    One issue with OA...

If the driving is a work in progress it's a long time coming.... As said, in OFP:Resistance, convoys worked pretty well. In Arma 1 convoys could get chaotic, but were possible. In Arma 2/OA trying to get a convoy to do anything but drive 20m, stop, twist, turn, do the hokey pokey, resume for 20m, rinse and repeat, is like trying to get a pack of baboons on LSD during mating season to perform a Broadway musical. Tracked vehicles sort of works, because they can rotate while idle. Wheeled vehicles, best to leave in groups of 2 or less. They still spazz out now and again, but at least they don't make every other vehicle behind them do the same.

    81mm mortars, please..

And charge settings. These, especially in a manner the AI can use them on the fly would be an amazing addition.

M1 Abrams Loader... World's Bravest Soldier

Than players can avoid the position. Leaving him exposed because there's no interior modeling is a pretty poor justification for "doing it" totally wrong. Not to mention, the loader should only be out there in extreme circumstances, or if using the main gun is not anticipated. This does bring another thing to light that would be very nice: if crewman could turn in/out individually. Then the loader could come in and out on his own, and in other cases just because the commander is sticking his head out, the driver doesn't have to as well, etc.
  4. First, the M136 LAW & RPG-18. They really need a change. Currently in OA, as in Arma 2, there is absolutely no reason to take these if given a choice between them and the Carl Gustav/RPG-7. The ammunition takes 6 slots, the others are more effective, and take 2 slots per round. I assume the idea was limit to one round to poorly emulate the disposable system, but the result removes any utility of these weapons. The bulkier, heavier weapon ends up being "lighter" on your inventory, as you could take the reloadable launcher, 2 rockets, and 2 magazines in the same inventory space as the single LAW tube/round. Also, with the current system, change the default loadout for the Rifleman AT class. Swap the 2 frags to magazines as they currently only carry 4 mags for their rifle. These guys thus run out of ammunition VERY quickly. Second, would be nice to make the M203/GP25 "round" contain several shots. (Count=X) Currently the grenadier can only take 8 rounds. If you set the reload time of the weapon you can get the same delay between shots as currently occurs, but the grenadier can carry a more meaningful load. (Grenadiers often carry 1 1/2 -2 dozen rounds or more for the M203). To balance it out if needed, make them take primary mag slots, or have magazines that will fit both pistol & primary slots. I've done a config like this to test, 3 rounds each, increased reload time of the launchers so they aren't semi auto ;), and it works out very well. Makes the grenadier the asset he truly is to a squads firepower.

    M203/GP-25 rounds & M136/RPG-18

Trouble is, AI doesn't use the packs. If they're in your squad you can baby sit them (in the middle of a firefight...) and have them drop the pack, open it, pick the items, pick up pack. If it's an AI squad, they get 8, and only 8. If the pack's on the ground they will grab ammo, but they will not drop 'em, nor access the pack of another soldier. Sighting issue is a compromise. Ideally we could set animations between shots (M24 etc).

    OA headaches...

In the US Army, typically the gunner is to fire as soon as he has the shot. Doing otherwise could waste seconds that in the right circumstances could mean one knocked out tank/crew. The commander wants to keep scanning, not stare and wait to see when the gunner is lined up, so he can say to fire.

    ARMA 2 OA 1.52 :Bugs

Browsing through, didn't see it: Seems to be an issue with running a vehicle out of ammo and reloading. In the full Takistan CTI mission, had an M2A3 Bradley. Early on, I had used up ~half my ammo: 1 "magazine" + of HE & AP 25mm, a few tows. Went to base, and at the vehicle supply building it reloaded fine. Later on I ran it totally out. Back at base, only 1 AP magazine, and 2 tows (1 "Magazine"), and the 1200 MG rounds would reload. Would not load the rest of the AP cannon ammo, TOW reloads, and no HE cannon ammo whatsoever. Tried pulling up to a supply truck with the same result Had a similar experience in the armor turreted HMMWV. Ran the .50 cal out, and only 2 magazines would reload from base/ammo truck, whereas the vehicle had 4 or 5 extra mags when it was bought. If you run it out, only one or a couple magazines will load instead of the full compliment.

    ARMA 2 OA 1.52 :Bugs

Searched TOW in this thread, came back no hits soooo: US Army static TOW launcher is currently broken. *Edit: *Ok, didn't search "Launcher" and now see such a post... feel free to delete. The weapon system itself is non-functional. You can still use the optics from the gunners position, but the weapon cannot fire, and doesn't show weapon/ammo in the upper right. Right now it's nothing more than a thermal scope. This occurs placing in the editor, buying in the CTI missions, etc. Also, the gunner currently sits very high, rather than kneeling and looking into the optics as on the USMC variant, instead floating in a seated pose above the launcher itself. Looking at the configs, it isn't inheriting properly from the Arma2/stock TOW. (Common folder). If you use addweapon/addmagazine in the editor, works fine. Just using addmagaizine, still non-functional.

    HEAT warhead parameters (OA)

I'm not seeing this ineffectiveness. Just loaded up in the editor an M1A2, and 12 T-55s. HEAT rounds defeated all armor arcs within 2 hits. Usually 1 hit and the crew baled, 2nd hit was a catastrophic kill every time. Seems pretty effective to me.
  10. I wish. My eyes lit up when I saw it, and was sorely disappointed when I tried it. Hope it gets the functionality in an update. Such a waste as is, that big beautiful tube just sitting there sadly wishing someone would feed it. :)
  11. Thanks for putting that up Placebo. I manually downloaded all the files and got a CRC error, according to quickpar #4 is damaged, same the downloader choked on. Trying another manual download from the Euro mirror... This has been frustrating to say the least.
  12. On win 7 at least, it put mine in Documents\Sprocket.

Sprocket OA: Bad MD5 checksum after 409600 KB!

Didn't ignore, was moving the post here and rechecking the log before submitting, apparently while you replied. ;) I did try the Sprocket site first, but cannot even load it to get a support address, and assumed since "Sprocket is BIS & BIS is Sprocket" this was plan B. Found the support e-mail on a third party site though, so have it now. Please feel free to delete this then. Thanks.
  14. So what now? I cannot download Setup04.bin. Every time it hits the same spot, and begins to cycle going back to ~400 megs, hits this point, restarts, etc. The log in the download folder shows "Bad MD5 checksum after 409600 KB!" each time. I've tried a complete re-download twice, and a complete re-download of this file (stop sprocket, delete setup04.bin, start downloader @ this file, 0%) ~20 times now. It's done the backtrack when hitting this point probably a few hundred times (have deleted the log file @ ~5mb several times now). Every route leads to Bad MD5 checksum after 409600 KB! Any official suggestions? I think it's safe to assume the downloader is not going to progress passed this point for me. Thanks.
  15. Wish I could say the same. I woke up, and once more, it was stuck on setup04.bin, right at 409,600kb, with a loooong list of the same, 409,600 bad checksum error in the downloader log. I have stopped, deleted the partial, and restarted at least a dozen times, on all nationality servers, same deal. Started the whole thing over, and same thing. No clue how to get passed that part of the file.
  16. Its loaded pretty heavy. Problem I'm having, at least when starting "Setup04.bin" on the US server, is : Bad MD5 checksum after 409600 KB! Stopped, deleted the parital file, restarted, same thing. At that point it goes into a loop backtracking a few megs, hitting that point, rinse and repeat.

    Where/how/when to buy ARMA2:OA?

Yeah, think they were a tad optimistic about their server capacity. :) Just talked to someone who can't even get on the website to order it, wait 5 minutes for one page to load, timeout on the next, etc.

Incoming tracer fire cannot be seen, why?

Yep. The bullet doesn't create a light swallowing black hole in the front. I guess in Real Virtuality world it's safe to smoke at night too, as long as you hold your ciggie so the tip faces away from the sniper lurking in the dark. ;)

    New beta build 71749 up

Turn off vertical synchronization. Should be an option in your video card settings (lower right, system tray icon to access typically). With Vsync on, unless the application uses triple buffering, your frame rate will be locked to a divisor of the monitors refresh rate. Eg: Before you might have been getting "61" FPS, which gets locked to 60. Now you might be getting 59, which thus locks @ 30.

New Beta Build 71726 is up

Do you have 32bit or 64bit Windows? Also, do you have a video card with 1gb of memory? If yes to both, this patch will do very little for you, as there is still a system wide ceiling with a 32bit OS. Just asking as it gives a bit more for others to compare with, if they also still get that error. ;)
