    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

Since I'm working in Canada (Quebec) for the time beeing, did anybody know when the game will be available over here? I checked with futureShop this morning and no one could tell me when they will receive the pc version of the game. Thanks in advance

    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

Is there a mission editor in that game? Because, to be honest, what makes OFP last that long on my HD is the editor. Not beeing able to make my own missions or play user made missions it would have been removed a long time ago. I think its plain stupid to compare OFP/Arma to any CQB game/simulation. Indoor fighting in OFP is simply non existent and trying to implement the Take Cover option in OFP environment is probably impossible. OFP is for small to medium size outdoor battles and is good at it. But if I want to experience the rush of close quarter action I wont even consider it. According to the videos that I've seen so far, I will definitely buy the PC version of R6 Vegas. It seems like a fun high adrenaline game and gives you the opportunity to do everything that you cant in OFP. Now, having a way to make your own missions would be the icing on the cake. Cheers

    Island Camp

If it's a joke, it's a good one. I started the mission and when I see that nothing was happening I put the 4x time accelarator and live it for about 10 minutes like that. And guess what? Nothing ever happend. You just got me my friend Cheers
  6. You can also use _unit action ["heal"] to force _unit to mimic the animation. Cheers

    Is this normal?

You cannot use any radio commands in the intro part of the mission. Cheers

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Hi, I got there by accident. I never participate or even read threads on politic but beeing already there I looked at a few of the answers and it really stroke me that you came over and over again with (in my humble opinion) a really ludicrous question: "How can you really trust a NeoConMan republican?" I think the question should simply be: "How can you trust a politician?" If you dont trust the "NeoConMan republican" but trust the "NeoLibMan democrat" you are not showing much more wisdom than the others. Saying that a politician is lying is like saying that a bird is flying. This is what they do for a living. Now, back to more interesting things... Cheers

    New vietnam campaign

None of the download links are working. Where can we find that mission? Cheers

    No amphib units in AA

I dont think he is talking about vehicles. I think that he, like a lot of us, would have liked the possibility to swim in OFP. Automatically dying when falling in water is a bit ridicule. Any game that features water and boats should have this option. Cheers

    character switching

This is a fantastic feature if it is under the mission designer control. If the mission maker can turn it ON/OFF and selects the positions that are available when he sees fit according to his mission design, this is definitely a plus. Cheers

    COMBAT! HMMWVs 1.2 Release

I'm finding myself in the same situation as Trapper. An Afghanistan mission (half done) using the previous version of your HMMWVs, middle-east rebels and the BAS units (10th MTN). The addons list is already impressive (even though most people already have them) and having to add HYK soldiers and LSR weapons just to get rid of an error message is unfortunate (I will not use the HYK soldiers). I personnally have no problem since I have those required addons but I have to agree with the critics that you could have left the choice of the crew to the user. Nothing will stop them to put the HYK soldiers in your jeeps if they want but they wont have to. Just a friendly suggestion. After all, it's your work (and dam fine I have to say) and you do whatever you want with it. Cheers and keep on the good work.

@$kelet0r Hey, chill out man. You're taking it way to personnally. This is just an exchange of views on a public forum about video games. Nothing more. Everyone is entitle to his opinion and none of my words were directed to you personnally. If I've offended you in any way I apologize because that was certainly not my intention. I have nothing against online distribution without being force to open an account and/or validate online for people who wants it. As long as I still have the choice to buy my cd/dvd of the game if I choose to. It's that freedom that most of us dont want to lose. I think the general feeling is mostly resumed in the previous post by Kode:

@$kelet0r It seems that 75.65% of the people answering that topic agree with me. That makes a lot of 'technophobes' dont you think so? Keep the spirit man Cheers

@Sputnik Monroe Dont waist your time buddy. I finally understand that the current topic is simply a promotion for online distribution and activation. The disadvantages for the customers are so obvious that only a blind man or someone paid to not see will continue to argue. All the so call advantages are for the distributors and for the distributors only at the expense of the customer's freedom and ease of use. The tenacity that is shown here by some participants to force that thing down our throat speaks for itself. No customer in is right mind would defend such a position. This is the OFP crowd not the HL2 or Battlefield one. We dont need any big brother to update or patch the game automatically for us. We are not 14 years old kids that will accept any compromise just to play a game. I did not buy HL2 because of Steam and as you so well said 'Any game with such a "feature" will not receive my hard earned cash'. Cheers

I see. #LOOP So in order to play on the computer in my country house I need to take it home, connect it to the internet, install the game, validation and account and take it back to the country house. All that to play single player. And if for any reason I need to format or change my hard drive...goto "LOOP" In case you did not know, slavery is over in most of the civilize countries. If progress means everything better for the companies and all the problems for the customers then you just lose one of them. You would make a good Steam/Valve representative (if it's not what you are). Nothing personnal Cheers

@Dwarden Even if you intend to play sp only, you cannot install the game without a connection and an account! That's even true for the demo - I know it sounds ridiculous but I'm not kidding - try it yourself! Now, go to your computer that you have in your country house (without internet) and try to install the game or even the demo. Good luck! typical Steam myth Cheers

I find it amazing that Valve/Steam lovers cant understand the simple fact that people who are NOT playing online (single player only) does NOT want to be forced to have anything else than their original cd to play the game. Why in the name of God should I need an internet connection, a Steam account and a software verifying the validity of my copy every time I decide to play alone on my computer at home or anywhere else (HL2 for example). If we're only talking about distribution choice, no problem as long as you keep the possibility to buy a hard copy of the game so I can install/reinstall it when I want without asking an online authorisation to anyone. If you want to play multiplayer, fine. Get your connection, your account and everything that goes with it and have fun. But please dont impose that to people that does NOT play multi. We, single players, are NOT concern about cheating or any other misbehaviour that you find on multi servers. There are much more single players in a game like OFP than HL2 and I can garantee you that the crowd they will lose (starting with me) will be much bigger than the one they lost with the HL2 catastrophy. Cheers
  21. The script that is called by the event, in your case 'myfriggenscipt.sqs', receives a few parameters (_this). The first one is the object/vehicle who owns the useraction and the second one is the unit who triggered it. (the third one is the action id in case you need to remove it) So (_this select 0) = owner of the action and (_this select 1) = the unit who triggered it. I hope this is what you were asking for Cheers
  22. @BoA It's simple. You have an empty array (vBodies=[]). When a unit dies, you create an empty target (_target="tragetClass" createVehicle [0,0,0]) that you after setpos at the body position. Then, you just save both in the array (vBodies=vBodies+[[_target,_body]]). Then you just check if any remaining unit knowsabout any '_target' in the array. If anyone does, then you send him to the corresponding '_body' position. Sorry if its not that clear but I hope you get the picture. I really regret that I dont have the script with me. I assure you that it works. I'm really not in the mood to try to recreate the whole script here I'm on vacation an my brain is in vacation with me (to much beer) Cheers
  23. Even though OFP was not designed with stealth in mind it is possible to force units to detect dead bodies using invisible targets like Lester's ones. I've made a script that create such a target (from the kill event) at the body position every time a unit is killed. Then, as soon as it is detected, I switch the detector(s) group(s) in AWARE mode and remove the target. Then I order the detectors to move to the body and raise the alarm when they get there. The alarm is not raised if they are killed before they get to the body. The same script also check if the body is hidden and remove the invisible target if it is. Other things are also checked and the target is in fact only deleted if the body is hidden. I'm sorry but I'm not home for the hollidays and my gaming computer is not with me so I dont remember all the details but it works perfectly (as perfectly as the knowsabout command can work). I'll put the script here as soon that I'm back home sometimes in January. But using what I've just said I would love to see other people's work on this and we could compare with the script I've made later. Happy Hollidays

@Dwarden You know, most of the times first impression last very long and the first impression that most people had with steam was the HL2 fiasco. If you did not heard about it just get a look at the numerous HL2 forums. Even though the participants are HL fanatics you'll be surprise by the number of unsatisfied customers (not about the game itself but steam). To defend it so agressively I wonder if you are a share holder or receive any benefits from steam because frankly there is nothing worth defending here. In any case, as long as they continue giving the option to buy a cd/dvd normally at the store, they may even sell the game by episode mission by mission over steam if they want. They will always find someone to buy it. Cheers
