Ach. Nevermind. Still... We're getting off topic. I suggested a PKM because the RPK-74M doesn't quite measure up to the M-249 evenly - giving the USMC a bit of an advantage when their M-249 eats the entire platoon of Russians and they can't really effectively lay down a base of fire with a 45 round magazine - not quite important though... I know that MORPEH use the PKM, which is why I brought that up. The problem is now finding an equivalent American weapon to even the scales once again... re-issue a M-60E3 to 'em, or a M-240G? AK

Carrying a .50 would be a bitch, and make you a lot more likely target for being wasted by riflemen. I'd probably shoot the man with the .50 Barret before I turned my attentions on the guys with the "lesser" firearms on a distance engagement. And 2-8 rounds from a M-4, engaging a target that would be dead with a single round from a M-16 at longer ranges is damn annoying - you run out of ammo easily if you arn't careful, and if your firearm takes longer to drop them when theirs can put you down with one, its BS. *Watches the off-topic meter swing wildly into the red* AK

Ahh, 'Allo Tom if that is you. I've never heard of this M-60E4 being in active service, but I only heard of it today, which'd explain a lot. I suppose one of the major issues with the 5.56x45mm NATO round is that it is lighter and smaller than a good ol' 7.62x39 or 7.62x51mm which means smaller holes, less stopping power, et cetera. The M-16 is still a viable weapon, but the M-4A1's been having some problems because of the shorter barrel reducing an already weaker round's hit and kill ratios lower than they should be - the Afghanis are not THAT tough, I'm sure if the SF guys who've been reporting this were using M-16 rifles, they'd have dropped their targets. Apparently some Afghani fighters can take anywheres from 2 to 8 rounds in center mass... which seems odd when you think about it. But I've only ever heard that reported with the M-4A1. AK

Well, a PKM would be brilliant for the MORPEH... but what's the point of replacing a weapon that isn't used by the USMC anymore - outdated, replaced by the M-249 I believe. (I am talking about the M-60E3) AK

And don't underrate those HE rounds for killing either soft targets (Trucks) or massed infantry. That SMAW HE came in handy for blasting me a path through many raging Tonalese Militia. Now, this is a bit of an endorsement, but the ultimate compliment to the Naval Infantrymen are the APC's from the VIT APC Pack. A link to it (OFP.INFO) is here. Enjoy. I dunno... this is pretty damn good. I got more than I was expecting... That said, I am VERY happy that these are so computer friendly - revolutionary. The field dressing thing is quite nice. Mind you, I generally get hit in the face - I have a tendancy to poke my head around corners when I probably shouldn't... No blood textures for the head or helmet... well, nothing that makes me think: "Well, that's a headshot." Because, if your head gets hit with a round or a chunk of shrapnel - and it isn't stopped by your helmet, or it misses the helmet entirely - it'll tear you up, real bad. Hopefully that'll be construed as Constructive-Criticism. Pretty good if you ask me, I'll probably get a lot of use out of them. Simple rule of thumb that is NOT hard to follow by any means: Read the Readme it happens to be there for a Reason.. to be read. AK

If any scope is properly modeled to the rifle, then there is no way in hell that a BIS animation will make it work properly. We'd have to go out and make the proper animations ourselves. Probably shouldn't start doing that with this pack though - as it would delay release. Probably a bad thing. AK

Landwarrior: The Naval Spetsnaz are wearing a variation of the Kamysh fatigue pattern. They are not urban. Urban Kamysh is blue-on-grey-on-dark-blue. Then there are things like "Sneg-M", "Gorod" and all those other "Urban" patterns. AK
