  1. after getting in chopper use your action menu (mouse scroll wheel) and choose the blue text (forgot what it says, something about choosing LZ)...immediately after you do that you'll see white text appear on screen or another action menu item telling you to goto map screen, so do that and then left click on a good area to land...not too hilly or too close to buildings where youd crash obviously.

simply check this yourself to know...startup arma3 with sos disabled and play for a few minutes and check your rpt...do you see the errors above? (you shouldnt). close arma3 and restart with sos enabled, play for a few minutes and check the rpt again...see the above errors? Also forgot to mention there are also lots of "radio protocol" type .rpt errors being spammed by SoS.

'a3\dubbing_radio_f\data\male09\10.wss' These 180 lines were spammed by SoS within just the first 3 minutes of mission play...after a few HOURS you can imagine how big it gets, not to mention days/weeks/months later. I know how to turn off logging, but 95% of people do NOT know anything about it (this of course is BIS's fault by leaving it on by default which is what you do when youre in Alpha, not retail release...but thats another BIS management issue). I understand that BIS leaves errors unattended...but that's no example to follow...wasn't looking for justification as I know how difficult it can be to work out ALL rpt errors...just wanted to report them because im sure the author would want to nip them. Again..thanks for this...truly appreciated!
  4. I have not changed the way that the Fast Travel scripting works...it is the same now as it always was, EXCEPT I've attached a small per incident fee to it (2CP). For MP purposes (especially if we'd like to get this working good for dedi's one day) it's never a good idea to let only the host have control over items like this (or even group leader). To be honest this mission was written for SP and was never properly setup to have group members really. Originally it was all and ONLY group leaders which is better for MP...but then someone decided to add in playable group members which really gets things screwy if you buy some AI into your group and the a player JIP's also into your group...it causes issues. Same goes for making on certain things unlockable for only group leaders instead of all players...it confuses most people and makes things more difficult because then you have to all communicate or discuss which player should unlock what and who should not unlock what...this is actually the way it WAS...and it turned off too many people from getting to learn the mission because most folks have an attnetion span of 5 seconds or less, lol. So, making things accessible to everybody just makes the mission more palitable to the majority, less confusing to teach to new players, and is more fun since EVERYBODY has control over what they want or dont want to spend on. If you're asking me to script in multiple respawn points...I've thought about it since the beginning but put it off because there were so many other things that needed to be done and everything is sooo time consuming, especially for me since I don't know scripting like the back of my hand so to speak:-)...I'd have to think about how to implement it carefully...in a way that wouldn't deter the use of either the FT or HALO. Because it would be free (and the whole idea of this mission is that almost nothing you decide to do should be free) I feel the smartest way to do multiple respawns would be to make special capturable enemy camps on the outskirts of the enemy zones and use your captured camps as possible respawn locations you can choose from after a death...but this would require alot more coding. The simplest way is to just incorporate a single mobile respawn unit vehicle...which I would consider but im not sure off the top of my head how to script it so that you wouldnt need the unit already exisitng on the map. If you are up to coding something like this yourself lemme know. I'm not doing this to help train players how to edit mission files TBH...I'm doing it to help players PLAY a fun mission that offers as much openness/freedom and playable options as my very limited skills can provide. This must sound stand-offish but believe me I'm not...if you'd talk to me in person you'd see that I love helping people and offering lots of advice, but, To be honest I teach for a living...and coming home to MORE teaching isn't exactly enjoyable for me, lol. I like being able to come home and be able to work at something without explaining every step of what/why im doing it :-)... I DO feel your pain though...took me quite a few weeks to really get familiar with all the scripts...and there are some I havent even bothered with yet (like the side missins). This I have no idea of since I've never used it on anything other than the 2 stock A3 maps thus far...and have not had a reason to analyze the zone creation scripts to see why that would happen. @AbortedMan - nah...I appreciate the idea and all...but removing NVG from the enemy would just make things too easy...and if you want easy there are easier ways to accomplish that given all the parameters and options the mission offers you anyway :-)

some really wonderful sounds here...very fun & immersive! A big thank you for spending so many hours of work bringing this to us!! On a side note....are you aware that the sound mod spams alot of .rpt erros in your log?...check your logs folks, as they're probably growing larger :-)

Neverminding the mission for now...has anybody even heard from Benny at all recently? It's been 3 months without a peep from him on this forum. Anyone know if he's ok??
  9. ***NEW MARCH 06TH UPDATE FOR MODIFIED DUWS*** New As of March 06th, 2014: - VEHICLE REFIT: now works at FOB's with the 0-8 menu just as it does at HQ! Thank you Kibot for helping me with that code!! No more having to drive up so close to FOBs anymore...works within 50m, even in choppers!...therefore the "repair" action menu item has been removed since it is not needed. - NEW Parameter Option (in LAN/Internet mission lobby screen): Enable/Disable Attack Choppers; this is perfect for those who want to start mission with high AP (170-200) but do not want enemy choppers included...also saves fps performance over time! (N/A in Scenario mode since it's a param). By default the parameter is set to attack choppers disabled...so if you want choppers you'll have to go into the param menu to change it before mission starts. - Workshop Version ONLY: old way of saving has been re-enabled so you should now be able to use RESUME in SP Scenario using the Steam Workshop version. - bug fixed: REVIVE ISSUE - "Always on" Action items missing after respawning with REVIVE ON...this issue is now fixed and you will retain all your action items when playing with revive ON, however a side effect of this fix is that the "revive" action item will pop-up in your action menu whenever you are within close range of (3m) and pointing to someone you've already revived. I can't get rid of it, sorry...but not a bad trade-off really. - more tweaks to default Opfor skill (best results with your main arma3 menu difficulty slider set to 0.3-0.5 for enemy and 1.0 for friendly) - new default AP set to 170 (war starts slowly at first but gets intense by 3rd or 4th zone)...BEWARE:use with caution, will cause low fps after awhile...but most high end pc's should maintain 20-35fps. If you dont have a very strong pc then use low AP for start, or consider using the new parameter option to disable attack choppers. - warcom script adjustments: seems that armored enemy vehicles will actually shoot now :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New As of March 10th, 2014: - Helicopter Taxi & Boat Taxi Fixed: big improvement in chopper/boat behavior when enemy is detected, no more turning away from LZ or endless hovering in the air. Taxi is now operating much more solid, and can be used as reliable transportation, finally! - HALO on RESUME/LOAD Fixed: When playing a "resumed" or "loaded" session Halo'ing will now give you back your backpack (assuming if you had one in your kit when jumping). Yay! - HALO chemlights - if you use a chemlight or strobe during your HALO jump you now need to manually remove it after you land, or it will stay lit! (you can remove the light in your action menu). As Always...both the PBO and Steam Workshop versions have already been updated..if you have not updated on or after March 10th, 2014 17:30GMT make sure to re-download & install.
  10. ^Exactly^ - and it's still a long way from being ready to even attempt to implement in a mission like this. When it's really ready and if it's ever in scripted modules form I will be taking a closer look.
  11. ok, doesnt sound like you're using the newest modified version since the default is currently set to 200! (this will be changed again shortly).
  12. @Kidnoff - this is what it's like when you have 150+ AI and vehicles on the map all at the same time in arma...nothing can be done about it. Playing on high AP means theres alot more enemy vehicles and choppers on the map at same time so you get a fast and furious battle going pretty quickly after start. Next time...start with a low AP (like 0), it'll allow you to play a longer match since a lower AP means it'll take alot more time for the AI to build up in numbers. But if you play on high AP, especially at 170-200...I'll get maybe 25-30 fps after 2 hours of play...still playable, but dont expect fps to stay like butter after 3+ hours on this setting. You can't have your cake and eat it too...this mission cannot use cached AI either because the AI would no longer hunt down your FOB's or HQ and there'd be no way to lose. The vehicle wrecks get removed every 10 minutes, bodies every 15 minutes...if I remove that, you wouldnt be able to play on high AP at all....fps would dip too low, and too soon. You wouldnt want to play more than 30 minutes on high AP if i removed that...and no i wont make via rest only since very few people use it. This is the way it was previously and it simply wasn't doing a good enough job. This way has shown to be an improvement...in fact some say I should have the removals happening MORE frequently. If i get more feedback on it I can adjust it, but so far noone has complained until now :-)
  13. There are only 2 documented reasons why you should be swimming: - WHEN ENTERING MISSION I AM SWIMMING: Either you have joined someone's server in progress (JIP) and simply need to respawn once (esc\respawn)...OR, you are trying to resume the mission while choosing to play a different unit/role than you initally started with. You should not change roles in this mission as it breaks the scripting. ...sounds like you might have some players in the server backing out and role switching...it's a no no. The JIP swim only happens 50/50 when you first join...just respawn once and the issue is gone after that. ---------- Post added at 08:01 ---------- Previous post was at 07:48 ---------- This mission is 99% scripted externally outside of the editor...so, to employ something like this would require a couple things. 1. the lifter script needs to already be 100% scripted externally with no editor modules needed 2. it must be able to work with missions that have no pre-existing vehicles on the map. If you are certain it meets these minimum requirements then PM me the link and I'll try to fit it in.
  14. yea I know it's difficult to resist using them but lots of vehicles and AI patrols will certainly "tank" your fps (no pun intended!,lol). On another note - Kibot is back home on holiday for a short visit so I sent him an email regarding some fixes I've been trying to make...he's busy with another project while he's here but I'm hoping he may get a chance to offer me some insight...if so, I would probably release another update. We'll have to wait and see. Also, Im still tweaking around with a good default AI skill setting and AP combo. I just tried playing with 170 Opfor AP and an Opfor skill of .35-.45 (while my arma3 difficulty slider is set at .3)...was alot of fun...took awhile to take first 2 zones so it was challenging but not frustrating. So, if there's another release I'll probably include these settings as default...but the players difficulty slider in the main arma3 menu will make a difference of course in how it feels/plays... ...so I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea of where the average player is keeping their difficulty slider these days. What do you guys use nowdays? .3, .4, .5, .1?
  15. I'm not certain what MCC is....but as for the settings, squad manager (field commander perk) & FLIR action menu items...it's been fixed already as long as you're playing with revive OFF...you need to download my latest version to get that fix. However, if you play with revive ON the revive script that Kibot uses is using code that actually deletes all the player action menu items after respawning. I've been trying to change that code so it only erases the "revive" action item as it should, but I have not been successful yet. Maybe Kibot will be able to help with the revive script. As far as the revive script issue, keep in mind that it only effects the "always on" action items and has no effect on the regular items that appear at HQ and FOB's.
  16. Hi...you need to learn what all the setting choices do...next time try starting with 0 AP for enemy (or for both enemy and friendly)...the AP (army power) controls how many forces/resources are used....the higher the AP the more units and vehicles will be spawned during the mission and the more your performance will suffer! I set the default AP to 200 ONLY to showcase what the mission is capable of....so tone it down next time. If you use common sense and you have a good cpu (4ghtz+) there's no reason you shouldnt be able to maintain 30+ fps. Even starting with 200AP, after playing for 4-5 hours i still get fps in mid 20s, depending on whats going on at the time and where I am on the map, etc. If you srart at a low AP you should expect to average over 30fps the entire mission with a modern cpu and graphics card.
  17. *** AGAIN, ANOTHER UPDATE TO MODIFIED VERSION, are you kiddin? (yep, it's true!) *** Sorry folks...forgot to add the newest HALO script in the last update, plus a few other minor adjustments. Please view the newest readme in the zip for known issues. New As of Feb 28th, 2014: - tweaked default AI skills again (a little less harsh than previous update, best suited for having your OPTIONS/GAME/DIFFICULTY settings at 0.3, ...or even 0.5 for a more difficult challenge) - tweaked default starting AP down to 200 (alot less attack choppers, sometimes none at all...depends) - capped starting AP options at 250 for those who want attack choppers gauranteed to come. - updated to newest HALO script (ATM Airdrop v6 by Pokertour...thank you!)

    =ATM= Airdrop [A3] - Beta

Hi...which script errors were fixed in v6?...anything to do with not getting your backpack back after you land (this only happens when "resuming" from a saved mission)? ...just tried it (added VAS to your example mission, then save pbo to MP)...and nope...same bug (arma3 bug or ATM script bug i have no clue). Here's how to reproduce it: 1. Start mission and load a saved kit from VAS that contains backpack (in my case its a carryall bag I think) 2. Do 1 Halo (when you land everything is fine...you get the backpack back) 3. save the mission, back out of it and do a RESUME 4. After entering into the resumed mission do another HALO...this time you dont get the backpack back. I'll assume it's some sort of arma3 bug that stops either the setloadout or getloadout calls from working with backpacks after a save/resume.
  19. ***MODIFIED VERSION UPDATED TODAY*** New As of Feb 26th, 2014: - fixed: the "No Fast Travel for Chopper Taxi" Option is now functioning as it should and is set as default. - fixed: Personal Flir "enable/disable" addaction now works after respawning (under certain conditions you may notice 2 instances of enable appearing in action menu but it will still function properly). - fixed: When Field Commander Ability unlocks, the Squad Manager Action Menu Item no longer disappears if player respawns. - tweaked: Default AI skills - Parameters: Death Penalty defaults at 1cp now, so you lose 1cp each time a human player gets killed. - New Startup Option for AP Added (225ap is now default...all the other ap options are still there if you wish to choose them at startup). I think for now this will be it...I fixed alot of little bugs from the original and added a ton more options to have fun with this past month. I may or may not decide on trying to get this working on dedicated servers, I'm just not sure yet...so you can keep an eye out for that possibly. As far as AI goes...it needs some work of course, but I refuse to go to work on the AI in this mission until AFTER BIS releases some more patches and we get closer to what a full retail release should have been. At least by then we can see and work with whatever AI changes they might have employed into the base game and then make a decision and take it from there so there won't be alot of wasted time banging heads against the wall right now...so we'll wait it out awhile and see. If DAC release (or ALIVE becomes scripted) I'd like to use that in this mission if BIS doesn't bother fixing it. I hope you guys are enjoying it, and will continue to have fun with it...I know I will!! Again...SUPER THANKS TO KIBOT!! (come back soon, we need you BAD!, lol)
  20. sounds like you are not running a listen server at all...if you are trying to connect to a server then it means you're running the dedicatedserver.exe....this mission will not initialize on the dedi. Use the "in-game" LAN or Internet mode instead. 2 other reasons for swimming: - JIP (joining someone's server in progress) causes you to enter swimming sometimes...just respawn yourself once and all is fine (esc\respawn). - You may be trying to resume from a previous save and not picking the same solider unit you last played as. You should never change roles after starting this mission as it causes too many scripting errors...always stick with the same role as when you started.
  21. @Hebrew Hammer - *Update* - I just took a look at the issue with enemy getting stuck on the prefabs. I had a choice... 1. fix it so those particular soldiers would spawn outside and away from the prefab (which I did at first but it looked really weird having 8 enemy just standing in a field 40 feet away from prefab unprotected...they dont move or do anything until you shoot at them due to the spawn call using bis_fnc_taskDefend) 2. Leave it the way it was BUT spawn a few less soldiers to fit in the prefabs better (which is what Im going with for now). It just looks more natural this way...that taskDefend call is kinda lame, and the prefabs are very small with no static defense so theres not a whole lot you can do for a quick fix here. They have to stay in the prefab for now...especially since they never move (theyre not stuck, its an attribute of the call actually), it seems too "odd looking" once you remove them from the prefab. So now there are 5 enemy in the prefabs and it looks better/less clustered and more believable IMO. Made another quick fix...ive re-enbled the ability to NOT use fast travel with the chopper taxi, so now the menu startup paramter works correctly. Trying to do some basic AI tweaks so they play a bit more aggressive without use of an external mod & im also considering just putting the old way of saving back in just to help avoid confusion for the workshop players. This stuff should be in next update (probably within the week sometime).
  22. must be user error :-)...did you install the newer version of the mission and then try to use the resume which you saved from the old version? a big no no in arma, hehe. Anytime you install a new version of a mission or also if arma itself gets patched you should never try to resume a save which is from a previous version...always use restart the first time after updating with a new mission file or a new arma patch version. Other than that I'd have no idea where your trouble is...I never modified or touched anything that has to do with how the side missions work...and it works here fine both in Scenario as well as LAN modes...and after a resume (assuming you resume from same version).
  23. @ Brunazote - you are playing Kibot's version which was never updated (but yes you can just click ok and continue playing)...to get the latest updated version just download it from my signature link. @Hebrew Hammer - yep absolutely annoying isn't it? lol...i thought I had already looked into this awhile back and couldnt see the solution...but I may be wrong so Im going to take another look at it this week and see if there's anything I can do about it. @blspblackdeath - the only time I know of where this happens is if you are using my Steam Workshop version...and it is well explained in the workshop description, so please have a look there. SP Scenario saves (sitrep 0-8-1) will be deleted after you shut down arma3 and you wont be able to resume any previous save (this ONLY effects my workshop version when playing in Scenario mode). SP Scenario can only be resumed BEFORE you shut down arma3. This is due to the change in how the mission is saved (Kibot must have re-enabled the OLD way of saving in the steam workshop version ONLY im guessing). The fix for you is a choice....either download and use my pbo version instead of the workshop version (which resumes fine in Scenario)...OR, you can continue to use the workshop version but play it in LAN/Internet mode instead of SP Scenario. Personally I always recommend to play it LAN or Internet mode since you will have respawn and also access to the parameters menu in the mission lobby so you can change time of day and player fatigue settings :-). Personally this is the way I ALWAYS play missions if im alone, in LAN...I never play in Scenario mode unless a mission forces me to.
  24. nope, havent heard of this before...must be something you're running there. What DOES happen is that after a RESUME you'll lose all your previous 0-8 menu unlocks...but the workaround there is simply to respawn yourself once after a resume and youll get them all back. But no, never heard of losing scroll menu options after a respawn with this one.
  25. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are trying to say...but if you are running the Newest versions of either DUWS original or DUWS Modified...you cannot ESC\SAVE anymore. The only way to save in the newest version is to use the "Sitrep" feature (0-8-1). it works the same for BOTH versions of DUWS. If you are able to esc\save in original duws then you are running an outdated version, trust me. Part of the problem here may also be that Kibot releases his version with the pbo unpacked so you end up installing folders...bad idea to distribute this way really. His latest pbo version is 8b...if you download 8b and only install his pbo file into your MPmissions folder that is all you need...you dont need all those folders and other files...only the pbo file, and it needs to be in your MPmissions folder...start an LAN and play it that way. Mine already comes as just a single pbo (which is the standard way to release missions). So just follow my instructions from earlier and try it. Delete all duws related/installed folders...delete all duws pbo's...download 1 or both of our pbo files and put them in your MPmissions folder and then play. If you install original duws again DO NOT install the folders...ONLY INSTALL the pbo file itself.
