The name of the game you forgot is probably Steel Beasts. Yes it is costly compared with a regular game(I think $125 for the version the public can buy)but it sounds like you don't want a regular game you want a sim? It's not cutting edge graphics, but if it's the tank gameplay your more interested in check out their fan site http://www.steelbeasts.com/

I would certainly agree that sometimes better communication can head off a lot of anger, disappointment or whatever you want to call it. And it's something that doesn't cost much. But as you said, you can probably be sure it's either your working so hard you forget to let people know or you so annoyed at how the people in these forums (I have to say it's mainly the newer members) twist and flame everything that is written.

Well hopefully you can find something to keep complaining about until it is released. I know that a lot of you guys are used to different, but many of us here have been playing BIS games for years and know that they are a small dev company doing the best they can. It may not meet the timescales of a bigger company, it may have some bugs that other companies allegidly would not have released a product with, but after all that it has the game play I was looking for and the so called 'better' companies would not take the risk of attempting. Because of that I've learnt to cut BIS some slack and relax a bit. It will be released as soon as it is ready to be released ---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:58 PM ---------- Never type a reply so long that BIS release the patch before you finish posting. You just end up looking silly :D

Spend just a short time looking and you can find your answers http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1394483&postcount=311

It would be nice but unfortunately I doubt it would stop the panic.

LOL chill out. You had hundreds of people clamering for the patch all over the forums and they worked to get that out. For a lot of people the game is also about single player and coop (although I myself only really play online PvP) and they can play this without a seperate server.exe Now that the client patch is released they will be focussing on finishing up the server.exe have a cup of tea, play a coop, play the fixed campaign but relax and before you know it you'll have you server patch

Any news of the upcoming patch?

beg to differ but 'few' doesn't mean 5 or 6 so it's a small number and if we define 'small' of which I would say go with option 4. insignificant; unimportant So 1.03 will be ready in an insignificant/unimportant amount of days, or when it's ready :D -
Loading old vanilla Arma maps in Arma 2 with CAA1 - Just Wow - Performance & Beauty
bazooka_boy replied to p75's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Ubfortunately, with a game that is so flexible there comes complication. You can't get away from the fact that this series of games does require you to invest some time in learning how to do things if you wish to get the maximum out of it. You could write an installer for the mod, but until it is complete, the Yoma syncroniser gives people the chance to do the install/setup once then stay up to date with any changes/improvements/fixes at the click of a button. Stick with it and post here for help and once you've got it working you can apply that knowledge to any other mod you want to install. -

From memory (which is always hit and miss with me) there is something like a default servers tab which lists a few servers CAA and OAC, I right clicked on each server and added it as a favourate. Then from your favourates server tab double click on one of the servers to open it's section, in here you'll find and addons tab and when you have selected that, you should see the option to check for addons, and then download addons. -
This game made me violently sick. Might persue legal action.

You could try but I don't think they have any cash left to honor payouts -

Also if you took 2 minutes to look at the thread titles in the Troubleshooting section you probably would have avoided the need to post at all. Yes people are not getting the performance they expect. Yes BIS are aware of it. Yes there are things you can do, some work for some but not others so it is up to you if you want to try any of them. Yes there is a patch due out soon although there is no certainty it will fix the issues as the content of the patch are not yet finalised. Look around and read the existing posts.

ARMA 2 Fails As PvP Game...What Happened?
bazooka_boy replied to Sniperman1's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
The style of play you want is out there, but it's not the same 'jump on an play' setup that you'll find in other FPS games. But this game was never meant to be the same as other FPS games. What are seen as strengthes to many (more realistic, less arcade, go anywhere do anything playing area) could also be considered weaknesses when it comes to getting adhoc large scale organised games going. Unfortunately I think that the most sucessfull way to achieve it is planning and organisation, whether that be with a group of friends, a group of people you organise with on these forums, a clan or a tournament. Get the date, time, style of mission pre arranged and those who are interested will try to join if they can. It is still not an easy task, but it can be done. I for one currently play in the Charlie Foxtrot tournament. Not only does it have a large weekly battle, but you make enough friends to be able to find a decent game pretty much every night. -
ArmA 2 (Cant finish installing)
bazooka_boy replied to Kandrat's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
All I did was create a folder somwhere called ArmaDVD 'explore' the dvd so you can see it's contents copy the 'DirectX' folder from the real DVD to your ArmaDVD folder repeat for 'Data' folder and the 14 files in the root (not in a folder) of the DVD now I created a folder within my ArmaDvd folder called Arma2 now from the DVD copied 'Addons' to ArmaDVD\Arma2 repeat for 'dta', then 'Keys', then 'Missions', then 'MPMissions', then the 'Arma2.exe' and 'ijl15.dll' -

I had an issue with some of the files failing CRC, I also get the same problems with my Crysis disk. As a previous poster said, some of this may just be conisidence, but what I did/do make sure any drivers for you drive (I have a SATA drive) are up to date copy to the hard disk drive, I copied a folder or to at a time not the whole content (but obviosuly make sure you get the structure matching what is on the dvd when you paste them) install from the copy you move to the hard disk (if you are on vista and installing any software I would always run the setup as admin) I can't decide if these issues are related to the fact the drive is SATA and there were some issues with sata drives on nvidia chipset motherboards (680i's it think) Or securecom Or both Or the weather etc. etc. But I don't think it is specific to Arma2 -

bazooka_boy replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The trouble with the m262 is that they were pretty commonly built slightly differently. The best info I can find to help quickly in this forum link http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop....1282549 Which includes this plan M262a plan All the topology books I have list only the original M262 type, so this is probably as good as you'll find quickly but it should have enough measurments to help. Let me know if you need anymore info as most of the internal look of the bunker (if you are doing it) will be the same as most bunkers generally and I have loads of pictures of all sorts of things -

bazooka_boy replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Regarding the observation bunker, there are a few parts of it which are not correct. I do not mean it as a criticism as I would love to have enough skill to create a model this good or well enough to acurately represent my obsession with concreate. Here are some of the photos I took on my last visit to this particular bunker Longues-Sur-Mer Photos I have plenty more photos/info on bunkers if you need any assistance. I know it's impossible/inpracticle to do 100% acurate models but in short the struts holding up the roof on the upper observation area are too tall. The lower observation slit is not held up with metal struts and is much much narrorer so as to make it virtually impossible to fire into. The inside of the bunker would have been white washed and you would see the bottom edge of the steal beans that support the weight of the roof. The outside would also have earth pushed up against it to disguise the shape of the bunker and cammo nets attached to the bunker and pulled out over any trench or route to the entrance. -
I have quite a few pictures from the inside of this M19 bunker on Jersey if you would like them and have somewhere for me to upload them too. I have picutres from other bunkers as well if you're building more.

Why are most pvp players laughable at best in arma
bazooka_boy replied to Migel's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
It is always hard to get that level of communication on apublic server and even if you get communication you need to trust the source and filter it to your own situation which can be hard to do if you don't know how your situation fits into the bigger picture. If you want that level of organisation I think tournaments/large scale clan matches are the only way to get it. But by the fact that they are organised means someone is in command and you rely on them to control the battlefield. Shameless plug but I think we have struck a pretty good balance between organisation/realism and fun at ATOW and I would invite you to stop by and check us out.
