how to do rolling jumbled text in intros

hi guys, I hope u know what I mean. u know the text that rolls across the screen in the bottom corner jumbling the letters and then forms the title, date etc. I haven't found anything by searching coz I don't know what its called, saying that I found how to do it in A2 but was wondering if this is how u do it in A3 or is there a better way? thanks -
I dont agree witth everyone saying how bad the game runs still. My new rig is an ssd, 4770k at 4.4 and 2x 780s. New install of windows 7 64 and the game runs so well for me. I am always on 60fps as i will lower view distance to get performance. U dont need more than 1500 - 2000 view dist when on foot. The frames will dip to 40 when i play large mp games like king of the hill and might get to 30 when are lots of explosions in the big city but that is to be expected on a open world game like this. The view is locked on 3000 in that game mode. Dont complain u get bad performace on a hardware hungry open world game if u run average hardware. If u have good hardware and are still not happy then optimize ur pc using ssds or ramdisks and optimise the game settings also. Sacrifice view dist for performance, sometimes in life u cant get the best of both worlds. Be greatful for the game ffs instead of bitchin all the time, no ones forcing u to play it, go play the 5 year old arma 2. not directed at anyone in particular, its just all i ever seem to read on hear is ppl baggin the game and devs when they have created something awsome with alot of potential for the future. If the game is so important to u then u can save up and spend a couple thousand and it will run well, otherwise stfu lol. ---------- Post added at 18:48 ---------- Previous post was at 18:45 ---------- Metalnwood, u should be able to get better performance then that with ur setup i would have thought. If not its because ur cpu may be lacking abit, the gpu should be more then enough. If ur not using an ssd then that performance is what i would expect.

Adding mosquitoes? I thought they already did that with the opfor AI. Well i remember the devs saying that they were having an amusing time testing it, or something like that. I kinda hope its not crazy lightning that destroys shit coz that wouldnt be realistic. How often does a lightning bolt strike close to you irl... heres hoping to optimized mp( although with my new rig i have no complaints anymore), some content and more game modes.

Well i have a workaround although not ideal. I have spawned a light for each client and then have a loop deleting and creating the light again. Hopfully the performance hit isnt too bad -

hmm didn't seem to work. it worked on my machine in preview but not on dedicated. on dedi the light wasn't even static. im not the best at this but I would say it is working for the server but the clients cant see it...? saying that when using the debug console i executed null = [this] execVM "scripts\flashingLZ.sqf"; on the server and then the client and neither worked. -

well, I just ordered my new rig which will be up and running by the weekend. main specs: 4770K 780s sli ssd 16gb ram ill post back with the results and well see if the engine still runs shit -

This goes for everyone - if u dont want lag spikes in this game then ull need to have a very strong system with an ssd. System needs to kept clean otherwise it will lag in general ( not just in game) My minimum specs (for good performance) would be i7 quad core at 4ghz Gtx 670 (still pretty weak) Ssd view distance set to minimum. other graphics settings set to high (clouds etc) otherwise the cpu handles them If u have anything below these specs then it boggles my mind that u think u deserve more performance. I mean arma is known for being hardware heavy due to the open world game it is. Im not trying to be rude but u are using tech that is 2 or so years old and its not even the flagship for its time. -

simple work around - don't use the intro tab in editor for the intro, its not necessary. unless u can tell me the benefit of doing so? I execute a fake intro (blackscreen) inside the init.sqf for 15 seconds on start up, this allows everyone to get ingame before the real intro starts. here is my mission with an intro http://www.mediafire.com/download/qt88anppfmcy6hg/Operation_Foxhound.Altis(2).pbo just delete all the dummy characters when the intro is complete. hope this helps -
How important is Ram to Arma 3 performance

If its lag in multiplayer only then one possibility is your antivirus or firewall is causing stutters. Think i saw it on youtube. Simple test is to disable them and see if the stutter is still there. If thats the problem then figure out how to set the firewall to allow arma3 traffic -
Anyone know how to make enemy ai take twice the damage? We are using robert hammers m4 pack but they are underpowered...

hi guys, if you look at this link http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=13542 it says "Please class out a UavTerminal_base for side=CIVILIAN i.e. C_UavTerminal" I need a civi to be able to control a backpack uav, can someone please explain how to do this step by step? I need this to work for a mission tomorrow so it would be much appreciated if I could get any help, thanks

Hello, just wondering if someone can dl this mission and fix the bugs? the bugs are: - when a jip player enters every players gear is reset (respawn.sqf runs when it shouldn't) - sometimes on initial load in this script does not run- if a player is jip or simply reslots they can no longer see the global messages of when the cone gets taken or returned - btc revive will not work - VAS has been configured for each side to only see their respective weapons, but after someone jips sometimes this gets reversed so blufor see the opfor weapons etc. http://www.mediafire.com/?jdpvqhvc8x309lu we dont have the skillz to get to the bottom of these issues, so thanks for any help -

Ive got sli 580s 1.5 gb each. Not very much vram by todays standards but didnt think it would cause issues. So ill try that in parameters and report back. So i would put -maxvram=1400? I dont get the +/- part -

Ive been having the same issue since 1.02. Most of the time it makes me have to restart my pc. i doubt is vram as i have never had issues with this before unless the patch changed sumin. My guess is that because the 1.02 hotfix was aimed at multiplayer crashes that something has changed causing a few ppl to get these crashes. Hopefully will be fixed at end of the month when campaign and patch comes out. (intel) 50degC for cpu is not an issue, you dont want to go past 80. When it gets past 90 or so the chip will shutdown to protect itself. This will not happen unless its overclocked. My chip has overheated many times untill i figured out the water pump was on low, chip is doing fine now. Edit- happens to me on any server -

I am on the latest teamspeak and i have acre working normally with my ptt on my keyboard. U need to make sure that ur keyboard is activated in the bottom right corner of ur hotkeys tab in options as this gets reset when updating -

just in the units init field. ive tried naming it and using the name but not from a script, didn't think it would make a difference but ill test. the thing is using removeweapon in this way works on dedi but it just seem like removeuniform is broken. ---------- Post added at 18:16 ---------- Previous post was at 18:05 ---------- hmm never mind, I got it to work with if (isserver) then { [] execVM script.sqf}; in a trigger. weird that it doesn't work in the units init though yeah? -
hmm, all my answers would have been fixed with the fresh install. they would have been: - verify integrity of game cache in steam - reinstall windows when u reinstalled windows was is a proper 'delete everything and start from scratch' or just a reskin install whilst keeping all your files? this problem has happened to other people when they tick an expansion (custom mod) in the game menu instead of running addons thu the launch parameters. then the mod in question goes missing or corrupted or whatever, but because it is ticked in the game it will always try and load it, but it crashes. if that's not what ur doing then all I can say is something in your system is not compatible, like its loading criticle files like direct x or something and its crashing. make sure all your stuff is up to date - video card drivers, windows, anti virus, etc what specs have u got? maybe think about what has changed in your comp since it stopped working, try changing between dev and stable, try windowed mode
