When i see all the presentation videos from E3 and Gamescon etc i somtime wished there would be a well oiled team playing MP showing off how awesome and diverse that part of the game is. I think that would impress newcomers a lot. The game is in too early shape for that perhaps, but an official video of a team doing some missions during different time of day and different type of missions would seriously impress as it shows more of that "experience" and randomness that happens during battle etc. Maybe something to think about in a later stage. :)

Super! Your addon files just have to come and live in my drive. So please, for the love of everything that is holy, that RPT stuff you mentioned, and the effect it might have if not sorted... Make it go away! :D I dearly hope you get it sorted cause this is too good to get stuck on your drive. ;) Sounds make half the immersion. Your's probably more. Thanks for the effort!

Thanks PurePassion & thanks Jerry Hopper! :)

Great progress LJ. :) @Bee8190: Engines should be "muffled" when inside. Cars usually built that way or you would go nuts. Of course military vehicles usually has more noise inside, but i think LJ's landrover sounds great in and out.

Please keep this thread to it's main theme. Wishes etc go into their respective threads. Just to keep it a bit tidy. Thanks. :)

25% personal liking. When 0% feels like any other simple FPS to me. However like stated there is a slider so nothing to get pumped about.
-
Although i agree 100% i dont think the idea is to do it that way. I think BIS want to make it a bit easier for newcomers to get into the game, and not another BF3 on the easy setting.

I bet you anything Suma now really gonna try miss your posts. Bold by me - we're talking plural! :D Keep it up though mate cause i applaud you for even being able to play with that many bugs! :p Module problem: Btw, i think i found the cause to SSM not willing to drop the units specified when called. Seems ACM+SSM modules together in the same mission will mess up SSM's unit drop since a bunch beta's back. When ACM module were removed it worked normally again (as it has always worked). SSM dropped units combat state: The units come in "danger" mode now as well which creates more work for the player. You want them to drop from the sky and regroup as fast as possible (aware preferably), but now you need to set them to "aware" mode as they land. I will have repro within the evening. Of course i will also test this beta first. Maybe it was fixed hehe.
-
Hmm. An aware soldier is "aware". Meaning he has heightened alert about his surrounding so in that mode i feel a commander should maybe cautiously look around, but not with scan horizon constantly looking all over. This is something we have wanted actually since usually you could walk up to a tank and dance around it without being detected. So i think if we set it to safe then we can sneak (not in front obviously) and plant satchel. But in aware i feel there should be some scanning by the commander although not frenetic. That will be left to danger mode. It shouldnt be too easy to sneak up on deadly vehicles, but a possibility through safe mode. Imo anyway.

Has anyone tested unit drop with the Simple Support Module lately? Tested it yesterday to call in units and no matter how i set it up i get 2 soldiers only. Code: This is the stock line, but no matter how i change it it only drops 2 units. Tested with US Army, BAF etc and different number of units.

I also see the side switching when in map mode. Noticed it as my AI wouldnt engage (only some of them). Also other friendly AI on the field switching back and forth.

Good work BL! Very nice maps. Does BIS environment effect module work? I think it create snow, mist and dust clouds depending on type of map. Would add a lot of immersion. Thanks -
I will check the example mission as well. So far not noticed any weirdness. Thanks Suma for sticking with us. :)

ArmA3 Interview with Ivan Buchta by nordrassilradio
Alex72 replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
DeclaredEvol: Its not based in the future the way you seem to think. Like Ivan B. says most weapons, vehicles and gear will stay realistic but for example a helmet can get some additional gadgets that arent common today. Also mentioned was some weapon system that exists but are big and require lots of juice today which will be scaled down in the game to work on vehicles instead of ships. So its not really future-fantasy gear - just modified a bit. I know this is hell enough for rivet counters (im a counter to a degree as well). However most of the gear will stay realistic as said in the interview, and even the island will stay as is apart from some small additions here and there that will reflect near future stuff. To me it all sounds reassuring. It wont go into the space age, and yes, mods will come for those that cant stand the slightest artistic freedom. :) It's all good. -
Rejenorst's Missions [SP/MP/COOP]
Alex72 replied to rejenorst's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Super missions. Never stop mate. :) Just started Martyrdom and havent finished it, but like a lot how it started. Both voice, fat text on screen (subs) and the odd screaming AI coming out of nowhere scaring the crap out of me. Also some confusion breaks out and although most of it comes from AI not really optimized to move through dense cities it still adds to realism. Great work. Superb mission maker and massive thanks. ;) EDIT: Also ran with ACE and bunch of other addons and so far i havent noticed any problems. -
Reacted to that as well. :)

Alex72 replied to Vitek's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You can always up the graphics to take your screenshots and then set it back to what you play with. Its always nice to see how the textures should look. ;) Good work otherwise. Nice to see new units! -
Very impressive. I second that with an olive paintjob if its not too much hassle. Perhaps just tint the current textures. Good work guys. :)

The 3 things that decide if I will buy ArmA III
Alex72 replied to Leopardi's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Agreed. I see it the same way. Hopefully the anim system will be smooth enough for better CQB but still with "weight" and effects from tiredness. -

Alex72 replied to Leopardi's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
In the E3 video Ivan says ARMA3 will have smoother animations. He also says ARMA3 will be for a greater audience and i think smoother animations is one of the things that would make the game easier to get into since most other FPS players think its clunky as hell. Smoother anim system is good as long as we dont get "floating guns" ala popular FPS games. Actually im sure BIS wouldnt do that to us but i had to say it. :) -
Jungle Wars: Island of Lingor
Alex72 replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thanks a bunch yet again Ice! Amazing island. :) I was wondering if "BIS Environment Effects" Module should work on Lingor? Love the subtle rolling fog it creates (sand on desert islands). However like most BIS modules it probably doesnt activate by itself but the island creator has to make it work(?). Tested just now but didnt get the effect from it (might be a problem on my side however). Would kick extra butt with rolling fog plus "weather fog" and some clouds when sneaking through the Lingor jungles. I guess it's to much of a hassle though to get a single module to work - re-upload/download the whole island for that only. Time to revisit some old fog scripts! Thanks again for top notch islands. :bounce3: -

Agreed. This is best. Awesome with TKOH FM in ARMA3. :) Thanks BIS. -
This OnLive service doesnt appeal to me personally atm although i see where it can do good. For someone in school, unemployed or just not into gaming a whole lot. As building PC's is a side hobby of mine though i just want to see all the tech and beauty the games were made with. Plus i love everything that is moddable. I have a hard time with "as is" systems. :) A good PC usually lets you play 3-5 years in which you have time to save more money for single upgrades within those years. A good motherboard (top of the line-ish) and then the rest of the gear just under the top - that will keep you going for years with occational upgrades on the way. It is more expensive than other subpar platforms the first time, but you will have it for years, and the games will look and sound much better than any other platform. And you dont need the latest and most expensive of all hardware parts - that is not smart if money doesnt grow on trees where you live as you will get fluid high FPS gameplay anyway with the right parts. This is usually a beginners building mistake where they think only the latest will do the job. It doesnt have to be that crazy expensive to play at max with awesome FPS. You just gotta know hardware a bit. Put some more research into it and save a lot of money.
