  1. Hi, I just e-mail them and they are out of stock. They say that they are expecting a shipment tomorrow. We'll see... Any where else? Cheers
  2. Hi, I dont know specifically about the combat module but what you call the external code can be run in the editor using a trigger. Just give it a delay of a few seconds to be sure that the acm module was initialised. A trigger with a true condition will always execute. Hope it helps Cheers
  3. Hi, I had the same toughts SD_Killa. Most of the reviewers complains are about the broken campaign and like it or not they are probably right on regarding the main stream player opinion. It would be wise to fix it and much of the other obvious bugs before facing the North-America market. We'll probably have to wait 1.03 version... I wish them luck. They deserve it. Cheers
  4. Hi, Same here. I have both Vista Ultimate SP1 and XP Pro SP3 and XP wins easily. I have the complete opposite here. Vista slightly better than XP with a 7900 GT and XP drastically better than Vista with my new card 4870. Cheers
  5. Hi, In my opinion the grass should be according to the view distance or non existent. Seeing the grass growing in front of me when I move is worst than no grass at all. Terrain detail at very low as also 2 enormous advantages: You can see the enemy as they can see you and fluidity. I gained almost 10 fps going from very high to very low terrain detail and the game still looks very good. Cheers

The breadth of ArmA II's SP campaign

Hi, I agree with you that the game looks like a sandbox tool. But what a tool... I could not care less about the original campaign or missions with the community that we have. We'll soon be burried under tons of quality (I hope) missions and campaigns not to mention all the mods and addons. You are right, the editor alone is worth every penny of it and making your own missions is really what this is all about. Cheers
  7. Hi, Is this the download site that will support BIS directly? And if it is, I am in Canada and want to pay in Canadian money (credit card). How can it be done since there is no option on the site for canadian money? I will gladly cancel my order at EB Games to help the developpers. Thanks in advance Cheers
  8. Hi, @tincup Sorry to come back to one of your posts and rest assure that I'm not trying to raise any arguments with you there but I really dont understand how you can compare the developpers and the editors in a game. Of course they both need each other, one has the brain and the other has the money, but this is as far that you can compare them. If I build a car and you pay the legal fees so we can sell it who would you trust to make modifications or build another car based on the previous one. It's like a relational database, the one-to-many relation starts with the developpers (the one part) and propagates to the publishers (who can easily be the many part). You can always find other publishers (money) but the brains are unique. Cheers

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

Hi, No wonder game developpers in general seems to prefer console over pc. The same game on what seems almost the same pc config gives so many different results...what a nightmare. No wonder there are still bugs on some machines. I tested the demo on the same machine with 2 different OS (2 separate disks) using the benchmark mission. E6600 2 G RAM 7900 GT 1440x900 for both output No Postprocess No Filtering No AA No Shadow Very Low terrain All the rest on Normal Vista Ultimate SP1 = 22 fps XP Pro SP3 = 20 fps Today, I changed the 7900 GT for a 4870 1440x900 for both No Postprocess No Filtering Very Low Terrain AA, Shadow and everything else on High Vista Ultimate SP1 = 31 fps XP Pro SP3 = 44 fps According to these results, there is no doubt that I'll be using XP to play Arma 2. But I would like to understand... How come there is such a huge difference between the 2 OS with the 4870? Cheers

PC Discussion Thread - All PC related in here.

Hi, I'm still waiting for my copy of the game but I tried the demo on Vista Ultimate SP1 and XP Pro SP3 and contrary on what I'm reading here Vista gave me a better framerate average than XP. The test was made using the benchmark mission. It's the same machine with 2 disks and I have more stuff on the Vista disk that I use more often. E6600 4870 2 Gigs RAM Cheers

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

While waiting for my reserved copy from EB Games on july 7, I downloaded the demo and installed it. First, like many people here, I had to reinstall directX to get rid of the error message. Thanks for the tip. I used a relatively old pc: Intel E6600 2 gigs of ram nVidia 7900 gt As expected, the video card was the bottleneck. The benchmark mission gave me an average of 22 fps with those specs: - Very low terrain - 1440x900 for both resolution and the corresponding output (19' lcd) - No shadow - No Postprocessing - and all the rest at normal I'll get another video card tomorrow, probably an AMD 4870 at Microbytes (Montréal) for $225 CA. The 4890 is about $300. Yes, they are more expensive here. I wonder if it's worthed the extra $75? Anyway... I'll post back the difference when I get it. Hope this is somehow usefull Cheers

    The rainbow six covering system

If what we can see in the picture posted by Bushmonkey is called leaning then how do you call the "nose to the wall - weapon between your legs - bending sideways" that we can do in arma? In my opinion, this picture is showing the most realistic way to peek while in cover. Its a modified mix of r6vegas cover and lean. There might be something to learn here... Cheers

    OFP alive?

Hi, I have a good computer and no problem running all the new games but after playing them for a few days I got bored and almost a bit sad. Once passed the curiosity stage, they all leave me with a weird feeling of doing the same thing over and over again. Then, about 2 months ago, I reinstalled OFP. It did'nt take long to understand why the other games look so boring. I had so much fun that I started playing around with some missions that I've made but never really finished. With all the mods and addons from the community it is like having multiple games in one. For example, just add the BAS stuff and you instantly have everything you need for an African conflict. Add Catfish Afghanistan map, CBT vehicles and JJR Rebels and you're ready for an Afghanistan campaign. Add ECP over it and you have all the effects and sounds to make you feel like your watching a movie. Add to that the unpredictable AI and it is now clear why other games are no match for OFP. For me, OFP is by far the best game ever made. And the OFP community the most talented I've ever seen. Thanks BIS. Cheers

    ArmA on Steam

I'm sorry but I think I'm missing something here. What is so beautifull about buying a cd and then going online to create an account instead of just inserting the cd key? Again, I must be missing something here to. What can be more simple than putting your cd in your pc and typing your cd key to reinstall? I must have reinstall OFP dozens of time and mostly on computers without internet connection. I doubt I could have done that with Steam. Hey, you are completely free to be in love with Steam (whatever makes you click...) and I agree that more ways to deliver the game is good but since I never play online, I fail to see what I'll gain using Steam instead of my cd key... Cheers

    BAS Blackhawk Rappeling

Hi, Make that call in a trigger where you want them to fast rope: <chopper> exec "\BAS_mah60\FX\BAS_AIRope.sqs" Just replace <chopper> with the chopper real name and the script will fast rope everyone except the crew. Hope that answers your question Cheers

    Hight Def. Tropic island

The download size is ok but I receive the error message "Unexpected end of archive encountered" or the equivalent every time I launch winrar by clicking on the file. I dont think Password has anything to do with it. Just out of curiosity, why the password? Cheers

It seems that it will be a Christmas without snow this year. Hell, we'll have fun anyway. Merry Christmas to all from Montreal, Canada.

    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

I see your point Baff1 and I understand your deception. The game has turned into something you dont really like anymore and I must admit that R6V is not what the series was before. The problem is that it was the only series that offers carefull planing followed by fast brutal action. There is no such games anymore and I agree that its sad. Nothing was more rewarding than taking your time to plan the assault and achieving the mission without loosing any men and all objectives completed. Maybe R6V should have been named something else because it is something else. A good and innovative FPS but still a FPS. I like the game for what it is and have a lot of fun playing it but I agree with you that its not the Rainbow Six that kept us awake (and frustrated ) entire nights. Cheers

    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

In that case just DONT USE IT! Its not like the SWAT units cant blindfire, they dont because they decide to not do it. Do the same. I can understand complaining about a lack of features but not the contrary. Just dont use the ones you dont like. Cheers

    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

No, I dont. Would you throw a grenade in a room full of civilians? Does that mean that the grenades should be removed from the game? Its a feature and as so you use it as you see fit (when no civilians around). Cheers

    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

About comparing the cover system to the "Face on the wall leaning", I'm not an expert but in hostile environment, I would never face a wall (the only direction where I'm covered) to prepare to peak and by doing so exposing my back to the 3 other sides. I would definitely turn my back to the wall (where I know that I'm protected) to keep a view of the rest of the area and peak once in a while to see what's going on at the corner. Of course, the best of both worlds would be to keep the "face on the wall leaning" for those who want it. The other argument is the TPV when in cover. Maybe UBI should have implement a snake cam system or mirror that gives you the possibility to see behind you when in cover instead of TPV. It would have give the same result and maybe nobody would have complain. And lastly, the blind fire option is really a suppression option that you can use while your units are moving to another location. I hardly never hit anyone doing so and its more a waste of ammo than anything else. Just dont use it if you dont like it. As I said I'm not an expert. Cheers

    Rainbow Six:Vegas (360)

I just got it this morning. WOW! After installing the patch and the wide screen hack (1440x900) I've played for a few hours and I'm still in the first mission in Mexico. I'm getting used to the gameplay and I'm loving every moment of it. The graphics are much better in my lcd native resolution than in 1024x768. In fact, despite the drab color scheme of the city, it looks very good. There is no lag at all at any moment (sp only) and commanding my two units has never been so easy and intuitive. Over the time when you get stuck in an alley by your comrades blocking the way. Even in small corridors they are never in your way and are by far the most proficient AI I've ever seen in a R6 game. I've played R6 since the beginning, including Rogue Spear and Raven Shield, and I can tell you that (at least in the first mission) you dont miss the planning phase at all. There is no way to plan anything in advance the way the mission is going. You have to adapt all the time to the changing situation and plan one move at the time. Fast ropping and rappelling are extremely well done and the animations are simply stunning. The cover system looks much more realistic and natural than facing a wall to prepare for leaning. It takes a little while to get used to it but after 3 hours playing I cannot imagine playing any CQB game without it in the future. Despite the fact that I cannot understand releasing a game depending so much on new technology without wide screen support, I have to congratulate UBI for their accomplishment. Like it or not, this is the way of the future for urban combat video games. Tell you more later. I've got to go back. This game is very addictive. Cheers
