  1. What i dont understand is , whats with all the Ghost Reconesque gameplay make over. I mean in OFP if we die , we die thats it. Spawning back in the next in rank guy will be a bit of a realism kill. The whole of point of playing carefully and planning your moves in OFP is that you DONT DIE otherwise gameover. This take on gameplay will however encourage gung-ho attitude as people will have many lives to expend. this wont be like GR's 3 man squad or 9 man total group ... its OFP we got 12 squads and who knows how many other friendly squads to spawn in too.

I hope this feature is one which is optional , i dont mind playing such a mission once in a while but inside the campaign and structured mission no way.

I dont want myself dying and then coming back from the dead in the other mission after having won the previous ones through someone elses shoes , that would be unreal ... literally biggrin_o.gif .

  2. Quote[/b] ]NV Silencer Compatibility (on Nvidia boards)

We have no cooler for the 6600GT AGP board.

    crazy_o.gif

Is there really a size difference in the PCi-E and AGP cards? my AGP card is pretty big , how bigger can the PCi-E one be?

  3. As the topic says , my 6600Gt's fan broke for some reason. My PC had been freezing while playing games for 4 days now and i had no clue until i opened my case today and found the GPU fan dangling outside its cover and the rotor and fan burnt a bit aswell. Apparently the card is stil hopefully working and the memory chips havent been burnt.

Now i wanna know whats the fix? Can that fan be replaced or will i need a new heat sink as the fans integrated in to it? Also are such fans easily available or will i be hard pressed to find one?  sad_o.gif

    Help plz.

P.S: Also since my mobo doesnt have any inbuilt GPU i cant unlplug the GPU or i have no display. So while i have my card still in i am playing no games so it wont heat up. I wanna know if this is feasible or will it hurt the GPU even more? Is simple windows display @ 1280x768 at 75 hz enough to tax it and over heat it? I hope it isnt.

  4. I ain't joking. I intend to upgrade just to play ArmA with a smooth FPS rate. whistle.gif

Yes but what about us who cant upgrade because they are waiting for the Dx10 cards sad_o.gif .

I intend on building my machine next year in proper. And if ArmA wont run on my current rig then .... banghead.gif

  5. Ok so which processors are these with 64 bit processing?

    Also:

Quote[/b] ]That being said, while running a mission with visibility set to 1600 meters, and running on a high-end Dell XPS gaming system, Armed Assault demo mission looked to be running at about 20 fps

Wtf?? Those Dells are probably sporting Nvidia based SLI setups with some uber 7800 or 7900 cards. And they are getting 20 FPS only??? I guess the rest of us with a 6600 series or lower are doomed crazy_o.gif

  6. I see the PC running ArmA is a Dell XPS with a SLI setup. Is this PC like BIS/IDEA property or does Dell supply every booth with a PC of their own because of some contract they've got at E3 or something?

  7. MSG4 video is pretty impressive, but once again it is not gameplay. It is a cutscene on the engine, which shows graphics quite nicely, but does not do justice to actual gameplay. sad_o.gif

How much do you reckon gameplay can change in the MG series? tounge2.gif

After hearing about, and seeing Wii in action it's looking more and more like the console I'm going to go for... The PS3 is going to be rather absurdly high-priced IMO. And what's with the 100 dollar price difference between the 60 gig HD version and the 20 gig one?

    From the a gamespot blog:

Oh but there's a "bargain" version for $500 right? Unfortunately Sony has sneakily removed big functionality from that version, like HDMI connection, Wi-Fi, and memory stick support, etc.

  8. The only console which got my attention this time was the Wii. Sony lacked lustre and Microsoft's game usually end up on the PC as well so they werent all that alluring.

Nintendos new remote and gameplay however are really interesting me right now , i was pretty indifferent to it before but now that i think about it , no other console is in my price range so not worth looking in to (600$ wtf and thats only console , new games and tv will add to the cost ... might as well get a kick ass PC). The Wii looks fun , a nice alternative from the usual PC gaming , with its swinging action based remote control.

  9. (wonders if those patrols are part of way points, or something more creative and dynamic whistle.gif )

I'd say they are wp's. One guy is just standing there near the hedge looks like a stop wp wink_o.gif . I really like the atmosphere being generated by the update gfx's though. Cant wait for the real deal (vid @ E3 hopefully).

  10. They are showing the Nintendo conference live on Gamespot right now. The new remote demonstration is being done and the guy playing with it looks like he'll tire out by all that excercise. I guess thats one way of making kids get off and away from the consoles , they cant play if they are tired biggrin_o.gif .

Anyone know of anyother website which has got live video streamin of E3 , Gamespot is too slow.

  11. And add more to the depth of the system requirements tounge2.gif .

Volumetric clouds will be very resource intensive. I'd like them too but if theres a way to switch them off it should be present too.

  12. Quote[/b] ] Not only has Amnesty International condemned the United States in the harshest possible terms -- in the middle of a war when international image is vital -- but its most recent report spends more time criticizing the rogue pranks at Gitmo more harshly than the death camps run by the North Koreans.

I'd rather be harsh with someone whos preaching something to others quite loudly and yet cant bother practising it himself , then to someone who doesnt profess to being the most civilized nation on earth.

  13. I say get Jesper Kyd or Bill Brown to do the soundtracks.

These guys are just awesome when it comes to simple instrumental themes. Jesper kyd has done many games but his best piece imo was with Freedom Fighters , those russian based orchestral and instrumentals were something else really.

Bill Brown has done music for Quake and Rainbow six series and a few more games i think he's a good composer aswell.

Also i hope sound quality is improved , most of the importance is given to graphics and sound is left in the dark. As this article states which is for MGS4 for PS3. i hope something similiar is done for ArmA or Game 2.

Quote[/b] ]Tojima explains that limited storage space can degrade sound quality because developers are forced to use poor sound effects to save space. Tojima points out that, "Until now, the sound for in-game cinematics has been quite good. However, sound quality tends to take a hit when the player takes over and begins to play the game." We've seen this time and again on the PlayStation 2. Cinematic cutscenes playback with full surround sound and increased bit rates, but once the action starts, the music and sound all play second fiddle to a real-time graphics engine, with in-game audio generally dropping down to two-channel stereo.

That's all going to change on the PlayStation 3. "With next-generation consoles, both cinematics and in-game sound will closely resemble those found in Hollywood films," according to Tojima. He fully expects gamers to "be surprised by the quality of sound coming into their ears--the sound will react to their conditions in the 3D world like never before." For example, in the scenario where a bottle falls off a table, hits a metal shovel, and then rolls onto a carpet, conventional sound processing would have the bottle make the same sounds regardless of the environment, or what it collides with. That same scenario on the PlayStation 3 might have the bottle make a metallic tink when it hits the shovel, and then create a muffled rolling sound as it travels across the carpet. If the room had its own sound variables, the bottles sound might get take on some echo if in a bathroom, or get slightly quieter if in a bedroom. Then you have to factor in on-the-fly surround encoding, which would make the bottle pan from front to back or side to side in your room, depending upon the way it rolled.

The Metal Gear Solid team flew around the world to capture specific sounds for environments in the game. The group actually lugged surround-sound audio-recording equipment to capture sounds from undisclosed locations all around the world. Tojima's team also recorded special sound effects just for the game, instead of using prerecorded, CD-based sounds.

  14. Yeah interesting .... interesting as to why the hell are minors are being classified as enemy combatants crazy_o.gif .

Well, I'm just taking a wild stab in the dark here, but maybe they are being classified as enemy combatants because that really is what they are? Sometimes, anyway.

Combatants who broke down to maybe who knows a simple drive to a local cuban mcdonalds (do they have one btw?) , and started regurgirating sugar coated pills of their fealty to the american nation .... wow we definitely need some more of those impressionable and guillable types in the AQ militia whistle.gif

Way to spend the tax dollars , wasting time and effort in captivating minors icon_rolleyes.gif .

  15. Quote[/b] ]Nemesis, the story about the kids who claim to have been treated well at Gitmo is interesting.

Yeah interesting .... interesting as to why the hell are minors are being classified as enemy combatants crazy_o.gif .

Big deal of they treated a bunch of kids alright , for most of us thats a given its not as if its some big favour the worlds been bestowed upon.

  16. There are no dogs where i live either or anyother widllife so to speak , except for the stray city cats and birds. But then again citys shown in ArmA are rural based towns rather then a proper urbanized city.

Still we got them butterfly's and birds should be enough but a wild dog which happens to spawn randomly on the map very rarely would be an awesome feature. Should scare the shit out of you if on a night mission your crawling around the enemys perimeter and some dog comes pouncing on you biggrin_o.gif . Maybe enemy AI could also use them to pick up scents and stuff? Then hiding in bushes would be a problem too. Oh well addons and mission/scripts can make all that become a reality , no big deal if BIS doesnt do this.

  17. Oh....I forgot this other game too.....can't remember the name. It's like an RTS / FPS hybrid set in the times of the Greeks and Romans. You can play as a "hero" like Achilles when attacking a city. Is it Rise of Legends?

Rise of Legends demo is out i tried it , it was ... wierd and crap imo. The graphics were all mixed up and i couldnt understand the story or anything either.

  18. Games i look forward to seeing in E3:

Crysis : looks good as an FPS.

World Conflict : is an awesome looking rts (if that is the trailer they showed was truly ingame and not prerendered bullsh!t) , its a mixture of red Alert and OFP i think storyline wise.

Project Offset : is another game i look forward too its a FPS with an epic fantasy setting , the game just looks off the hook in terms of graphics.

Alan Wake : from the makers of Max Payne (Remedy) another nice looking suspense action 3rd person (?) shooter. I look forward to this game , could be good.

    And ofcourse ArmA
