Finished with uvw unwrapping the whole thing If you want to take a closer look: Render Viewport with placeholder texture Viewport, fuselage see-through, cargo area and cockpit Wireframe /edit - still have to add some weaponry. Currently their are mountings for fuel tanks and FFAR launchers on each side. Thinking about having an extreme Gunship version (though highly unrealistic) with one MG3 in each of the four windows and probably some 50cals(like on the Navy Lynx) in the doors. Just to honor the new multiple gunner feature A realistic version will have to do with 2MGs in the doors or windows.
  2. I reinstalled 3dsmax and lost all my settings. What do I have to do to make the real texture size appear in the viewport? Currently it looks like this: It's a 2048x2048 texture.
  3. Yep using planar mapping, unrwaping part by part. Took me quite a while. You're right JdB, the radar thing at the front didn't receive much attention. But it doesn't require any important texture details. So I just thought, what the hell, spent enough time with the rest
  4. Some more progress on the nh90. After updating the model I went on to uvw unwrap it again.

    @supah You're right the time spent flying versus the time spent on the airfield isn't really balanced. But for me it's the only affordable way of flying. And when you have the right weather flying with a glider is so much better than engine powered flight.

    ArmA is just ... disappointing

    Actually there are two things that disappoint me. 1. I'd have prefered more gameplay enhancements than updates of the graphic engine. Especially on the infantry side of things. That's the core element of the flashpoint series and there was little improvement in that department. 2. Editing Tools. Tools should've been available before the release. Now it's month after the first release and we're still waiting. That's not gonna gelp to revive the editing scene. Of course there will be more activity once the tools are released but with the delay there's a lot of potential lost. Another thing (that I don't blame BIS for) is that i highly doubt that the mod scene will be anywhere as active as during the good old days of OFP mostly because making of good addons now requires even more effort.

    Theatre of War Demo got released. http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/demo.html I've a weird bug with it turning my screen upside down. There's a fix for that but than the game only runs in window-mode. Seems to be a little bugged. But the graphic is awesome and it runs smooth with normal settings on my old notebook (only get 5-10 FPS with ArmA).

    Eye candy is great and everything but at least the defensive tuorial mission and "The Last Frontier" mission are impossible to complete. Seems like the enemies view is not affected by trees and other obstacles at all. The AI-snipping is even worse than in ArmA. Seems like the demo isn't such a great advert for the full game.

    The difference between a police officer and a civlian carrying a gun is that 1. the police officer is representing the state monopoly on the legitimate use of force and 2. that the police officer is trained for critical situations. He can or should be able to evaluate such a situation and is able to decide if the use of lethal force is appropiate. If everyone would carry a gun everywhere there would probably be lot of innocent getting killed because of misunderstandings. In the end I believe such a society would be less safe to live in.

    VBS2 Trailer!

    Awesome! I love the vehicle checkpoint thing. Would something like that be possible in ArmA too? Perhaps only setpos object. Though some of the modells (like Chinook, NH90, Hercules) are missing the accuracy and detail a passionate free-time modeller would put into them. But over all I think there are only few things really different gameplay wise like it was with OFP/VBS1.

    Wasn't there some fancy plane-break-apart effects for when certain aircrafts got hit. Where have they gone? Did I hallucinate or do you plan to include them in 1.1?

    Operation Prelim

    Was surprised how good the heli insertion looked in game. Actually I only placed a straight line but the AI independently decides to stay over water as long as possible and only than to go dry. Forgot to add M203s, but decided not to include LAWs since the AI won't be able to attack the planes or other static targets by semselves. In a prior version of the mission I equiped all soldiers with NVGs but than decided against it in order to keep it realistic. Unfortunately the OFP AI isn't meant to represent highly trained Special Forces soldiers. So I'll add NVGs again for a future version of the mission. And btw you'll have to do a lot of walking before you'll see any action. Here again I tried to simulate the real thing as good as possible. Don't know about the crash thing. Perhaps something to do with CE2. I'll try to activate CE2s own save game function next time.

    Yep, some further cooperation between Malvinas and FLK would be great. Vehicles from Malvinas that could fill in gaps at FLK mod: Unimogs, Mercedes Benz 240 GD, Roland System AA, Scorpion/ Scimitar and Westland Seaking.

    - Would be great to have AI shooting LAWs and such weapons on infantry. There isn't so much AFVs anyway. - The engagement range of the L1A1 is to small. Only speaking gameplay wise. I don't know what the real thing is like. But AI equiped with L1A1 (or FN FAL) only engages targets closer than 200m. While Argentines with FN 50-41 snipe British soldiers safely from high distances. Although it's the same rifle only with automatic fire mode. So three suggestions for the weapons: 1. Include HD weapons, 2. Increase engagement range of L1A1 and 3. allow AI to shoot with AT weapons on infantry.

    The naval artillery seems to be highly inaccurate. Shells land somtimes 100m away from the intended target. Had a whole SAS squad wiped out by such an unlucky hit. Don't know if that's because the mk6 and mk8 can only fire LA or if that's a bug.

    A nice little mission, reminds me a bit of "Ground Attack" the SP mission from OFP 1.0. Only odd thing was that the pilot confirmed seeing smoke although I still was 2 km away from the Paras.
