    Why so little ammo?

I don't see any good reason to maintain unrealistic ammo limits in Flashpoint - its pretty clear that the games popularity and endurance are grounded in its simulation quality. Play balance has no place on the battlefield.
  2. Would like to know if there is a way to make units (specifically aircraft) dissappear from the map ("this begone!!") . Thinking along the lines of starting a mission with some air support that sweeps in for one attack then flies off. I don't want the aircraft to then loiter around at the edge of the map using CPU time. The only solution I have thus far is to destroy the thing at some distant WP.

Didn't know the BMP had tanks in the rear doors - actually sounds like a good idea (most fire will come through the forward arc).

    Survivability of APCs

Dude - that I happened to make a comment on a topic you may have already held forth on does not constitute theft. Get a grip. The M113's Aluminium armour may be easily penetrated by an RPG - however - the destructive force is very localised. Ammunition or Fuel would have to be ignited to produce the total destruction so common in OFP. As for the other APCs - there is a lot of material available indicating they have significantly better resistance to damage IRL than they do in the game.

    Setting Time for Bombs

Once you select the 'set time 30 seconds' action you just keep hitting it to extra chunks of 30 seconds. The action menu will show you how much time you have added - in brackets beside the menu item.

    Survivability of APCs

APCs in OFP presently feel a bit too puny - especially given the volume of LAW/RPG fire that usually greets their appearance. The problem isn't so much that they get KO'ed by one hit from these weapons (though that is fairly rare IRL) - but that all passengers are killed as well. I would like to see a greater breadth of possibilities resulting from a KO hit - ranging from everyone bales out through to, the currently standard, catastrophic destruction.

Many of you have horrible ideas

Some folks are just tooo easy. And Kid - you cannot prove anything about your capabilities here. This thread has been interesting - looks about played out though. Love the "you people" - has that quaint American feel.

Many of you have horrible ideas

Re - Soon to be billy LT The hostility directed at you is, likely, not due to your utterances concerning the many dubious suggestions posted in this free forum. The presumption of superiority implicit in your tone and explicit in your prose is quite enough to draw fire. That aside I don't care a fig whether the addons supplied by BIS were in the US/Soviet arsenal in 1985 - the only thing fixed at '85 is the campaign game. Regarding the many suggestions put forward here - BIS will, at their own discretion, adopt or ignore (no doubt mostly ignore). NB - Your insistence on the 1985 US vs Sov scenario hints at a tendency to linear thought - aspiring junior leaders should be careful of that pitfall.

    M2A2 Bradley problems

The Bradley's TOW is fairly puny (in game) - but the rate of fire far exceeds any Soviet missile in OFP. Â The double launcher allows a deadly 'double tap' on locked targets (obviously not possible IRL). Â Additionally load time for the launcher is quite a bit faster than either of the BMPs. I reckon it should be noted that missiles still wound and kill crew in OFP - sometimes when only a small amount of damage is done to the vehicle. The one thing damage wise I would really like to see - is more survivable APCs. Â One RPG or LAW killing everyone on the vehicle everytime is a bit silly - makes APCs a liability. While watching the Northern Alliance on tv...

Much of the Taliban's hardware (and many other kinds of support) came from Pakistan. The guys who actually beat off the Soviets where lead by Ahmed Shah Massoud (the national hero who was "coincidentally" assassinated by a team of Bin Laden's suicide bombers on Sept 9). T55 is indeed one of the all time great AFVs - and still plenty threatening if all you have is a rifle (or an RPG for that matter). I doubt an M1 (or any other current western AFV) would last very long in that environment without skilled crews and regular maintenance.

    M2A2 why no AP ammo?

Kinda thought that by posting on the official forum I was bringing it to the attention of the developers. Also wanted to be sure it wasn't just me. Another player mentioned he didn't have the option to switch to HE in the BMP2. No AP means 250 fewer rounds to raise #### with - gimme gimme. The M2's 25mm cannon is not intended for bursting troopies - it is an anti-armour weapon first (light armour anyway).

    BRDM-2

Re Mox Thanks for the info man. APCs in OFP are a great deal less useful than IRL - since one RPG/LAW hit can kill all on board. Without going crazy on penetration effects etc etc - I reckon it would be a big improvement just having most passengers survive a single hit.
  14. The new vehicles are great - however, the M2 has only 250 rnds HE for the chaingun and no option to switch feeds to AP. Â The BMP2 has 250AP and 250HE with a very fast feed switch. Â Just wondering if the omission is intentional or is the result of a minor bug. (Edited by Athos at 4:14 am on Nov. 15, 2001)
