    The Iraq thread 4

Bowery's war against insurgency tip: Another point I'd like to make is, you don't conduct security operations throughout a country where the men don't like you. Â Throwing scattered targets at them on their turf makes things easy for them. Â In essence we become the small pockets of resistance. Â Those embassies and governing areas need to be set up as strongholds to lure the enemy to one position and then you set up a quick strike force nearby. Â It's not like they can send a jet bomber in and blow up the place in one shot, so concentrate the enemy into your one position. Â It's like setting out a cake and letting the ants come to eat, then spraying the bunch with bug killer. Â One good shot. Â That's why I've always wanted to go into the military, man. Â I'm smart like that. Â These generals with all their damned schooling don't know sh*t. Â There they go scattering their troops throughout the hot zone to stay for the night conducting security keeping the peace. Â What the hell do they think the insurgents are trying to attack, innocent old women? Â NO! Â They're trying to attack the soldiers. Â There's no sense in playing peacekeeper, war is still going on. Â Bush doesn't get it though. Â What a dumbass. Â Those insurgents are probably looking out their apartment building collecting intelligence on everything these soldiers do every day, with their little rpg and bomb rig on the kitchen table. Â Then when its time to commit their act of martyrdom, they can't lose. Â With troops still on the ground and Saddam out of power, Iraqi citizens probably get the idea that they're country is going to turn into a police state, and that what they see is how life is going to be forevre unless they change it. Â That's what I'd think. Â War is ovre and the troops didn't withdrawl? Â Hell yeah I'd be pissed. Â We wanted to give them freedom, they wanted the troops out of there after the war, no occupation they said, and the troops ain't leaving, then you get insurgency. Â It would be much better to not withdrawl totally, but to withdrawl the troops to a marine security garrison at each embassy and sending the rest home. Â This would ease the expansion in U.S. forces worldwide and make alot of boys happy to come home. Â Bush isn't as smart as me though and the majority don't know how good of a president I'd make so we're F*CKED!

    War against terror

That's why you fight a war on terror with your special forces and not conventional troops. It's hard as hell to infiltrate special forces.

Doesn't anyone see that Al Jazeera people who run that station need to be put under war trial? Honestly. They are helping to support terrorists by airing those tapes. If those tapes aren't aired, the kidnappings go in vain.

About that mvd addon, It was the latest one, and the more recent ...well the soldiers from this thread. I was trying to load a mission and it said something about requiring other addons that didn't come with both this and that MVD addon. I was hoping everything would be self contained the next time through.

    A campaign in Tonal

The second one and the one you briefly mentioned sound very fun. Â I think you'll have a hard time finding addons for the one you briefly mentioned though. Â There are only two special forces units out right now that you could say are finished, Rangers and Deltas. Â That means behiind the lines mission or anti terrorist one. Â Now...that Tonal conflict sounds nice. Â It'd definitely be a challenge to think of an end to the conflict but if it were me I'd probably be the type of guy to make it be about finding the one man who can prove what happened and secure the innocence of America. Â He's a villager. Â The village is behind enemy lines and the Rangers have to go in deep to find the villager. Â Thats what I'd do. Â I'd make a series of missions involving danger trying at finding the villager, perhaps one fruitful mission where you actually do find out where he is and you actually do find him and prepare to move out. Â Then the evasion sux and you get captured and thrown in prison as a conclusion but seperated in different cells. Â He's due for execution in a few days since he's mistaken for a rebel so you have to bust out in time to form an attack plan and get him out too. Then for the ending, I'd mimic the Chuck Norris movie "Missing in Action" where you bust into a courtroom with your guy who has the proof of the situation. So in conclusion you, as a Ranger, go in deep behind enemy lines to the same village of the conflict to find and make contact with the indiginous population finding out who saw what happened, ask them if they'd like to join you in testifying, the guy who was there, the lone survivor, isn't there, you find out where he might be, but he's not there. Â You find out where he works, he's not there. Â One day he returns from hiding into the village you been camping in, you talk to him, he agrees to testify, you prepare to move out, things go wrong you all get caught. Â Your team escapes from jail, promising to get him out before his execution date. Â You return with a major force, its the climax of the campaign, you suceed and bring him back. Â You bring him into the courtroom and prove Americas innocence with his testimony. Â It's both realistic and entertaining.

Please next time release a self contained addon so that all the required addons for it to work are included. If you find this a message then I'm referring to the ORCS MVD and I apologize but if I'm correct then yeah.

I like how Secretary of State Colin Powell is handling public relations. Â I think that the next thing they should do is give a speach at the indoctrine of the first president. Â I think Bush himself should give that speach on why he attacked, and what good it did. Â Not in person of course, unless he wants an RPG up his @$$.

What type of mission do you want made?

I'd like to add that the missions I like playing have characters. Â Not necessarily on the good team, but involved in the story such as Guba and Angelina for instance. Â I like mentioning a character in my briefings for that story feel. Â When its balanced out just right to where the support still doesn't ruin the challenge, its a good mission. Â I saw this one guy on a U.S. Army Ranger website and thought man that guy looks awesome, why not put him in the briefing and make a character out of him. Â Â You can just look at this guy and envision him in some camp like, "You got it sir, we'll be in and out of there before they can say....blah blah blah". Â He's been on a combat mission before behind enemy lines and I think you don't have to ask to know that. Â I could be wrong though, he could have lost it in some kind of french fry toss at McDonalds or something, I don't know. Â You can read about him here if you want to. You can even email him. His name is Steve Maguire.

    AfganEveron

I have a question. Â Do you have ANY enterable buildings on the map? Â At least some "walled communities" I hear so much a bout and see very often on actual footage from news and mail call. Â It's a good thing that I told you before its done, eh? Â You know, they say Afghanistan is every inch a fighting position.

I am having the exact same problem johnstyles. Â That's another story though... Â I like the light strike vehicle they made. Â It'd be good to escape from a chinese jail and have that thing chase you down, only one with an mg on top.

    New SOC Mission Thread

How's this for an idea?> Â "The North Korea connection" Â It'd be about China assisting North Korea nuclear ambitions or something. Maybe it'd take special forces into an island near china and owned by them called kinmen who wants to become independent or something.

Whats these soldiers primary role in real life, or where can i learn about the many units in the russian military in the english language?
  20. When did you last feel excited in a mission? Â I'll start. Â In the mission I am still working on for Laser, I get excited every time I play it because of those sounds, the surprises, the sounds, the reality of war and the dust, the nice intro. All that together excites me.

Help me with my AI project!! :)

First comes the objective. The ai's primary role is to accomplish the objective which I'm sure you can program easily, for instance if its make a touchdown. Next, he has to be programmed with a set of tactics for each possibility that may stand in his way. If then statements. You can even use these on which plays to choose. Maybe endow him with an observation system that will constantly change tactics based upon the very rapidly changing nature of the football game. That's just from a player's point of view.

    War against terror

Â If I were at the meeting table and a representative of your nation or people told me something like that, Miles Teg, I'd be like, "Dang, and he's not even a terrorist." Â The reason part of this war on terror is dragging into these enemy countries with nukes is because of the fact that, they're just now learning about nukes, soon they could become so advanced about them that they could be very dangerous people. Â Can we really trust them if they get as advanced as being able to compact a nuclear effect bomb inside of a suitcase is the question. Â The answer to that is a worldwide nuclear treaty. Â Back it up with a little old fashioned get down or lay down but make the treaty extremely fair. Â Make the treaty say, if you're going to own nukes, then theres going to be a way to use them, and thats last minute defence. Â Also, any country that does blah blah blah may not own nukes under this treaty. Â If a country defies the treaty he is up for invasion or attack, no compromises. Â Get all your nuclear countries to sign the treaty and boom you get a nuclear treaty. Â Why hasn't anyone thought of this? If the treaty benefits all parties, of course they'll sign it. You just got to present it to them like its going to benefit them personally so they feel special.

    Idea poll: mission editors directory

Dude, its not about money at all in gaming. It'd just be cool if mission editors could register themself to a website where their email would be on a link to their name, and people could contact them instead of the other way around.
