Btw, what is the return of the animationstate command? Is it the name of animation or things like "up", "down" or maybe "kneel" ? Just curious...

I don't have ArmA yet but I've noticed 2 new eventhandlers in ArmA that might help to get the right anim strings. Animchanged and AnimDone Both EH's have a parameter that return the anim string. (_this select 1), I can't tell you more but it might help Edit : Ok, Gaia beat me. Jeez the names are even more difficult now

Actually, I never used the cursor to lock a target in OFP, once the targets show up on the radar,I hit the TAB key to lock & cycle through the targets, simple as that. When you lose sight with your target it will be unlocked again. Have you tried that already in ArmA?

Yeah, when BIS releases a patch, it will probably check the version you're running as well as every single file in your installation folder. What if it refuses to patch because some files are edited? edit : lol, your answer was posted at the same time as my question.

Yeah ok, the camerawork is dodgy, but don't expect those guys from IGN know much about camerascripting.

exellent video, specially the evironments movie. I saw it before, but it still blew me away. At the end of the "on the battlefield" video I see how a missile drops into the sea with a big watersplash. It could be done better , right now it looks like an exploding waterballon, but... I'm glad there is some kind of watereffect now (which can modded I guess), because the dust explosions in the sea in OFP were very odd.

It's probably a unit that only can be created by altering the mission.sqm. AFAIK classnames are Civil_Undead_1, Civil_Undead_2, etc...

Lol, this says it all, what game has the same magnitude as ArmA or even the 5 year old OFP? Maybe because ArmA is a huge & ultracomplex videogame and BIS is a small company? Btw, Snake great vid, many thx for all the usefull narration during your video. That uncompressed fraps video must be huge :

Or maybe make the grass shorter so noone can hide in it... If you wanted this for a player Vs player map then there is a "grass cutter" you can place in the editior which does exactly that. Great for around bases you create on grasslands, adds realism, reduces graphics needs and equalizers players. What do you mean with grasscutter? A gamelogic? I don't like the grass drawdistance, but I understand why it's not possible. Making the unit partly transparant would look odd, shorter grass is the only fair solution imo.

True, the missionmaker can change diplomacy between sides in the editor but he can't change it during the mission. You can use the setcaptive command but that's not the same. In ArmA there's the setfriend command (I think it's a VBS command)...don't know it works well cos I don't have the game yet. There are lots of new commands in ArmA, I'm aching to try them out. offtopic : Btw, I also read on the wiki there are 2 new eventhandlers, animdone & animchanged

If the soldier get wounded on a slope of mountain, it gets in an infinite cycle between animation rise and animation lay down. OK, maybe that's anoying but it's quite realistic and not a bug for me. Don't climb a slope when you legs are wasted What about a proned roll? Btw, it's normal you can't get up when your legs are hurt, even when you're not on a slope.

The explosion video is quite nice. The AI actually climbs that ladder when you ask him to. Nice. Btw, what's the bug with the guy on the slope? That tank riding upside down is a huge bug...

SFF has made the very first Armed Assault community addon ever released, the Recce soldiers pack! He achieved to do it using an hexadecimal editor, like the first OFP addons created before release of modding tools. SFF Recce Element v.02 This small addon is made to add a Recce Element to arma. The Recce soldiers is wearing booniehats and are armed with smallarms such as C8A1, M4, M249 and C7 Moste soldiers have 7 mags, 2 handgrenades and one smokegrenade. The 2 new weapons are a C8A1 with aimpoint and a C7 with ironsights, at this time its not possible to add new models so M4 and M16 models are used, later on the weapons and soldier models will be changed. source : http://www.armedassault.info/ Not really an addon, but it shows the skills & enthusiasm of the mod community.
