Lol, this reminds of the good old OFP days where we were using M2 machineguns to create explosions. Can you take a smaller solid object? Like telephone or radio... What happens? No explosion at all?
-
What do you mean running or sprinting? I set "walk or run temporally" on the right shift key When I push the up arrow I run, with the right shift + up arrow together I walk. You only have to assign the right shift, not right shift + up arrow.

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=70;t=58052 It contains invisble targets and much more.

Actually in Arma 1.05 you can combine the Right shift key with any other key. And I use the same 2 keys to lean and roll, because you can't roll when crouched and standing up and you can't lean when you're lying down.

Have you tried the invisible targets from the MAPfact_misc addon yet?

Did you know that a "choppername flyinheight 1" command followed by a MOVE waypoint keeps them on the ground with engines on? That works in OFP too, but choppers got damaged because the really want to reach that waypoint. In Arma the pilot don't try to fly at that height, so he stays on the ground like a brick. Very usefull for ectractions.

CPU E6600 @ 2.40GHz]E6600@2.40GHz 2GB RAM 800Mhz, Radeon X1950XTX 512Mb DDR4 and I run it almost with the settiings mr.g-c recommended. Terrain detail normal, object detail high, shading detail high, Post-process low, AF normal, shadows normal, AA low, blood high, hardware accelaration off, EAX off. I had better performance with 1.02 (almost everything on high & very high) but I don't really care about beautiful graphics. I'm glad lots of thing are improved with 1.05, I understand these things need resources. I'm playing games for more then 20 years now and I've seen everything. Super graphics are nice for 1 week, after that I want replayability & freedom. Yes, but I have an onboard soundcard (realtek HD) and EAX kills my framerate...

Holy sh*t, I gain about 10fps THX! Glad to hear that i'm not the only one where it works. I also told my brother a few hours ago, just wait if they also get such a performance-boost! Anyway, have you tried to set the Post-Processing to low? For me that gave me another "feelable" boost! Regards, Christian A "feelable" boost is an understatement. EAX was a killer, but post-processing was a massmurderer. It gave me more then 10fps and it looks even better now. I have 40-50fps even with photoshop running in the background, Lovely.

I've found a funny bug in that mission. When the first base was ours a cutscene started where they raise the flag but suddenly a BMP-2 drove up a road and killed all the guys.(actors) The cutscene never ends.

Another good aspect of the 1.05 patch: I thought it was my imagination but after 2 days of testing I'm sure. AI can miss. They don't kill you anymore in a blink of an eye. Maybe it's because hiding in the grass really works now. In the blood, sweat & tears" mission they even shoot at places where I was a few seconds before. Great.

Just a little tip.... I can't assign the CTRL key anymore to go prone, I'm sure I could assign it with the 1.02 & 1.04.patch But I've found a solution. Go to the mydocuments/Arma folder and I open the #YOUR_PROFILENAME#.ArmaProfile. Then I search for the keyProne[]={xxxx}; or either the keyProne[]={xxxx}; and change the xxxx into 157 (the ID for the CTRL key). Don't forget to save the file when you're done. Works great!

- post deleted. I misunderstand your question...

Do you have an azerty keyboard? Then try to type ...instead of endmission.

Hi, The setunitpos command works again and this time BIS gave us a crouch option : unitname setunitpos "middle" Ok, time to try a cover script... I want to start simple so I created a very simple script, just a setunitpos "down" and "middle" in loop with random delays. First issue : setunitpos "down" after "setuntpos "middle" doesn't work, but "middle" after "down" does. Ok, first I place a sandbag (woodfence) on the map and a soldier with the script. Far enough behind to avoid clipping. Ok, they don't fire over sandbags. I remember the same happened in OFP and there was a solution. You had to destroy them or setpos him in the ground . First, destroying doesn't work in Arma cos the sandbag simply disappears. Lowering doesn't seem to work either, it doesn't matter how low I setpos. So, I'm looking for AI friendly cover objects. I already found one object in the editor: it's named "wall" in empty-objects , you have to setpos it about 1.5m into the ground and then soldiers will fire over it. Well sometimes... They only fire when the enemy is closer then approx 50m, I had better results in OFP. They rather throw/shoot grenades to attack instead to use the hard cover in front of them. So, what can be done to make this work? I don't know shit about addonmaking but I think it has something to do with the fence itself. Did someone already did some experiments with this?

Same here and I'm sure I could use CTRL in 1.02
-
Nope, it still doesn't work. The only thing you can do is to put yourself as a leader boatdriver, move that boat on shore and order them to disembark. That works, I just tried it. When you're on shore, you can always make someone else leader.

I've made a gameplay movie from the sanatize campaign mission. I wanted to record the sound effects but something went wrong with FRAPS. I just recorded noise, so added some music. Next time better. It's 1.05 btw, I think the AI is better in 1.05, they don't turn around that often, they stand up and RUN when supressed and they react much quicker then in previous versions. It's just more fun. It was difficult to aim wit 15 fps but I did my best. DL : http://www.mediafire.com/?7hmjmzhmd0n (21Mb) Youtube :

Hate how Campaign progresses without player input!

There's a nice enterable burned out building on a hill with lots of windows, take yoru AT weapon and nail the tanks from there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/blanco2/Dolores.jpg You can take out at least 3 tanks from there and a few soldiers. But watch out, an enemy can enter the buiding and take you from behind. (with 1.05) -
I did it the same way, but I skilled the 6 soldiers in the cammo netting tent with one grenade that I took from a dead enemy. I also stole a suppresed weapon somewhere to make things easier.

My second impression... I only played SP. Still positive, I"ve seen some minor texture & shadow glitches and a stretched cargo animation (i saw it in one of the campaign missions), but nothing to worry about. For the record...my graphics card is a ATI X1950XTX 512Mb DDR4 running on a E6600 with 2Gb RAM 800Mhz. I also have a slight performance drop, I could run Arma pretty high, but now I have to reduce my details a bit to get 35-40 framerate. Especially the cities are more demanding now, I had 40-50fps with 1.04, now I have 25-35fps. I'm quite impressed by the AI, especially in towns. (maybe that's the reason?) They flank creative, they use trees, corners (coincidence?) and their reaction is improved a lot imo. They don't turn around that much, when they spot you they just crouch, aim & fire. Once I placed my self behind a window and an enemy shoot between a gap in the wall. I'm replaying the campaign at the moment and lots of missions are harder now, but more fun. I like the grass layers, works pretty well and the game is finally fair now. At night I could even crawl up behind an enemy, if I had a knife I could slice his throat (hint)

Well I'm impressed, this should be the review version, I'm sure Arma would get a much higher score. I LOVE the new weaponsights, it's about 10x better and enjoyable now. VTOL is a nice addition, but you guys forgot to change the auto hover icon No big deal, great job anyway. Thx.

Great mirror! I had 1500kb/sec!! Btw, I had the realistic soundmod installed and I had a problem with the sound.pbo during verifying. So make sure no mods are installed during the update.

How to place units INSIDE BUILDINGS
Blanco replied to tophe's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Just to let you know... It seems that the setunitpos command is working again in Arma 1.04 version. Even better, there is now a "middle" option to make him kneel Changelog 1.04 http://community.bistudio.com/wiki....on_1.04 Also take a look at http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setUnitPosWeak ..and the read the notes below about priorities. I can't confrim this, because I don't have Arma yet, but I thought this could be usefull in these kind of scripts to make them crouch behind windows/sandbags, etc
