That story sounds BS in other ways than sheiks drinking pepsi... Maybe its just exaggarated (sp?) to make a more striking story but I think the story sounds made up in some parts like the soldier urinating from his bradley.

THE LOST BROTHERS ADDONPACK #2 RELEASED
bucket man replied to miles teg's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Just for the record I found great pics of syrian troops in Lebanon. Not sure if LoBo team already has enough but still... Tank hunters I hope that helps. -
One thing that annoys me in winter islands is the total lack of piled snow. I live in Finland and every winter, along every road there is large piles of snow that has been moved away from the road. Its odd that noone has made a snow pile object.

I neither like the Sinai map very much. Its hard to point out why but its just somehow not working. The new map looks great though. Maybe its the palm trees or something. -
US Civil War Mod ver.1.0 Beta Released
bucket man replied to Triglav's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
WTF!!?!??! Those officers are llike 100% better than the old ones! Not like the old ones are bad ore anything but those new ones seem to be much more detailed! -
Chinese dont have a T-62 dont they? They copied T-54 (Type-59) and T-55 (Type-69) and made million different versions of them. First major breakaway from T-55 desing was Type-88 I think.

THE LOST BROTHERS ADDONPACK #2 RELEASED
bucket man replied to miles teg's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Mmmmmmm, jordanian units... Your mod is great Miles and Calm Terror and anyone working for it! Maybe not BAS quality but thats only a good thing in my book. Imagine trying to stage massive tank battles between IDF and egyptian army when every single tank has über detailed textures and 100000000000 polygons. -
Very nice looking HMG! I have a question though regarding PLAAF. You have any plans on releasing more aircraft besides Q5 and that attack chopper? Currently I use Footmunches MiG-21 as J-7 and his Su-27. I still miss the J-8B and J-10.

I modified the ORCS weapons to high dispersion to fix the godlike accuracy bug. They are much better now and the models&textures are perfect. The sounds are also very good but I understand if someone wants the RHS weapons instead. Actually ideal thing would be a unified east/soviet/russian weapon pack with all the AK47/74 variants, RPG's, MG's and sniper rifles that all russian mod teams could use.
-
He has got a point. It would simplify things a little since both packs have 90% same weapons.

OMFG! Toyota technicals?!??! Where?!?!?
-
Good point manhunter. It would be alot more hectic if your teammates could wound seriously and had to be evaced quckly. But yeah this is quite offtopic and to get ontopic again: I really, really like the new explosion effects. In real life mines and IED's dont make the huge fireball shit but instead lots and lots of dust and smoke.

I was just wondering about something. When I looked at the news about israel/palestine conflict or assault on Fallujah most gunmen wore adidas sport shoes and "sport pants" (dont know the english word) combined with more traditional scarfs that cover the face. Also some middle-east militias like Hizbollah sometimes have old russian flak jackets and similar stuff. Afgan guerillas on the other hand, wear only their traditional clothes that they have used for the last 100 years. Maybe its bossible to reskin some other addons and fit them in this pack to give more variety?

HAHHAAAA! Rambo is back!

Any plans to do the same thing that FDF Al Maldajah had? I mean the roads that are "elevated" from the ground. In real life most roads are not just flat on the ground, they are usually higher than rest of the ground surface if you know what I mean. I think it really gave more realistic feel to the FDF mods desert island.
-
No its not. Its only a T-34/76 with longer barrel. It should also have different turret to represent T-34/85.
-
In the mean time you should use generic opfor packs 6 color desert camo dudes if you want modern iraqi forces.
-
Wtf Miles I thought you guys had not even started on the historical stuff?!? This is great! I have wanted quite some time to do some Yom Kippur war missions. Though I would like to point out one detail. That turret on the T-34/85 is the same one that the T-34 with 76mm gun has. In the 85mm version the turret also is different. I suggest you to check out the recently released BE45 T-34 pack. Also are you planning on doing the MiG-21 that EAF currently use aswell as the older version? The new version has new radar, Matra Magic missiles from France and Sidewinders from USA. Old one uses AA-2 Atoll missiles I think.

Miles is brobably right, in the 60's most IDF soldiers wore green uniforms. I have a book called 50 Battles That Changed the World and one of the battles/wars is the six day war. Theres a picture wich show maybe 10 IDF soldiers advancing in the desert with UZI submachine guns. They all have olive green uniforms with no camo pattern. IDF used quite ironically wermacht weapons during the 40's and 50's. They bought them from Checkoslovakia (spelling?). Most pictures I have seen they have MP-40's in their hands and I once read a story that said that the first plane of IAF was german BF-109. Oh btw Miles do you have any screenshots of iranian soldiers you are working on yet?

Yeah retextured vehicles would be perfect for the 1948 war but from what I have read neither side didnt use tanks that much. Israelies had something like 5-10 cannons some of them dating to the 1800's. Israelis also had 1 or 2 tanks during the war and their soldiers had no single uniforms. Same goes for arab forces as well. Arab regulars took part in the war at the very last stages. Most of the fighting took place between israeli and arab militias. All their weapons were also WW2 era weaponry. For example upminders WW2 weapon pack has all the small arms you are going to need.

I based my claim of AMRAAM superiority on the "R-77 is similar and in some respects equal to the AIM-120 AMRAAM" bit. Besides both are in theory medium range missiles. AMRAAM has longest range of all missiles in US inventory if Phoenix is taken out of service with F-14 Phantom. I just read some more on the missile guidance systems and both AIM-120 AMRAAM and AA-12 Adder have almost the same system. In long engagements missile is first launched and then it receives updates on the targets position from the aircraft that launched it or maybe AWACS. Then when its about 20 kilometers from the target it switches to its own radar and homes in on the target. In close ranges it uses only its own radar and the launcher aircraft can fire and then fly away. So both missiles have equal guidance systems. Also both missiles have about 50km range. In theory they can achieve over 100km's but that is only in optimal conditions firing the missile in high speed and to a target lower that the launcher aircraft.

Yeah I like jordanian military more because they have mixed and rare equipment and syrians have all russian equipment. Still jordanian military doesnt stand a chance against their neigbours. I read somewhere that jordanian army has 2 armored divisions and 2 mechanized infantry divisions. Thats why they never even consider fighting a war alone. Their doctrine is based on the thought that if Jordan is ever attacked allied forces are already coming to rescue.
