorry. And .COMmunist. To use custom face textures on these, they need to be of Llaumas head model mapping and in a .pbo. The, just like in OFP, you use the "setface" command, and put the classname of the face in it, just like normally. So i.e. when using HYKs BIS faces, it's "HYK_BIS1" (or 01; check the readme), depending on what face you want. But, instead of putting it in the units init field, you need to use a trigger that gets activated right after the mission start to overcome the Facestex scripts; a delay of about half a second should be enough. Just make sure the trigger gets activated. Dunno about using the init.sqs, since I think the scripts at the start of the game would overrun it, resulting nothing different. -

The trigger works if it gets activated. Some "is present" type trigger (or, radio activation) with a tenth of a sec delay ought to do it, if the command is right.

Wow, that's wicked... long exposure? 10s? 30s? Couple I took... 1/40s exposure, kit lense, zero temperature, hand held camera and bangs all around ain't the best combo.

SJB Handguns pack (can't remember which part), which predates the big pack, has 1 or 2 revolvers methinks, atleast the Anaconda. Not quite as up-to-date as his newest, but basically same stuff and should be enough. Another one is Kegetys S&W revolvers, which has atleat 3 Smith&Wesson models. And finally, FML (Farmlands mod) weapons pack. Has a 20 or 40 mm (well, bloody big anyways) "revolver", which will quite surely kill everything you'll ever meet on this planet... well, the biggest whales might require the whole 3-shot drum.

Hehee... nice. The texture looks alot smoother (and realistic) now. Still... even though Ikar's F-14 has the nice features (such as the HUD), Footmunch's F-14 ( ) has a better model methinks. Thought about retexturing that thing?

Great units, I won't disagree with that. Best damn US Army units available, and the Marines aren't bad either (although I still prefer Safetycatches Marines when Llauma's head not needed). Nor the OPFOR. But am I the only one who's bothered with the textures' "sharpness"? If you compare them to i.e. Lasers units (inc. RHS), or the FP units, you'll notice that they're alot "softer". Not so sharp shadows and alike. I don't own a 3-col desert uniform, or any military uniform as of that matter, but still. What do you guys think? -
Guess you can set the server default (BIS default is 900) somewhere (refer to i.e. Avon Lady's FAQ here). but a simple, quick solution is just to put a trigger in the map that's activated somehow, and the to the "On activation" field, type <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">set viewdistance 1500, replacing the 1500 with the distance you want in meters. Might be wrong, it might be "setviewdistance -number-", but I suggest that you try, search and... wait for answers.

They can... by editing the config, or the description.ext in the mission folder, or by grouping them with a non-existant East side team leader (just put a Ruskie soldier, set him to Major and set his propability of presence to 0%). *eats carrot* Eeeeh... what's up, Doc? A little? All are above 100 kB... you trying to kill Placebo just as he leaves? Nice idea though... weapons can be found from LSR's pack methinks, but the units themselves... similar have been released (for the sniper dudes in the 3rd pic... check Jonny's SF pack), but the more, the merrier! -
Nothing is impossible. Make the texture (knowing the mapping helps quite alot), either save it as .jpg and use it or save it as .tga and convert it to .pac or .paa (recommended due to OFP engine texture handling). Un-pbo the file, put the textures in, get a program (can't remember what) to apply the textures on the 3D model and .pbo the thing again. Slap the new .pbo into your addon folder and vóila. MS Paint? Happy retexturing... Photoshop or PaintShop Pro is recommended, or the tad messy, but powerful and free GIMP. That said, I think I'll go and check whether the addon actually has textures for the webbing. Doubt that I'll make them myself if not (yes I do have Photoshop Elements), but atleast you'll know how to fix it.

Warrior X, any Vietcong (or any hostile Vietnamise, in that matter) in those pics? If not, I spotted the 3rd fella (2nd SOG) in both pics in about 5-10 secs. Well, faster in the latter.

Yeah, ORCS labels their addons ICP (don't know the reason, but...). Their newest weapon pack, 4.0, is 11 MB; I initially had the same Makarov problem when playing around with their Mot.Inf. 3.0 for the first time. The I checked my addons and noticed I had the wrong weapons pack version. These addons can use these face texture addons: DMA_facestex1 (required; propably labelled '1' because they don't have an addon using the Llauma's head v1), Facestex2, HYK_BISFace (included in newest HYK Modern US Inf. pack). As I noted, and then noted again, the vests (the things you carry your ammo, grenades, water and other stuff around) need textures. They're all white now. Also, not sure, how about some non-hidden (no shemagh) insurgents? Only 1 atm, they could serve as counter-insurgent guys (like... US-positive militia).

In OFP it was kph I think, doubt they'd have it changed for ArmA? As for converting... 1 mile = 1.609 km 1 knot = 1.853 km (1.8-1.9 anyways)

Works fine for me. The "blurry face" thingy is gone now, too. Dunno if it was just the game or them not having the DMA facestex "under" the new texture. Charliegrs, sounds like the game doesn't detect the DMA_facestex1 .pbo, or your missing it (don't have it or not loaded). Another reason might be that the game is trying to apply a face that doesn't exist, thus reverting back to the default BIS face. No error message or anything? Oh, and Rebl Man... I've got no textures for the insurgent vests/webbing. Known bug or am I possibly missing something?

Think the tool Kegetys released already few weeks ago ought to handle it? Haven't tested i.e. WinPBO yet, though.

Hell, that sounds quite familiar. As I admitted in the demo thread based on my experience, the choppers are quite tricky to fly, atleast the ligter sort (UH-60 compared to Mi-8), but it has it's... fun stuff. And as for the wires (sweet pic btw, Koala), gonna check that too. Now, I'll try landing an UH-60 on a bridge whilst running at 3 fps...
